Am building a huge flock of Pidgeys led by a Pidgeotto as that's pretty much all there IS around me. No Pokestops or gyms particularly close, either. :( Going to have to go a lot further afield to survive.

 

(have also picked up a Zubat and I did see a Seel which got away but no, otherwise, I'm going full #terraavium here)

Hint for those looking to Evolve/Power Up a Pokemon.

Catch as many as you can of that pokemon (ie. Pidgey) because you're not only given Stardust/Pidgey Candy to Powerup Up/Evolve other Pidgey's - you can also "Transfer" them to earn an additional Pidgey (or whatever) candy. You will lose the Pokemon, but get their candy. BAII 900 PIDGEY'S. I NEED A PIDGEOT.

I somehow stumbled accross a wild Pidgeot (!) and used up basically all of my pokeballs trying to catch it, to no success. And since I got it via Australia it means that I can't go via an in-app purchase. I am cry!

Also some other observations, I seem to be getting Drowzee as the most common pokemon around here and the only local pokestop is...a crematorium. Yay dead people!

Can you get the full experience of this game without buying any in-app purchases?

I'm level 4. Caught some myself loads of pidgeys and rattatas, pidgeotto, weedle, caterpie and a jinyx all for good measure.

I'm in the suburbs on the very edge of a city, if I walk all the way into town I can see a lot of them but my 3G is prone to clunking out at any point when I am out so I haven't been able to visit one for supplies yet.

 

Seems like you don't need in-app purchases Oliver (well, after it's properly released here that is), unless you really can't get access to any pokestops and run out of balls.

My trip to Universal Studios was a GOLDMINE for Pokemon and Pokestops. There were also two gyms at the CityWalk! (though I didn't get to them, I was only two days into the game then)

 

I need more Water types. And a Venomoth. I'm working on an Arcanine to join my Marowak tbh :D

I feel like living in the drug capital of the north east is going to be a chore for me with this.

 

Can totally imagine Blyth being full of Hitmonlee/Hitmonchan with all the 'roid abuse, and Grimer because it's a shithole. With no other Pokemon and a scare supply of Pokestops and Gyms. :lol:

There's two pokestops at my building, one by the front door and one out back on the Quays that I can get from my bed *.*

If you've connected it to your Google account I think from what I saw it said you just have to redownload the app and it'll all be there.

 

On my playing, every time I find a Pokemon that isn't a Pidgey, and this has happened three times now, just as I catch it in the Pokeball the app crashes and I lose it :drama: As a result I'm only level 2 so haven't gotten on a team yet.
