I'm really looking forward to this as I always do with anything by Marvel and there's something about the 'Guardian' films which sets them apart from other films in this genre.

(I'm also looking forward to Chris Pratt in that grey sweater.)

I'm posting this here, because the first Soundtrack is partly why the first film is loved so much!

Awesome Mix, Vol. 2:

01. Electric Light Orchestra - Mr. Blue Sky

02. Sweet - Fox On The Run

03. Aliotta Haynes & Jeremiah - Lake Shore Drive

04. Fleetwood Mac - The Chain

05. Sam Cooke - Bring It On Home To Me

06. Glen Campbell - Southern Nights

07. George Harrison - My Sweet Lord

08. Looking Glass - Brandy (You're A Fine Girl)

09. Jay & The Americans - Come A Little Bit Closer

10. Silver - Wham, Bam, Shang-A-Lang

11. Cheap Trick - Surrender

12. Cat Stevens - Father & Son

13. Parliament - Flashlight

14. Sneepers vs. David Hasselhoff - Guardians Inferno

David Hasselhoff coming for the number 1 *_*

Saw this last night at the premiere and it was really fun. I was a bit late and my seats weren't the best, so I didn't get, visually what I would have liked to, but I think I'll see it in 3D in the imax soon to get the film's full effect, as it was very colourful.

In terms of plot, it wasn't as focused as the last one, 'nor most of the MCU films. In fact, it was very messy - but its characters and and the witty dialogue saved it - lots of laugh out loud moments. I was hoping there would be more tie-ins leading up to Infinity War, but there wasn't. The 5 post-credit scenes were all a little disappointing. But yeah, fun! A good addition to the franchise.

Saw this today (quiet afternoon screenings are the best *.*), was kinda more of the same from the first film, but that's not a bad thing at all. I think this might be my favourite Marvel franchise to follow actually, the focus on humour/classic music aside, the characterisation is great here, they all feel genuinely fleshed out and likeable despite their flaws which makes it all the better and more gripping to follow. The whole Ego plot was a little bit confusing to follow, but I liked the scope of it and much preferred it to the Guardians vs Nebula & The Ravagers that I feared it was looking like.

Oh, and Baby Groot is sure enough the best thing ever  Need to bookmark him dancing to ELO.

This is already by far my favourite film of all time. I was literally smiling the whole way through. I can't wait until (at least) 2019 for Guardians 3 though.

Absolutely LOVED it (seeing it again tonight with my mate who is yet to see it, mainly coz the first time always overwhelms me a bit). It definitely didn't feel AS consistent as the first, but I never expected it to anyway tbh! The stories did intertwine a lot better and more naturally than I had feared though! SO MANY moments in this. Pretty much everything to do with Baby Groot (is he the greatest ever character?!) and Drax was funny as per (although I did get a bit annoyed with that laugh he does by the 3rd time he does it!)

The worst part though

seeing Baby Groot almost get crushed! My heart literally SANK, especially when you heard his cry!!!

I absolutely adored this! :D It is definitely more centred around the characters just having fun rather than having much of an actual plot but once it got going in that sense, I did think Ego was a pretty cool villain. A shame all these Marvel villains are just movie and you're done (unless you're Loki) :( I liked what they did with Yondu too, made me really feel for a character that I did not take to at all in the first movie. The humour was spot on as expected too, my favourite jokes were Baby Groot trying to find Yondu's fin thing, giant Pacman and also the Mary Poppins reference  The teenage Groot scene was probably my favourite post-credits scene too, wasn't expecting that  Baby Groot is easily the best character for me though aspthers have said, so cute!!! Loved the opening credits scenebecause of him too  Rocket and Gamora were cool too, I liked the former taking out everyone when he was looking after the ship even though he did end up being captured. Can't wait to watch it again!!

Many fabulous scenes, great cast and characters, love the soundtrack over the sci fi action and emotion, just like the first movie. Where it lost it a bit was in the plot structure in the lead up/middle of the movie where the Planet scene dragged and seemed a bit needlessly drawn out - not that it was long in absolute terms, it just grated and a more significant menace introduced earlier would have worked better.

8/10 though, and plenty to love. Film of the year so far (ahead of Hidden Figures).

I don't think I enjoyed it as much as the first movie and found some of the plot hard to follow, but this is definitely one of my favourite superhero franchises to watch, the characters are so likeable. Anything with Baby Groot, Rocket, Mantis or Drax was great.

But I think the best part was "I am Groot" dotted throughout the credits.

Is it definitely worth a watch?
100%

The general consensus seems to be that although it's not as consistent or coherent as the first movie, it's still an enjoyable, fun superhero flick!

I am having serious withdrawls lmao. I need to see it again! </3 I have come to the conclusion that Groot (particularly Baby Groot) is my all time favourite character in any movie! I LOVE HIM!

Really loved seeing this. Agree that Baby Groot was brilliant and so cute. but even without him the film was proper amazing.

The film has mainly made me excited for the Guardians to join the Avengers in Infinity War (LESS THAN A YEAR!!), Thor and Spiderman look great too.

Am I right in thinking the Avengers will be going up into space for Infinity War? Or is Thanos coming to earth? I highly doubt Nebula is going to manage it on her own  I'm getting Black Widow withdrawals.

A bit late to the party but I agree with what appears to be the general consensus - It's good, really good, but nowhere near as good as the first.

Why?

First of all the unexpectedness of the original is lost and that was a major factor I think.

There's much less of a focus in the storytelling and it comes across as trying to cram too much in. The film does not even a credible villain until the final third! SPeaking of which Kurt Russell is as reliable as ever but the character is a bit two dimensional and there was nothing you couldn't predict about his and Quill's plot.

Almost every character appears to have had a contrived emotional issue inserted, none of which are particularly new or given enough time to focus on. The most intriguing of which I found to be Nebula's. They could have made an entire movie about her motivation and backstory and it would have been more intriguing than what we did get. It might've been potentially too dark for this film however. The other option, that I thought might've been fun was to turn her and Gamorra into a Wyle E. Coyote vs Roadrunner device. It would've been fittingly silly.

Some of the set pieces were great - Rocket's defence, the opening and the Gamorra/Nebula fight stood out.

Overall a strong 7 or 8/10 (I haven't quite decided) compared to the originas's 10/10

The first film is something that you watch just once and its enough
