A longer commentary than usual this week as we have eight entries including of course one from Calvin Harris. Offaiah lands a third week at #1 with 'Trouble'. It is the ninth number one of the year but only the fifth to spend more than 2 weeks at #1. The last song to spend just 2 weeks at #1 though was MK's 'Piece of Me' back in March. Speaking of which, the song is still in the top 40 this week but drops down 8 places to #37. With 30 weeks under its belt it is easily the longest top 40 runner. Behind it in the long runners chart are TheFatRat's 'The Calling', which on its 25th week climbs back to #20 after dropping out of the top 20 for the first time last week, and Era Istrefi's 'Bonbon' which drops to #33 on its 24th week top 40 and 31st week top 100 (the longest-runner in the top 100). Calvin Harris debuted at #1 with his last song 'This Is What You Came For', which subsequently drops from 12 to 24 this week as interest is heading towards the new record. 'My Way' came close but couldn't quite overtake Offaiah. It debuts at #2. Of course though the song still has the opportunity to climb to #1 in the future, but if it doesn't it will be Calvin's sixth number two peaking single on this chart following 'Bounce', 'We Found Love', 'Sweet Nothing', 'Thinking About You' and 'How Deep Is Your Love' (the latter also debuted at #2 meaning all of Calvin's most recent 3 singles have entered in the top 2 (excluding 'Hype')). He has more #2s than #1s on this chart as it is anyway, his #1s being 'Call My Name' with Cheryl, his remix of Florence's 'Spectrum' and of course most recently 'TIWYCF'. The rest of the top 10 there is not much to note on. Zara Larsson climbs to #9 with 'Ain't My Fault' after two weeks at #10 and Armand Van Helden climbs one place to #10 with 'Wings' meaning two songs have left the top 10 this week namely those by Martin Garrix (9-11) and Marshmello (8-14). Following Avicii's BJSC success (he finished bang on mid-table at 21st) the song 'Dear Boy' climbs to #12. It previously peaked at #2 when its parent album 'True' was released. Our 18 points in the contest went to Daydreamer's 'Travelling Light' which now climbs into the top 20 at #17. Danny L Harle also finally gets another top 20 hit as 'Super Natural' after bobbing in the 24-30 section for weeks climbs up to #18. Møme climbs 13 places to reach a new peak, #21, with 'Aloha'. AlunaGeorge re-enter the top 40 at a new peak of #22 with 'Mean What I Mean'. After 8 weeks spent in the lower region of the top 100 Perttu shoots up to #23 with 'Waves'. Also jumping straight into the top 30 are Herplay at #28 with 'Into The Night' and Kanye's latest single 'Fade' at #29. Emeli Sandé has been away for quite a while now and her comeback was awaited with anticipation, and hope that she'd actually make a good song. She indeed did as 'Hurts' enters the chart at #34 becoming her eighth top 40 hit. I won't list them all but her most notable hits are 'Heaven' (#2 peak) and 'Next To Me' (#5 peak). Mason of 'Exceeder' fame gets his second top 40 hit following the UMEK & Mike Vale remix of 'Exceeder' (#25 peak), with 'Fashion Killa (papapapa)' which climbs four places to #38 this week. If the chart stretched back to 2007 the vocal mix 'Perfect (Exceeder)' would very likely have been a big top 5 hit. Right at the bottom of the top 40 Lucky Charmes climb 3 places to get 'Bobotie' to #40. They previously had a hit titled 'Skank (Skank Out)' featuring rapper Wiley which peaked at #38. Great stuff ^_^addictive really is the word for that song, although it's already starting to drop now (there'll be a new #1 tonight when I post my new chart) a lot of people not liking nu Calvin at the moment but I really love it. At least we can all agree the Emeli song is brilliant. it's so different for Kanye too, I probably love it so much cos it's dance influenced but it's done well. thanks jade!
