So a song that always divides opinion, but we're going to focus on one specific part of it for this thread... the RAP. Hitting hard at 2:44 as a frantic middle-8 it features some CHOICE lyrics and perfectly encapsulates the hazy life that the song alludes to.

But what do you think of it? Is it iconic or a bit moronic? Do you enjoy it and most importantly can you rap along to it? *.*

I love it, not even in an ironic kind of way. It's so batshit crazy but oh so MADGE.

This is how I feel about it. I want to go back to the first time I ever heard it and try to think of how I reacted, but yeah now I spend the entire time listening to the song anticipating the rap. *.*

I ADORE it. Perfect. She's rapping great lyrics that further validate the song and it's message.
I heard this song a couple of months ago in a Spanish gay club (!) and I could still lipsync to the rap almost the way through. It's like my favorite Madonna piece *.*

Exactly this! Nobody else could really get away with it but she nails it

And OF COURSE I can do the rap.

'Im not a Christian and im not a Jew'

All my non fans friends no that line !!!!

I get a little tongue-tied on the "this metaphysics shit is dope" line but the rest I can nail. And proud of it.

I just adore how obnoxious and narcissistic and ironic it is; the fact people actually thought she was being serious makes it all the more fantastic.

The whole song seems to have become more and more appreciated by fans as time has gone on. I know that reviews were terrible at the time and that a lot of people seemed to hate it, but I feel like now there's barely any haters, or at least they're just not vocal about it which is even an improvement itself given how I remember people would not hold back on expressing that a few years back.

I went for ionic. It's iconic in the same way as her fall at the Brits was.

As in you can't ever replay it again, can't see the funny side in it and wish it could be erased from your memory forever?

I didn't just make up the fact Madonna wanted Eminem to do the rap, did I?

Also, just imagine if Madonna did all the raps on her songs instead of getting featured artists in. "I'm froze up with my stove up, cuz he eatin' like it's his dinner".

Of course it's ICONIC. I can also recite it verbatim, as any true fan should be able to. I don't necessarily think it's GOOD in the strict sense that it ranks among the best things she's done a la Hung Up etc, but it's definitely a bold statement and very much works as part of the song and fits with the feel of the album. The only real shame about the whole affair is that disgusting flag video she released after the controversy.

Precisely. Car crash syndrome iconic. Something she's remembers for for all the wrong reasons! :P

To be fair I just don't like the song in general.

Oh God the official video is one of her worst, like an even worse situation than the two 'Make Me...' videos. I don't see why she couldn't have kept the original and just swapped the post-rap parts for something more tame?
