Omg I just saw the video of that man breaking hsi leg

Should NOT have watched it. Nope nope nope

Eek :x

Anyway, Hungary win the gold in Women's Eplee Fencing. I was surprised how entertaining that was to watch as I've never properly watched a game of fencing and it is quite intense (and super cool of course what with it looking like Daft Punk sword fighting).

This is so sad. He practised and prepared himself 4 years long for the Olympics and breaks his leg in the qualifications :(

On another news, Hungary win the first gold medal in Rio already on the first day  :cheer:

let's have a look at this leg break thing then...

NONONOONOONNO WHAT THE f*** THAT'S THE MOST HORRID THING I'VE SEEN ALL YEAR

Is it even worse than the Demba Ba leg break? If so I'll pass...

A loud crack was heard in the arena/ on my TV :o I had to look away, as it did sent shivers down my spine. Cancel that its been taken off

Finding weightlifting quite compelling watching. One athlete from Japan failed her first two attempts and only just managed it on the third and that sort of stuff is amazing to watch for the tension.

Sopita Tanasan of Thailand is my new 48kg hero. Just took 3 increasing weights above all the others so far like it was nothing and seems to be really enjoying herself, definitely cheering her on for the gold. Rio's now making me a weightlifting fan then, I think I mainly skipped it last time.

also I'm not looking up that leg break video, your descriptions of it all have me quite satisfied.

Awful to see what happened to the French vaulter.

Love how the media ignores all sport except football, as do most people, till the Olympics and now suddenly all these sports are hugely exciting, with people screaming at their tvs for swimmers they normally wouldn't pay a second look!!! Incredible. Mad world.

Yep I'm only gonna post the top 10 and significant others with formatting because it does take a bit of time to do it with resized flags.

I see your point especially with sports that shown every four years on the BBC such as beach volleyball, volleyball, handball, shooting and fencing even water polo. And then there is no coverage of those sports at all on the BBC after the Olympics is over.

For those sports though, they matter when it's the Olympics, there's a big meaning behind them and it's the pinnacle of their career, that's partly why it is so enjoyable to watch because it's tense. I'd probably like these sports to be shown more but other competitions wouldn't hold as much interest. While popular sports like football and tennis have big competitions separate from the Olympics that mean things to the audience.
Yep. It's all about fanbases and if sports don't have a fanbase outside the Olympics then there's no point showing it/

Although I do enjoy those sports at the Olympics and should stay there. Thrilling to watch for anyone who hasn't these sports before.
