Well chart history made and it was really his last chance this week, next week Shawn Mendes can spoil the fun and also maybe Sigala too (already top 4 on iTunes and top 10 on Spotify, while What Do You Mean? is dropping)

'The Joker' outsold 'Groove Is In The Heart' by 8 copies. They had the exact same sales chart panel sales though, under the way the charts were compiled back then.

Biography

Justin Drew Bieber (/ˈbiːbər/; born March 1, 1994) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. Bieber's current manager, Scooter Braun, first discovered him through his YouTube videos in 2007. Braun, as noted, was impressed with the videos resulting in contacting Bieber's mother, Patricia Mallette, about wanting to work with his musical abilities. Moreover, him having convinced his mother, Braun arranged for Bieber to meet with singer-songwriter, Usher, in Atlanta, Georgia. As a result, Bieber was signed to RBMG, a record label based in Atlanta, then to Island Records -- part of Def Jam Records -- with a recording contract offered by a prominent record executive, L.A. Reid.

He released his debut EP, My World, in November 2009. It has been certified platinum in the United States. He became the first artist to have seven songs from a debut record to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Bieber released his first full-length studio album, My World 2.0, in March 2010. It debuted at or near number one in several countries and was certified platinum in the United States. It was preceded by the single, "Baby", which is also, as of July 2014, the YouTube video with the most dislikes, and the most views on a Vevo platform. He followed up the release of his debut album with his first headlining tour, the My World Tour, the remix album titled, My Worlds Acoustic, and Never Say Never – The Remixes, and the 3D biopic-concert film Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. Bieber released his second studio album, Under the Mistletoe, in November 2011 when it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Bieber released his third studio album, Believe, in June 2012.

He has received numerous industry awards, including both Artist of the Year Awards at the 2010 American Music Awards, and the 2012 American Music Awards. He has been nominated for Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album at the 53rd Grammy Awards. With his growing national and international fan base, they have been dubbed "beliebers" who largely consist of early to mid-adolescent women. He has millions of "followers" on Twitter and other social media accounts. He has been listed three times by Forbes magazine as one of the top ten most powerful celebrities in the world in 2011, 2012, and 2013. - Wikipedia

Wahey, my town being mentioned on R1 :cheer:

And so glad at JB's relevance, WDYM? still sounding good

Sorry is by quite some distance the best track Justin Bieber has ever done.
1990, The Joker and The Groove Is In The Heart had the exact same sales. The former was awarded the official #1 for bigger sales growth.

There were joint #1's during the 50's as well.

I wish it was Sorry at number 1 for so long and not Love Yourself to be honest :kink:
On one week, The Joker by Steve Miller and Groove Is In The Heart sold the same amount of copies and were joint highest-selling song of the week. The OCC ruled in favour of "The Joker" being number one, which meant "Groove Is In The Heart" was never a number one.

There was also four occasions in the 1950s where two songs held number one:

  • On 11 December 1953, David Whitfield and Frankie Laine's versions of "Answer Me" were number one on the same week.
  • On 1 February 1957, Guy Mitchell "Singing The Blues" and Frankie Vaughan "The Garden Of Eden" were both number one.
  • On 4 July 1958, Vic Damone "On THe Street Where You Live" and The Everly Brothers "All I Have To Do Is Dream/Claudette" were both number one.
  • On 18 December 1953, Adam Faith "What Do You Want?" and Emile Ford & The Checkmates "What Do You Want To Make Those Eyes At Me For?" were both number one.
I must admit I do like 'Love Yourself', a very minimalist sounding record.

Biography

Canadian pop-R&B singer and songwriter Alessia Cara (full last name: Caracciolo) made her recorded debut in 2015, though she started racking up YouTube views -- with acoustic covers of popular songs across several genres -- four years earlier. Upon graduating from high school in her native Brampton, a suburb of Toronto, Ontario, Cara opted to devote a year to music rather than go straight to college. She continued to upload YouTube clips regularly and landed a major-label recording contract with Def Jam. Matched up with Andrew "Pop" Wansel, Warren "Oak" Felder, and Coleridge Tillman, a trio of songwriters and producers with dozens of R&B and pop hits between them, Cara co-wrote and recorded the distinctive wallflower anthem "Here" and had the song released as a single in May 2015. Featuring a sample of Isaac Hayes' "Ike's Rap II," previously utilized by Portishead for "Glory Box" and by Tricky for "Hell Is Round the Corner," its streams numbered in the millions prior to the premiere of its official video. A five-track EP, Four Pink Walls, arrived that August, and the full-length Know It All followed three months later. - iTunes

Biography

Singer and songwriter (and occasional actor) Elle King was born Tanner Elle Schneider in 1989 in Los Angeles, the daughter of London King and Rob Schneider (the actor and comedian and former cast member of Saturday Night Live). She grew up in Ohio, and after hearing the all-girl pop-punk band the Donnas when she was nine years old, she decided she wanted to be a singer and musician. By 13 she was playing guitar, and later learned to play the banjo as well. King began street busking and gigging around New York at the age of 16, moving to Philadelphia to attend the University of Arts, majoring in painting and film. After college she spent time in Copenhagen and Los Angeles before returning to New York to settle in Brooklyn. Signing to RCA Records, she released a debut four-song EP, The Elle King EP, in 2012. In 2015 King released her debut album, Love Stuff, featuring the single "Ex's & Oh's," which reached the top of Billboard's Alternative Songs chart. - iTunes
