Posted May 31, 20169 yr Post your fave dance tracks that sold next to nothing yet are still bangers. This is one of my faves from back in the day, didn't chart at all. 4m9vlfmjDqM
May 31, 20169 yr Oh christ, where to start :P Defining "flops" are tricky, as there are songs that are known by thousands but may not have actually sold much (or charted high enough) but these are the first few that come to mind that deserve way more love: BK - Revolution (#42 in December 2002): GJcpKp9jLAc Hard-house banger that was really unlucky to just miss top 40 just before Christmas that year, particularly as BK never had a top 40 hit but came close so many times. The two keeping him from #40 that week were Craig David's 'What's Your Flava' and Britney's 'I Love Rock & Roll', neither entirely up there with early-noughties classics. Michael Woods - Solex (Close To The Edge) (#52 in November 2003) 72XQnQQ0bBA From the very end of the trance era - I thought this had just sneaked low top 40 but nope, #52 was as good as it got. Brilliant trance-pop fusion with great vocals over a huge backing track, but this kind of dance music was by now rapidly fading as a commercial force compared to the turn of the millennium. Tiesto feat Kirsty Hawkshaw - Just Be (#43 in October 2004): qEYueRVuqmg ....seriously, UK? Tiesto. TIESTO with one of his best ever tracks and it doesn't even go top 40. Compared to the crap under his name that was going top ten a decade later this is absolutely heavenly, a huge noughties classic up there with Delerium's Silence. Huge top 10 hit in Belgium (#8) and The Netherlands (#3!) and just sneaked in at #39 in the Scottish chart at least, but sadly not the UK as a whole. J Majik & Wickaman - Crazy World (#38 in August 2008): _7Hf2kh9Mz4 Five years before its time, but charted with no video or CD single release which was impressive back then. Today this would be a huge top 10 hit if not a #1 I think, massive D&B anthem.
May 31, 20169 yr This one it has a good video too: number 43 in June 2005 EPaBXbf2390 Or this from March 2006, only made number 19, great funky house tune, those funky strings are epic! 6m3Zk9SiZo8 This decade though it has to be this J2ouQMCcOz4 Didn't even make the top 100 :( This one was great too number 46 in July 2015 boo to streaming LO2RPDZkY88 Edited May 31, 20169 yr by TheSnake

'revolution' is an underrated 00's classic dance anthem ~ bk made the top40 on two occasions as part of 'nukleuz dj's' reaching #40 with 'dj nation' in 2002 and #33 with 'dj nation (bootleg edition) the following year
May 31, 20169 yr There are so many....What about this one from 2003 so bad it's good in March 2003 it was in the top 40 for 1 week at number 27 TQn0Fq34ad8 Or this more credible one from January 2005, one week at number 36 which i remember. Apparently it had a different version as a trance song in 1998 but I don't remember that one, and anyway that version only made number 38 jQ6HqFa0jmI Or this from 2005 as well a version of Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac by LNM Projekt and Bonnie Bailey which only reached number 38 despite the 80s covers and remixes trend at the time, and it sounds a bit like.... owruZtqHw2Y This flop from this year. Didnt make the top 100. Much much better than the Jonas Blue version imo. N9_l7er67hQ And this one from last year. Only made number 39 in August 2015 despite the whole 90s remixes thing that was going on last year 5ic5tpqyobM Edited May 31, 20169 yr by TheSnake
May 31, 20169 yr Paradise - See The Light (#73 in July 2005) fl1Uz2QwVAk Brilliant vocal track spoiled by naff production - that anonymous Flip & Fill-style trance-pop (absolutely out of fashion by '05) doesn't suit it at all, it needed a BIG remix to suit the singing. The version I remember hearing more than the above radio mix was the Audiolush mix - still not great but a little better than the above. 00wNE21IVqE Toddla T - Take It Back (#59 in June 2011) unpcCIisLQ8 Retro-90s throwback that, despite evoking the past, was released ahead of its time. A couple years later this would have charted huge with ease I reckon - although #59 on downloads probably meant it sold more that week than most of those I mentioned earlier. Yes I am.so glad that trance pop phase ended and we were left with far better Shapeshifters and Freemasons style disco house production and gave us a period until summer 2006 of the most disco like dance music since disco waned in the early 80s complete with great disco vocals too including in 2006 the Joey Negro, Blaze and Armand van Helden tracks.
June 1, 20169 yr Anyway sorry for posting so many dance flops but I think i have found my favourite. This only reached number 39 in May 2006. h26MtNfxTAY Edited June 1, 20169 yr by TheSnake
June 2, 20169 yr Just a few for now ^_^ Richard Grey - Tainted Love (Warped Bass) (UK #52 in 2007) /watch?v=R5ZWBiic4FY Joe Goddard feat. Valentina - Gabriel (UK #49 in 2011) /watch?v=1XtEFMP3-hA Darren Styles - Save Me (UK #70 in 2007) /watch?v=zAwh1h4iD3s Hot Natured feat. Anabel Englund - Reverse Skydiving (UK #56 in 2013) /watch?v=KPKf-Cf5IEg Edited June 2, 20169 yr by lewistgreen
June 2, 20169 yr 'Save Me' always felt *way* more known than its #70 peak suggested - I saw Darren Styles do a few live sets in the late noughties and the crowd knew every single word. Yeah it's cheesy (as was a lot of Clubland stuff of the era) but a great singalong/hands-in-air fave.
June 2, 20169 yr I remeber hearing two tropical house songs by Unicorn kid on nighttime Nick Grimshaw on Radio 1 in 2011 that would have been big hits if they were released a few years later Jd3KKqxgPxw And K52vP-HRBz4
June 2, 20169 yr What about Naughty Boys first top 40 single in January 2006. It was a remix of the Baywatch theme tune. Went against Sunblock's in the charts and lost out, but managed to reach number 39 in the chart. Its not even on Youtube but here's the link. https://play.google.com/store/music/album/N...eh7rtulnuvgbzta

June 2, 20169 yr Not the same Naughty Boy - that was a collection of (German?) DJs, the one responsible for 'La La La' etc came later. (although I thought they were the same for years too)
June 2, 20169 yr Released in January 2015 but did absolutely nothing with no support despite being MK! Really adore this. /watch?v=Uz_ZHXDYC8w
June 2, 20169 yr Author just got reminded of this drum n' bass choon, which really should've done better in the chart as it was around the time of DJ Fresh's peak. Drumsound & Bassline Smith - Through The Night [feat. Tom Cane] [2012, UK #34] S85q2xSpwUI The duo also released a song with Fleur East before she was famous! Only made #53 though, and isn't as good as the one linked above. Also from around the same time: Matrix & Futurebound - All I Know [feat. Luke Bingham] [2012, UK #29] o_ofHHlSdcU Follow-ups 'Magnetic Eyes' and 'Control' would be vastly more successful, shame this didn't perform too well.
June 2, 20169 yr  for 'Reverse Skydiving'. This has become an all-time fave of mine over the past year, #64 in 2005: PtwxWe7jl_c
