come on griff, I can't even excuse you being 18 to not know songs like like a virgin. like I can understand if it was a kate bush rate or something where she doesn't crop up in the press much but any time Madonna is mentioned in an interview or news report they play that shit in the background most if not all of the time. i barely know a lot of the songs between the like a prayer - ray of light eras but I still know a few from the zeitgeist. it's like saying no one born after the 60s would know any Beatles material. hmhmMm hmmm

Where am I expected to hear it? I generally don't watch many interviews or news reports. And I DO know a few from the zeitgeist, as has been proven by my rate.

madonna is everywhere you can't escape her. her songs crop up in basically any situation / environment. not having a go like fair enough if you haven't heard these songs but I just find it really hard to believe.

You cannot escape Madonna if you listen to either Radio 2 or Heart FM, two of the biggest radio stations in the UK. Like a Virgin still gets occasional plays on both stations. Like a Virgin was also covered in Shrek 2 and Glee over the last decade. I feel like it's her pop-culture go-to song. And is in fact her most iconic song. Saying that, it's far and away from my favourite of hers.

It's just two things I plugged out of my head. Shrek is a huge film and Glee at the time of broadcast was one of the most watched TV shows in the world.
