I'd say he could do a Bowie, just reversed, with a greatest hits getting their next week and maybe his new album the week after (if it can overcome Drake).

The new album will be much bigger than it would've been without these tragic events but I can't see it being quite as big as 'Blackstar' unless it too is very well received critically. I hope the greatest hits collections and most importantly 'Purple Rain' get prolonged success in the albums charts. It's never too late to discover sensational, timeless music.

I was on about one of his old albums going to #1 on 29th April. Seeing as he also has an album out that day, maybe he could rob Drake of a #1 album like Michael Jackson did to La Roux in 2009

Technically, the album is already out in various forms. It's on iTunes and Tidal (has been since mid-December actually) - it's just the CD that isn't out until 29th.

 

I can't see it being quite as big as 'Blackstar' unless it too is very well received critically.

 

It has received mixed to positive reviews, like much of his output in the last 20 years or so - but it'll probably end up Top 10 with ease, when considering low sales.

With the sad news of Prince passing away i expect Prince to be the number 1 album next week. He could possibly get some singles on the chart if people download and stream this evening.

 

I hadn't heard the news - but since the first thing I looked at this morning was the iTunes chart, it wasn't difficult to guess...
