Hi Jeff

Starboy is very catchy but I was expecting more from this collaboration between The Weeknd & Daft Punk. By the way, it will be a new entry in my new chart next week. :P

Isn't 'Somewhere In Between' an old song now? By the way, it's a nice song. :D

@Riser: "Everything" is definitely the song of 2016 at this rate. :P And as for "am I familiar with other Lifehouse songs"... ;D
YAY :cheer: I love Somewhere In Between!

@Jason: I was also expecting something maybe a bit more upbeat, but it works well enough for me.

As for Somewhere In Between being old? Yep. It's like 16 years old. But I've had much older songs do even better. :P

@Riser: It's worn out on me a bit in past days, but it's still good!

"How Long" by Lifehouse rises to the Top, grabbing a 2nd consecutive day at #1 for Lifehouse! This is the first time two artists have gotten back-to-back hits on the JeffCharts! However, Lifehouse doesn't manage to nab a 2nd day of locking up the Top 2, as "2Shy" by Shura has a hotshot debut at #2! "Somewhere in Between", yesterday's #1, falls 1-3. "Sunshine on My Shoulders" and "Gentle Descent" both hold #4 and #5 respectively. "Starboy" falls 3-6, "Here Comes a Thought" drops 6-7, "Speed of Sound" rises 10-8, "Shelter" falls 7-9, and "Sea of Voices" falls 8-10. Outside the Top 10, Jean Leloup debuts "1990" at #20.

"2Shy" by Shura rises 2-1! This brings down Lifehouse's "How Long" to #2. "Sunshine on My Shoulders" rebounds 4-3, as does Starboy at 6-4. "Somewhere In Between" is knocked back 3-5 by the aforementioned gains. "1990" roars into the Top 10, moving 20-6. Dexys Midnight Runners debut "Jackie Wilson Said (I'm In Heaven When You Smile)" at #7, their first hit on the JeffCharts! "Gentle" Descent" falls 5-8, "Speed of Sound" falls 8-9, and "Sea of Voices" holds #10. Outside the Top 10, "Your Type" returns after being knocked out yesterday, and "Take Care" by Drake ft. Rihanna debuts at #20.

Stay tuned for future updates!

The top spot for today remains Shura's as she holds #1 with "2Shy". "How Long" holds #2 for a 3rd non-consecutive day, while "Somewhere In Between" rises back to #3. Dexys' Midnight Runners nab their first Top 5 hit with "Jackie Wilson Said (...)" as it moves 7-4. "1990" by Jean Leloup rises 6-5, also his first Top 5 hit. The highest debut this week comes from Bridgit Mendler and Kaiydo with "Atlantis" at #6. "Starboy", meanwhile, falls 4-7, and "Sunshine on My Shoulders" drops 3-8. Chumbawamba debut their second song, the 90s classic "Tubthumping", at #9. Their last hit was "Amnesia" from 2014, which hit #1 for 3 days back in April of that year. Porter Robinson's "Sea of Voices" holds #10. Outside the Top 10, Take Care rises 20-11, ready to enter the Top 10 tomorrow.

And since we're just 4 days away from the end of the month, here are my predictions for the Top 5 of the Month End of September 2016 at the moment:

1) Coldplay - Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (#1 for 3 days in September)

2) Les Colocs - Tassez-vous de d'là (#1 for 1 day)

3) Justin Timberlake - FutureSex/LoveSound (#1 for 3 days)

4) Carly Rae Jepsen - Your Type (#1 for 2 days)

5) The Chainsmokers ft. Halsey - Closer (#1 for 1 day)

Curious to see how accurate this ends up being! Anyway, see you on the next update!

Great Chart :D

@HarryEzra: Both are pretty good! And Atlantis is a song that's been buzzed about a lot in a community I hang out in.

Sorry for the long wait since the last update. Since there's a lot of days, I'll just present all the charts without my usual commentary, and post the Month End charts in the next post.

In a nutshell, Into You holds to a 2nd day at #1, then leaving place to Pigeons Playing Ping Pong's 1st #1: Melting Lights! They first hit the charts back in 2014 with their #2 peaking smash hit, "F.U.". They also do rather well with "Walk Outside", which peaks at #2 on Oct. 2nd but then retreats to #4. "Love Unspoken", a hit from the unspoken era that was December 2015, makes its glorious return at #4 and rises to #3 on Oct. 3rd! Carly also returns to the charts with "Making The Most of the Night" at #19. 1990 by Jean Leloup manages to hold on to strong showings, nestling itself at #2 in the latest update, now 10 days into its chart run!

