The band is often considered a precursor to, or one of the earliest members of, the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, which re-energised heavy metal in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Despite this, Lemmy always dubbed their music as simply "rock and roll". Motörhead released 23 studio albums, 10 live recordings, 12 compilation albums, and five EPs over a career spanning 40 years. Usually a power trio, they had particular success in the early 1980s with several successful singles in the UK Top 40 chart. The albums Overkill, Bomber, Ace of Spades, and particularly No Sleep 'til Hammersmith cemented Motörhead's reputation as a top-tier rock band. The band are ranked number 26 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. As of 2012, they have sold more than 15 million albums worldwide. Motörhead are typically classified as heavy metal, and their fusion of punk rock into the genre helped to pioneer speed metal and thrash metal. Their lyrics typically covered such topics as war, good versus evil, abuse of power, promiscuous sex, substance abuse, and, most famously, gambling. Lemmy died on 28 December 2015 after being diagnosed with an undisclosed "aggressive" form of cancer. The day after his death, drummer Mikkey Dee stated that Motörhead would not continue as a band, and two days later, guitarist Phil Campbell also stated that "Motörhead is no longer". - Wikipedia Chart history - Top 100 (Year peak title): 1978 68 Louie, Louie -NAS- 1979 39 Overkill -1- 1979 61 No Class -2- 1979 34 Bomber -1- 1980 08 Golden Years EP -EP- 1980 13 Ace Of Spades -1- 1980 43 Beer Drinkers And Hell Raisers -EP- 1981 05 St Valentine's Day Massacre EP (Motörhead & Girlschool) -EP- 1981 06 Motörhead (Live) -1- 1982 29 Iron Fist -1- 1983 46 I Got Mine -1- 1983 59 Shine -2- 1984 51 Killed By Death -1- 1986 67 Deaf Forever -1- 1991 45 The One To Sing The Blues -1- 1992 63 '92 Tour EP -EP- 1993 23 Ace Of Spades (1993 re-issue) -NAS- 1994 47 Born To Raise Hell (Motörhead With Ice-T & Whitfield Crane) -1- 2000 93 God Save The Queen -1- R.I.P. January 8, 201610 yr Am I crazy for thinking that Ace Of Spades has something rather disco-y in it? It's from 1980 after all.

January 8, 201610 yr Actually I'm quite glad the campaign managed to get Ace Of Spades to #13 :D And Never Forget You is still great
January 8, 201610 yr As much as I could get furious as Never Forget You for holding Love Me Like You out of the top 10, it's so fantastic I can't be angry at it. Lush Life needs to be a smash as well.
January 8, 201610 yr Back from school finally, what have I missed? (eg where were David Guetta and Snakehips in the chart?) Edited January 8, 201610 yr by mdh
