October 24, 20168 yr Author That's good news actually, she should be able to walk that category due to the relatively weak competition aside from Michelle Williams so she'll get her win so we could see one of Natalie Portman and Emma Stone win the main category. Then it gives the likes of Amy Adams/Jessica Chastain more chance to get a nomination too so hopefully that is the case when the Oscar noms do come out :D
October 28, 20168 yr It seems like there is a lot of competition this year?! The female lead is PACKED. Viola made a good move.
November 14, 20168 yr I've just read that Dev Patel is now campaigning supporting for 'Lion' Ugh, just because the supporting categories seem to have an easier ride. The movie is about his character, he's playing the main character  (albeit I don't know what the ratio of flashbacks/present day is)
January 23, 20178 yr I'm ill so will be watching the nominations live tomorrow! Hoping for a LLL sweep!
January 23, 20178 yr Author FINAL PREDICTIONS (and changes since last time illustrated) , eeek so excited :D BEST PICTURE Moonlight La La Land Manchester by the Sea Fences Lion ^^^^^^^ -------------- Arrival Hacksaw Ridge vvvvvvvvv Hidden Figures ------------- Hell or High Water Silence BEST ACTOR Denzel Washington – “Fences“ Viggo Mortensen – “Captain Fantastic“ Casey Affleck – “Manchester by the Sea“ Ryan Gosling – “La La Land“ Andrew Garfield – “Hacksaw Ridge“ BEST ACTRESS Amy Adams – “Arrival“ Emma Stone – “La La Land“ Natalie Portman – “Jackie“ Isabelle Huppert – “Elle“ Meryl Streep – “Florence Foster Jenkins“ BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR Mahershala Ali – “Moonlight“ Hugh Grant – “Florence Foster Jenkins“ Jeff Bridges – “Hell or High Water“ Dev Patel – “Lion“ Lucas Hedges – “Manchester by the Sea“ (IN; Lucas Hedges) (OUT; Aaron Taylor-Johnson) BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS Viola Davis – “Fences“ Octavia Spencer – “Hidden Figures“ Nicole Kidman – “Lion“ Michelle Williams – “Manchester by the Sea“ Naomie Harris – “Moonlight“ BEST DIRECTOR Damien Chazelle – “La La Land“ Kenneth Lonergan – “Manchester by the Sea“ Barry Jenkins – “Moonlight“ Denis Villeneuve – “Arrival“ Garth Davis – “Lion“ (IN; Garth Davis – “Lion“) (OUT; Mel Gibson – “Hacksaw Ridge“) For some reason, I feel less confident about Aaron Taylor-Johnson at the moment and feel like someone else might sneak it which will be a shame :( I feel a bit like Lion is picking up a bit of hype at the moment too. Also, I think best actress is tough to call. I still feel like Emily Blunt, Ruth Negga or Jessica Chastain could all make the cut. Edited January 23, 20178 yr by Josh.