See you later for a new update!

Stars' "Hold On..." jumps back 8-5, Jon Bellion's "80s Films" bounces 9-6, while Diamonds by Rihanna falls 4-7. Summertime Sadness falls 6-8, Cold Water by Major Lazer drops 5-9, while Rebecca Sugar's "Love Like You" re-enters at a new peak, #10! Below the Top 10, twenty one pilots continue holding the upper reaches of the bottom half as Fairly Local moves up 13-12. Hi Jeff

I'll copy you and say these songs are all fairly unfamiliar to me. I'm not Canadian enough I guess

By the way, I went to You Tube and listened 2 songs: that funny 'version' of Ghostbusters  and Passenger's The Long Road. The latter is a beautiful song. :P

Hiya Jeff! :D

I'm afraid I don't know many songs in your recent chart at all, but All That is a great Carly track! I wasn't sure on it at first but it grew on me with repeated listens.

I need to get around to hearing the new Passenger album at some point!

@Jason: In all fairness these are mostly fairly obscure artists. I wouldn't expect many people to know of Over the Rhine, Tritonal and Harmonium. :P

@HarryEzra: Shura is great :D Unfortunately the Passenger song didn't last for too long but it's a cute song!

@SePetember Song: It's a novelty hit. :P There's a lot of those in the JeffCharts, at least definitely compared to other personal charts here :P

@JosephStyles: All That is a lovely song. My love of 80s soft rock ballads (especially with Can't Fight This Feeling by REO Speedwagon this year) made me like this tune instantly. It's a great song!

New year, new songs! Time for the first chart of 2017!

20 (17) Glass Animals - Pork Soda (2 - 1 - 3 - 4 - 8 - 8 - 12 - 10 - 10 - 14 - 17 - 20) (6)

S, aka Jenn Champion, debuts her first song, "Tell Me", at #1, as SHIROCK starts off the year with a new #2 debut, "Still Young". "Bad Reputation" by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, the theme song to "Freaks & Geeks", has a hotshot debut at #3 primarily off of listening it in the title sequence of the show. Michael Whalen's "I Have Loved You For A Thousand Lifetimes" and "Swimming In A Lovely Sea Of You" hold strong numbers as they rise one spot 5-4 and 6-5 respectively. Harmonium's "Chanson noire" dips 4-6 from its peak. It's probably one of the songs to have taken the longest to reached its current peak, as it hit #4 on its 17th day on the charts, over 2 weeks since it appeared on the charts! "Great Days", the #1 song of December 2016, dips 3-7, while the #1 on the previous chart of December 28th 2016, "99" by MOB CHOIR, falls 1-8. Styx's "Come Sail Away" debuts at #9 thanks to a feature in the first episode of Freaks & Geeks, while Tegan and Sara's "Stop Desire" debuts at #10. Below the Top 10, Jon Bellion's "All Time Low" continues rebounding up as it moves 14-13, and Alan Walker debuts a new song, "Routine", at #14 with David Whistle.

The drop-outs for this chart are all songs that had charted earlier this year but re-appeared for a year-end boost: "Overnight" by The Wild Feathers, "Dancing Crazy" by Miranda Cosgrove, "True Love Waits" by Radiohead, "Your Type" by Carly Rae Jepsen, and "Never Leave The Sun" by Yanni ft. Leslie Mills. One song doesn't particularly fit this category, "Warning" by Air Dubai ft. Patricia Lynn, which was a song that had debuted in the "December 2015 blackout" and thus was mainly charting to gain points it had never gotten a chance to get.

Stay tuned for more! :)

"Sh*t" jumps 3-1 off its debut yesterday, marking Neil Cicierega's 2nd foray to the top of the charts. His previous one was with "Bustin'", a previously stand-alone song which is included in Neil Cicierega's latest mashup album, "Mouth Moods". "Sh*t" is the closing song of the album, mashing up many songs such as Spice Girls' "Wannabe", the "This sh*t is bananas" line from "Hollaback Girl", and the chorus of Limp Bizkit's "My Way" which was reworked to make references to defecating. This song is the first expletive to hit #1, but not the first profane song to hit the charts. In fact, Nine Inch Nails profaned the charts with "March of the F*ckheads" back in August last year, which peaked at #2.

Ed Sheeran's "Castle on the Hill" moves 5-2 after spending two consecutive days holed up on its #5 debut. The song is one of two of Sheeran's new debuts from his upcoming album "Divide", and is so far his only hit on the JeffCharts. Mobley's "Hound The World" roars into the Top 5, 9-3. The song marks the band's first hit on the charts, which was discovered thanks to Spotify's "Discover Weekly" function.

