March 13, 20169 yr First of all lolololol Samir och viktor coming dead last overall. Even the public didn't seem to care haha Frans winning is predictable but oh well the song is very instant and could do really well at Eurovision if they polish his terrible look. Oh well it's not the worst thing that could've happened. Oscar winning would've guaranteed Sweden a mid table finish a la robin but with Frans there's actually some room for improvement. He's a c**t however. He is soooooo hated everywhere by the Eurovision fans it's quite ridiculous. (But he kinda deserves it, the little ungrateful bitter punk~) What a medley!!! Absolute bonkers and it really highlighted so many good things about melodifestivalen <333 Ace still coming top three after the public f***ed her over yasssssss queen What a year. I actually grew to love the majority of the finalists even though there wasn't a single W O W song like almost every year. Full post-MF ranking coming shortly~
March 13, 20169 yr Who else can boast the 100% top three finish rate with 2+ appearances tho *.* Danny? Add a third place with EMD to that too... The medley was indeed amazing. Caroline Af Ugglas was as brilliantly eccentric as ever, so good to see her singing that track again <3
March 13, 20169 yr Well this could have gone better. I guess I can always schedule a restroom break while this twat is on during the Jury Final.
March 13, 20169 yr It'd be where they deserve! It's almost like subconsciously the Swedish public actively sabotage themselves so they don't win twice in a row.
March 13, 20169 yr They don't have a Eurovision winner among this lot this year tho. Frans is the most likely to win out of them all.
March 13, 20169 yr They don't have a Eurovision winner among this lot this year tho. Frans is the most likely to win out of them all. It seems no one else did either, so some of these could have had a go! And I really feel Constellation Prize had more of a chance. Frans will be too divisive I think, although he'll most probably get top 10.
March 13, 20169 yr Author To be fair though, it's not as if Constellation Prize clearly captured Sweden, nor the juries vote that much, so who's to say while on paper it may seem like a good entry, it would do any better?
March 13, 20169 yr Constellation Prize was my favourite on record, but to me it didn't stand out massively in the running order of last night's final - it ultimately felt a bit static and lacking impact. As I said previously, Oscar and Frans were the two performances that felt like real moments to me, even if Oscar's in particular isn't my favourite song on record, and the international jury rightly agreed.
March 13, 20169 yr I think Sweden have sent their best option for a Eurovision/international hit in Frans. It will certainly stand out in the final I think. Up until last night if have assumed a runaway win for it but it didn't exactly run away with Melodifestivalen so I'm not sure now...but then maybe that says more about the strength of this final. Heroes' closest challengers last year were not exactly full of widespread appeal outside of Sweden like much of this field would be. It's surely another top five for Sweden though.

Ooh this reminds me about a fantastic bit of analysis I read last night on ESC Forum: Standard deviation of the 2016 televote results is 9.89. Frans' win is about 3 std dev from the mean. Standard deviation of 2015 meanwhile is 45.11. Mans' win here is also about 3 std dev from the mean. Standard deviation of 2014 is 35.20. Sanna's win here is about 2 std dev from the mean. 2013 std dev is 25. Robin's second place is just over 1 std dev. Yohio's win is about 2. 2012 std dev is 43. Loreen's win is about 2.5 std dev from the mean. 2011 std dev is 27. Eric Saade's win is also about 2.5 std dev. This shows that actually Frans' televote victory was on the scale of Mans believe it or not and even bigger than Loreen, just the app voting closing everything up makes it look less convincing than it actually was! Of course he didn't win the jury voting, but he couldn't have come much closer.
March 13, 20169 yr She'll come back in Zara's shadow soon. To be fair though, it's not as if Constellation Prize clearly captured Sweden, nor the juries vote that much, so who's to say while on paper it may seem like a good entry, it would do any better? If a Sweden winner has to win Melfest convincingly like Euphoria and Heroes did then yes, I suppose. Oscar Zia certainly had that sort of impact though, although that one isn't as current at all. Maybe I will have to admit that Frans is the best option for success. It's obviously easy to get on board with it for many people.
March 13, 20169 yr Author I mean, I still don't really know WHY it's taken off so much but then I don't really understand what people see is Ed Sheeran or Love Yourself, so that's probably where the problem lies. But if it's managed to get Sweden SO excited about it in just 2 weeks, they can't be alone surely.
March 14, 20169 yr Author It's not exactly an IDEAL position but the last two years have shown that if a song is gonna win, it'll probably win wherever you place it in the final.
March 14, 20169 yr Yeah, I'd have only said it was out of contention if it had been put in the first 5, 9th won't hinder or help whatever position it's going to get that much. On its own at least, it may depend on what gets drawn next to it.
