She mentioned on Twitter that this will be wrapping up at the end of the year, so looks like there will be a re-release or a standalone EP.

Bad move if they’re still continuing with the era through a re-release imo. This era has been going on forever and dragging it out even more, unnecessarily, means that there’s less hype for the second era. It seems to happen to lots of artists where a protacted first era leads to a less successful than expected second era.

If Electricty sounds like a hit, they should push that hard over autumn/Q4 just to tide things over until the second era.

If a re-release or a standalone EP are going to happen, it seems that it's scheduled to be released next month.

From Twitter:

🚨 DUA LIPA FANS 🚨 POP EMERGENCY! BIG REVEAL HERE

Want To, New Rules (Live), Running, Electricity and a collab with BLACKPINK titled Kiss and Make Up will all be released in September and October.

That said, "Electricity" isn't going to be there because it's a track from Silk City, but the rest of the four songs are.

Blackpink is a surprising collab I must say!

This is going to be re-released on October 19. The aforementioned new songs (excluding "One Kiss" and "Electricity", I assume) will be on there.

To complement this, it's going to be a double disc re-release. No information about the tracklisting yet, but I hope Dua will do this in a couple of hours.

One Kiss should definitely be included I think, it’s her biggest hit to date (or at least second after New Rules) and she is on it as a joint credit.

She mentioned that "One Kiss" was going to be included on her second album when she was interviewed by a Brazilian TV show. I think that one and "Electricity" make more sense in the upcoming album (if the latter is planned to be included of course) rather than the first one, aside that the former is one of her biggest hits as you mentioned. However, there's a possibility that any or both of them will be included as well.

Scrap the aforementioned because she confirmed that "One Kiss" and "Electricity", plus "No Lie" and "Scared to be Lonely", are going to be included in the re-release.

I wish she'd done new artwork for the re-release but I do like the effect on the background. I just think it's a really unflattering photo of her:

Full order of the new tracks:

1. "Want to"

2. "Running"

3. "Kiss and Make Up" (with Blackpink)

4. "One Kiss" (with Calvin Harris)

5. "Electricity" (with Silk City)

6. "Scared to Be Lonely" (with Martin Garrix)

7. "No Lie" (with Sean Paul)

8. "New Rules" (Live)

Has she performed "Running" or "Kiss and Make Up" anywhere before? I'm surprised she didn't include "High" on this as well just so that all her released songs to date can be heard in one place. I'm a bit apprehensive about the Blackpink collab because I know nothing about them and CHVRCHES' recent collaboration with a K-pop artist is a mess.

It does seem a bit pointless overall though, the features all following one another in order in particular as they all have completely different sounds but I'm glad that "Scared to Be Lonely" will finally feature as it's one of the first songs of hers that I properly loved. I think if she'd left it until 2019/20 to include "One Kiss" on an album, it would've been too late so I'm glad that she's not dragging it on any longer.

I knew One Kiss would be on it it. It would have made 0 sense to do a re-release and not put one of the biggest hits of the year on it, and save it for the album in a year when the song was very old news.

Blackpink are SO good, I can't wait for their collab!

Wednesday Campanella (Japanese :P) is a bit more... out there for want of a better word, so isn't really a comparison at all  I think they'll fit very well with Dua, they make great pop bangers. I'm pretty sure 2 or 3 speak English too (maybe all 4 of them even) so it will probably run smoothly in English, although it could be a bilingual track to help Dua make more waves in Asia I suppose.

Agreed, it gives me Jess Glynne album cover vibes. Plus her look has changed since then so would make sense to capture that with a new artwork.

Not at least bothering with a new cover is lazy AF, especially given how LONG this era has been.

(This even misses out New Love and Be The One (again))

I'm glad she's throwing everything she has on it, meaning we'll be starting from scratch next year with her next album which is a good thing.

It would've been nice to have maybe an acoustic version of Scared To Be Lonely instead of the original, same goes for No Lie which will be almost 2 years old by the time this is released  Just different versions of the really old stuff (like how theres a live version of New Rules) to stop it from basically becoming a dance album towards the end

  • 4 weeks later...

It is good she has included all the songs.

This will likely give the album a huge sales boost in Q4.
