It’s Salt Ashes for a second week with the fab Save It, just ahead of Grace leaping to 8 and her second top 5 following You Don’t Own Me. She’s a Hell Of A Girl, but When The Night Comes it’s ELO I turn to, with their highest charting of the year, and extending Jeff Lynne’s top 10 run to just over 44 years.

 

As I at long last take advantage of only 3 new entries to chop my chart to 90, fingers crossed I can get it back to 75 soon! Olly Murs is back, but that’s nothing compared to The Stone Roses chart return after a gap of 20 odd years, and 27 years since debuting. Inside the 40, going up is Rick Astley grabbing his 2nd top 40 of the year, Alan Walker does the same, while Bob Marley’s Is This Love is back inside the 40 after a gap of 38 years, albeit remix stylee. Bob has now had more remixed and reissued chart entries since he died than hits when he was alive. Rihanna’s Star Trek movie theme does better than any of her latest album tracks in my chart, and returns her to the 40, just as well as it’s unheard of for any of her previous albums not to have at least ONE top 40 track.

Hi Jason, thanks for that, yes still loving Salt Ashes to bits, such a classic. Grace is fab too, Jesper Jenset is a Buzzjack Song Contest track - have you ever had a go at it?

 

I loved Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up, but after that not so much, really, just a couple of OK singles. I think he's much better now, generally, he's a better song-writer than his first efforts after leaving Stock Aitken Waterman - his first songs killed his career really, oops! :lol:

Thanks Seven, yes still adore Otra Era. So fab! I was playing it in the car yesterday, and trying to pronounce Otra Era Chilean style singing along (it's not easy) :lol: I even popped onto Wikipedia to check out Spanish accent variations around the world (and grammar!) afterwards - there's a lot!
