saw the first episode of this over the weekend.

first impressions:

a lot of it seemed to have been inspired by takeaway- their's a star of the show (who actually provides the entertainment at the end) like the end of the show show, their's an audience surprise, fun games- and a couple of guests.

worth watching- i was pretty impressed

and Michael McIntyre is actually funnier than i thought

  • Also I gather from some Instagram comments from those who were at the recording that the (seemingly) drunk woman that chased Michael was soon thrown out.

I didn't see this in full but, from what I did see, it did indeed seem to take a lot of inspiration from Ant & Dec, especially with audience surprises. It's by no means a bad thing though as Saturday Night TV needs more entertainment/variety shows like these two!
I probably watched about 15 minutes of it, and I just turned off, pretty much crap. BBC need to bring back a variety show like they did way back Seaside Special on Saturday nights with music acts, magicians, and dancers etc etc.
I enjoyed it - just a bit of harmless fun really. I enjoy Michael McIntyre's shows in general, so I'm not surprised. I think the 'Send to All' game didn't feel as good with Geri Halliwell. I was expecting to celeb responses, so it was a bit of a let down. May as well carry on playing with the general public if randoms will be responding!

This week's Unexpected Star had me crying with laughter! The actors in the cat café were much better than the ones in the last series:

Returning to BBC One on Saturday 23rd November. First show will feature Bear Grylls and Liam Payne (who performs 'Stack It Up').

Oh I'm glad this is back. One of the few decent Saturday night shows nowadays that's just good fun, pure and simple! Looking forward to seeing who does 'Send to All' this series!

Always enjoy this annual occurrence of Michael’s show, the comedy never dies with him. Decent celebrities so far this series, anticipating who will be on Send To All this week.

Is this not returning for Christmas this year then?

It looks like, for whatever reason, the BBC hasn't bothered commissioning a Christmas episode since the return after COVID and have opted to stick with The Wheel as the preferred McIntyre Christmas show (not that they couldn't have both).

There is a new series but yes, no Christmas special.

A shame really as I'm sure they could have fit one in but maybe a commitment thing.

Enjoying the series so far.

Unlike the unexpected star stars they've had previously they rushed to give Sophie Ellis-Bextor in-ears which I think is wise. 😄

Also with Send to All I do find it slightly odd, signing off a text - still love it though.

Remember Me throws up some great moments too.

Really enjoying the series! I wish they’d drop Send To All though, I always find it a bit repetitive now with the same old “wacky” responses.

Last night's was a good episode but I found KSI overly awkward? Send to All is a fab feature and doing a voice note / hearing the replies is a great idea.

Sophie's performance at the end was brilliant

I think everyone is in on it now. You can tell by the fact they now clearly use WhatsApp and they are most likely pooling together a list of "acceptable" contacts to put into a group and then just sending it that way.

The voice note element was fun though, a different spin on what they normally do. I think it worked better than the different approach they took with Katherine Ryan a few series back.

I found that whole voice note thing an incredible violation of privacy using someone's voice to send the message and then playing voice replies without consent on TV. It made me realise the possibility of what AI could conjure up on Send To All to make it see believable that it was the actual person sending the message.

My favourite parts of the show are the Midnight Gameshow and Remember Me.

I would argue that KSI relinquished his privacy the moment he agreed to let Michael into his phone.

The voice note was sneaky but he was reading something that he saw Michael type.

As for playing the replies, I imagine there's a lot that didn't make the cut but like I said before, I'm nearly 100% sure they knew it was Send to All.