"Paris" by Willy William ft. Cris Cab drops 2-4. The song has now spent a whole week in the top 5 proper! Kanye West and Jay-Z's "Diamonds From Sierra Leone" remix falls 4-5, and Hot Dad's "Big Money Salvia" falls off the top 1-6. Operators' "Cold Light" gains a boost as it moves 8-7, while Kanye West's biggest #1 to date, "Gold Digger" (which spent 4 days at #1), with Jamie Foxx, falls 6-8. The Chainsmokers' "Paris" falls 7-9, while Men At Work's "I Like To" returns to the Top 10 as it rebounds 11-10.

Below the Top 10, "Only One" by Illenium ft. Nina Sung makes its 2nd re-entry at #17, and "Wallspin" by Neil Cicierega gains a bit off its debut as it inches to #18. Neil Cicierega's "Tiger" dropped off the charts after debuting at #18 yesterday.

Stay tuned for future updates! Below are the precise details of the January 28th 2017 chart:

Green Light holds #1, Two Steps From Hell debuts new single

Lorde's "Green Light" continues to dominate in its 2nd day in spite of a close challenge from former #1 "Something Just Like This". Read further for details!

Green Light holds its #1 spot for a 2nd day. This song marked Lorde's first arrival to the spot. Previously, "Team" and "Royals" both peaked at #2, in January 2014 and September 2013 respectively. She also appeared on Disclosure's Magnets, which peaked at #3 in October 2015. This marks her first solo single in over 3 years, and her first appearance overall in over a year.

The Chainsmokers & Coldplay's "Something Just Like This" rebounds 3-2 after having fallen off it's 2 day #1 debut, regaining a lot of the points it had lost the day before. It could possibly challenge "Green Light" for the #1 in the coming days. SJLT marked The Chainsmokers' 3rd #1 hit: their previous hits were "Roses" which held the spot for 3 days, and "Closer" which held #1 for a single chart frame. It also marked Coldplay's 5th #1 hit, their previous ones having been the mega smash "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall" which held the spot for 6 days between August and September 2016, "Speed of Sound" which held for 3 days, "Hymn for the Weekend" which held for 3 days, and "A Head Full of Dreams" which held for 1 day.

Brian H. Kim and Patrick Stump's spoilerific "The Ballad of Star Butterfly" rebounds 4-3. This marks Star VS The Forces of Evil's 2nd venture into the JeffCharts, but its first in the Top 5; the theme song "I'm From Another Dimension" by Brad Breeck had a brief chart run in the bottom of the charts back in October 2015. "You Are Dead" by Kent Carmical, Joe and Maura Sparks falls 2-4 off its peak yesterday, but continues to hold a decent showing. twenty-one pilots' "Migraine" holds its #5 peak as its predecessor single "Car Radio" fell off the charts today. This marks their 5th single, and the 4th to hit the Top 5. The only single which failed to hit that area was "Fairly Local", which only peaked at #7.

In the rest of the Top 10, "Meant To Be" by Two Steps From Hell holds #6, "Amber" by 311 rebounds massively 19-7, "A New Way To Bleed" by Evanescence holds #8, "La complainte de la butte" by Zaz holds #9, "We Will Rock You (Fast)" by Queen falls 7-10.

Outside the Top 10, "Remembrance" by Two Steps From Hell rebounds 16-12, "Dancin' In Circles" by Lady Gaga bounces back slightly 15-13, and Two Steps From Hell make a new debut with "Forever In My Dreams" at #16. This marks the act's 5th single to hit the charts in over a month. Looking at the performance of 2SFH this past month, 3 singles hit the Top 2: Remembrance hit #1, Frozen Moment hit #2, and Meant to Be (recharting after a dismal run back in 2015) hit #2. Only one single really flopped so far: "Sweet May" which went no further than #13 when the group mass-debuted 3 songs in a single day. The group also had a myriad of minor hits over the years: In 2014 "Jump" hit their highest peak at the time, #4, "Lux Aeterna" peaked at #8 back in December 2014 and briefly recharted in 2016, "Decimator" and "Day Becomes Night" were brief flashes in October and January 2016 respectively. The group's meteoric rise to popularity in the span of a month after years of disappointing performance is nothing short of inspiring! Sources say that "Lux Aeterna" might be re-released sometime this month in hopes of giving the song a new peak!
