It's missing a big chorus, for me. It also sounds like they've X1.5'd the song, it's as if she's rushing through it.

Maybe it'll grow but I think her voice on the chorus is a little too out there to properly connect with the GP who loved pop Gaga.

OMG. Just been on Spotify and there's a massive banner advertising a new (?) playlist called HITS, and Gaga is already right at the top :cheer:

This hit me immediately, the chorus is quite something and it's refreshing to hear her not chasing trends. Her vocals sound quite frantic but I suppose it's because of the energy and drama of the track.

I like her vocals, but this is lacking a chorus and is a bit repetitive. Thankfully it is better than 'Applause' though, but I feel like I'm forcing this to try and grow on me. Bottom tier Gaga single for me.

I am enjoying this and it has a catchy enough hook but it's not really one of her best :/ It feels over very quickly without ever getting to a really exciting place, the key change is probably the best bit but it doesn't hit the high points of stuff like Bad Romance/The Edge of Glory.. Even Applause was a catchier tune which I far prefer to this so far.

Not what I was expecting but I think I could actually grow to really like this! So catchy with the repeated "IT WASN'T LAAAARVE" and I think the video, if the single cover and the Blonde Ambition (:kink:) picture are video stills, will really bring out the best of the song. Plus I think it will sound huge in the club with everyone trying to match those vocals!

I LOVE IT.

 

My first listen was very "oh gosh, what's this...!!" but with each listen everything is falling into place wonderfully. The 80s vibe, the extreme passion in her vocals, how "huge" the record sounds (vocals/production) and how it builds... it's just glorious. :snif: It's pretty much the antithesis of what's in the charts right now, but all the better for it!

 

I really sense sincerity and genuine passion from Gaga with this song (also taking into account how she spoke about it / reacted to it during her Radio 1 interview... dancing around in a carefree manner to it :heart: ). It just feels to me like this isn't a "calculated" record at all, like Born This Way or Applause probably were. This is like she's a lot more at ease in her artistry... it makes for a refreshing listen.

 

I fully expect a lot of fans / music lovers not to have expected this sort of sound at all - I certainly didn't. I really hope with further listens that it's going to worm its way into their affections, once the initial "shock" has subsided.

 

Overall, it's really making me sooo much more excited for the prospect of LG5. And imagining this performed on tour... help. :cry:

Oh yeah, I was thinking it was somewhere near the beginning but it's pretty damn obvious now! :P

I'm not really feeling this. Like some others have said, it's too rushed and repetitive for me. It obviously sticks in your head but that's because by the end of the song, you feel as if the whole thing has just been 'It wasn't love, it was a perfect illusion'. For me, it just needs to have calmed down a bit and had a bigger chorus. Shame because I was really looking forward to it, especially considering Mark Ronson's influence - it should have been one of my favourites! Give me 'Applause' anyday though oops
