if you don't appeal then we'll have nothing to consider so i'd say if you believe it's worth a shot then go for it, that's what we're here for - to listen and to be as fair as possible

:s there have been FAR more egregious cases of people making it incredibly obvious what their entry is, if you were gonna suddenly swing the banhammer for that offence why not at least do it on a song that has even the slightest case for being a genuine veto?

Catching up this is absolutely ridiculous. I know the mods have their jobs and the veto is needed, but I'm sorry just because Tim has played a song on plug a couple of times (and I'm on there a lot more often than him so I doubt I missed :P), does not mean a significant Buzzjack following. TONNES of people do exactly the same as Tim, pst lyrics and get "YASSS" etc. posted in their thread, is it really a worthy veto that five people have heard it beforehand? I'm pretty sure that many people heard Daddy Says No, The Ocean, even Se avessi un cuore, to name a few from the past few contests, you wouldn't veto when the semis have opened because like 4 people show that they love it, so why is it fine now? Tim has never said "I'm sending this", he's done what loads of people do, played a song on plug which is allowed, and we guessed from the hint. I really don't see what was wrong with that :/ Why is playing songs like twice on external sites punished, it's not that different to PMing a few people potentials.... Most nights now plug ends up being like 5 or 6 people :lol:

Personally, I think Ketalina's idea of a PSA etc coming first would cause less controversy.

Re the whole plug thing, I have no idea how many people would listen to the songs but I do agree with Liam's point that it really isn't very different to people PMing potentials to each other to get opinions - something that lots of us have done over the years.

It does feel like the contest could use some adjusting to the veto process. Some of the vetoes are kinda are a bit much imho. We need a balance between strict and fair. right now it seems more strict. I mean the fact like 6 or 7 vetoes today proves that :lol: Most of them I get. I dont get Tims at all and the reasosoning is a bit unfair too. Like it seems people could get what he was sending due to it being sent as a potesh to them. However, he has hardly sent it to everyone or played it loads on plug to have 'exsposure'. Just in my opinion seems so unfair on Tim when there are bigger cases out there :lol:

This is completely and utterly ridiculous Blush has been vetoed and takes away from the whole point of this contest being discoveries. A few of us only knew it as Tim had shown it to us a potential, how does that make for a significant following? So many people play potentials to each other and there have been loads more songs that have got through which have been played to a few people. This just feels ridiculous just because Tim was getting hype from some of us, many entries have gotten early hype, look at Daddy Says No from last month which received even more hype. I'm not saying that should've been vetoed, none of these songs should be being vetoed just because someone has played them to others as a potential.

 

This really disappoints me actually as this just feels like finding any random reason to veto songs with hype from other members here.

Mind you I've only seen Tim play "Blush" ONCE on Plug. I know that's not really helping considering I haven't been on recently but it's still a bit ridiculous how plug/dubtrack exposure can equal "revealing your entry before semis opened". I know I played New Politics a lot before I sent them this time last year but I didn't realize that now that can lead to a veto?

The spin-off doesn't have the same veto, there still is a veto in place so people don't take the piss and send like.... Ellie Goulding - Your Song (idk that was my first thought :lol:). But, it's just based on the sample or cover itself, how they use the sample or how they reinterpret it as a cover. So if it was a straight up karaoke cover of something, then no that's not enough, but say a piano cover of a dance song or a recognisable sample melody in the chorus, they're both fine. The veto would probably only come into play in the same way as "normal" BJSC if it was a UK hit or something and it was too well known, not for Buzzjack coverage or being played on plug or anything :P

that's a bit much no? i've enjoyed pretty much constant success (thankfully) and i don't think anyone's tried to thwart my entry choices!
