This is not the news I expected to hear today. Absolutely devastating for Tony :( This is going to be an incredibly emotional era!!!!

Omg!! :o I didn't know he had that!! Did they decide to release a final album for the fans and asked GaGa to help,or was C2C started before the condition got this bad?

Apparently they have been recording in widely spaced out sessions between 2018 and early 2020. There have been huge delays due to A Star is Born commitments, promotion/touring for Joanne, recording Chromatica and now of course Covid which is why they have been recording on-and-off throughout the past few years!

So proud of Gaga and Tony's family for sticking by him through this! Alzheimers is such a misunderstood condition ignored by so many and this is a great way to show how strong and talented he is

Agreed. This will be great awareness for many on the condition.

Sad news about Tony Bennett :( Hopefully there will be a cure for the cruel condition that is Alzheimer's soon. I am looking forward to hearing this album anyway.

My grandma had Alzheimer's and she passed away in 2019. She was 92. Considering the state Tony is in, based to the article, he has maybe a year or two left at best. But every day is a gift at this point

 Sorry to hear that! This must have sent you back to that in a hard-hitting way.

I have never experienced this first hand with anyone close to me, and so don't know as much about it as others may. I am going to use this era to really learn more about it however.

It terrifies me. Such a cruel disease.

It was of course heartbreaking but at the same time, it is kind of relief. The funeral was beautiful with people sharing their fondest memories. But, like Jase said, it is a cruel disease because a person is there but also absent at the same time.

That article is spot on in many aspects and Tony's close ones seem to do it all right.

Does it come on suddenly or will he have had it back when they were recording CtoC 1?

It never comes sudden, but sometimes it's diagnosed pretty late. My grandma lived almost 10 years after the diagnosis. It starts with small things, like forgetting what to buy from grocery store and goes on to not being able to speak or recognosing your family. My grandma thought that my mother was her sister, and she didn't recognise me even a year before she passed away. It is totally possible that Tony does not know who Gaga is any more (or thinks she is his high school friend or sth).

My grandmother and I were born on the same date and we used to celebrate our birthdays together and 2013 was the last year that we were able to celebrate in this way, as she was affected by Alzheimer's disease, months before her transition to the spiritual plane in 2014, five months before the release of CTC. I was in high school at the time and when school hours were over, I used to go with my mother to her house, we would spend hours there to help take care of her. The fact that I watched her say goodbye little by little without being able to do anything left me with a huge feeling of helplessness and sadness. So, this new jazz album will be very significant for me, but I don't know if I will have the strength to watch this documentary.

This comment honestly hit me SO HARD. That is heart-breaking :(

 Lots of love :( as mentioned, it's going to be hugely emotional for many but especially with personal connections like this </3

I just realized that "I don't remember ARTPOP" could be reference to Tony's Alzheimer's :o Maybe they were recording at the time?

 :( Also the fact that C2C came just after ARTPOP so it could have been mentioned in the recording of this second part. Who knows though.
