August 5, 20168 yr Here to watch the whole thing. Even if I fall asleep during it. Â Seems to be much more quaint and oddball than London and especially Beijing. So far at least.
August 6, 20168 yr On the whole, good opening ceremony, really liked the climate awareness and the flame bit at the end, was a lot less impressive than the last two. Â Anyway, anyone watching stuff today? I'm going to try and catch snippets of as many different sports as I can, prioritising medals of course. So much on the timetable already, I'd forgotten just how big this stuff was.
August 6, 20168 yr I thought the opening ceremony was good but it wasn't as good as London's opening ceremony. I was really fighting falling sleep last night, the time zone difference might be a big problem with trying to catch up on the events. The first gold medal is about to be won by either China or USA in the shooting now.
August 6, 20168 yr I've just seen a bit of the road race, through Rio, it was so beautiful to watch, especially when they were racing around the promenade of the beach, and going uphill some of them were struggling, its just a gruelling race to watch. The rowing is going to be a killer with strong winds, probably watch some of that later.
August 6, 20168 yr Really wish they hadn't added rugby. Like, fine sport and all, but I get antsy watching such a long sport because I worry about missing other, quicker stuff.

August 6, 20168 yr Author No if you want to do this mate. Go ahead. Pavel was in the lead of the men's cycling race at one point. Â

I was really fighting falling sleep last night, the time zone difference might be a big problem with trying to catch up on the events. The first gold medal is about to be won by either China or USA in the shooting now. So you were right, USA won the first gold but China was close, silver and bronze for them   It seems the first star of the Games was the flag bearer from Tonga OMG, what have I missed? :o MEDAL TABLE (I'll try and update this for y'all if you want.) GOLD - 3pts SILVER - 2pts BRONZE - 1pt  http://static.bbci.co.uk/onesport/2.8.1518/images/flags/vide-code/us.png 1. August 6, 20168 yr Author Crash at a crucial point between Nibali and Henao and now Geriant Thomas has crashed. Â
August 6, 20168 yr Author In the men's 100m breaststroke, Great Britain's Adam Peaty has just set a world record during the heats. Â
August 6, 20168 yr Shouldn't China have 3 Pts? They were also third, weren't they? Oops. I messed that up but I'll make the format better and more reflective of the actual standings in future.Â
August 6, 20168 yr The cycling was fantastic. The crash really changed things and it was unfortunate that Poland couldn't hold on to get gold.
August 6, 20168 yr Author The presenting team for Rio 2016:Â http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/mediapacks/rio/tv
August 6, 20168 yr Author I quite enjoyed the men's road race for sure. Just seen Peaty's world record. He's a definite for gold if he maintains that form. Â
August 6, 20168 yr The Cycling road race was so gripping to watch, especially losing 2 from the front 3 at the last descent, than the lead was caught in the dying seconds, so many twists and turns. Team GB did well to keep up, shame Thomas missed out just lost it at the last descent as well, the cameraman didn't even get a shot of it, the coverage was pretty ropey though
