Biography

Motörhead (/ˈmoʊtərhɛd/) were an English rock band formed in June 1975 by bassist, singer, and songwriter Ian Fraser "Lemmy" Kilmister, who was the sole constant member. The band is often considered a precursor to, or one of the earliest members of, the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, which re-energised heavy metal in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Despite this, Lemmy always dubbed their music as simply "rock and roll".

Motörhead released 23 studio albums, 10 live recordings, 12 compilation albums, and five EPs over a career spanning 40 years. Usually a power trio, they had particular success in the early 1980s with several successful singles in the UK Top 40 chart. The albums Overkill, Bomber, Ace of Spades, and particularly No Sleep 'til Hammersmith cemented Motörhead's reputation as a top-tier rock band. The band are ranked number 26 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. As of 2012, they have sold more than 15 million albums worldwide.

Motörhead are typically classified as heavy metal, and their fusion of punk rock into the genre helped to pioneer speed metal and thrash metal. Their lyrics typically covered such topics as war, good versus evil, abuse of power, promiscuous sex, substance abuse, and, most famously, gambling.

Lemmy died on 28 December 2015 after being diagnosed with an undisclosed "aggressive" form of cancer. The day after his death, drummer Mikkey Dee stated that Motörhead would not continue as a band, and two days later, guitarist Phil Campbell also stated that "Motörhead is no longer". - Wikipedia

I'm not much of a fan of this type of music, but Ace Of Spades is actually excellent.
Have just been lurking today but have to give a woo for Motorhead!
What I tuned in for today. So glad to be able to hear this on the chart, if only it was under better circumstances.
'Ace Of Spades' - this is more like it - brilliant!
Am I crazy for thinking that Ace Of Spades has something rather disco-y in it? It's from 1980 after all.

Finally some decent music on the chart :D

Excellent score for Motorhead!

Still absolutely adore this. Lush Life to smash please

Discussion Thread Here

Actually I'm quite glad the campaign managed to get Ace Of Spades to #13 :D

And Never Forget You is still great

Loved this song, but got really bored of it :(

As much as I could get furious as Never Forget You for holding Love Me Like You out of the top 10, it's so fantastic I can't be angry at it.

Lush Life needs to be a smash as well.

I'm liking 'Lush Life' so much more than this.

Indeed

Back from school finally, what have I missed?

(eg where were David Guetta and Snakehips in the chart?)
