January 25, 20178 yr I hope it's Samantha or Jessica but I suspect it will be Cyrus. Maybe The Veronica's if we're lucky.
January 25, 20178 yr Yeah I think Cyrus for sure, they pushed him so hard and he hasn't really happened so I feel like they'll give him this last little push
January 25, 20178 yr I dunno. They released 'The River' to radio here. Feels like they could be willing to give Delta a push again here
February 21, 20178 yr Australia are starting up the hype machine again, so we should know the jig within the next two weeks. At this point I'm 75% sure they're going with Isaiah, partly because they'll want to switch it up with another man and also on a racial level to have someone of aboriginal (?) descent which I guess is all in SBS's remit. Also, his most recent single has actually got as high as number 15 in Sweden and 21 in Denmark so Sony probably want to try and push/launch him internationally. If they can go with some basic uptempo soulpop like 'Tonight Again' then that'll do because frankly we need one of those numbers at this stage in the season.
February 22, 20178 yr I'm not sure how I feel about him. I guess Sony will want to push him as his winners single didn't do very well. I really wish it was Samantha Jade though.
February 22, 20178 yr Isaiah is completely void of any charisma, performance ability or star quality. He's a very very good vocalist, but any number of potential Australian artists are! Pretty much his only uptempo X Factor performance was his weakest, he basically did a Cyrus and won off of one brilliant performance in week 1 and getting away with everything afterwards. It would make sense though to carry on Australia's diversity, either a group or an Aboriginal male. I'd rather they went for Jess Mauboy as far as Aboriginals go but hey.
February 22, 20178 yr Author I imagine it will be Isaiah and with his winner's single that has apparently had some success in Scandinavia and The Netherlands already, he's releasing a music video for it in the next week or two by the looks of it. I like the song, it's in the style of Frans but less "chilled house" or whatever you would call the electronic beats in If I Were Sorry. Seems like a solid low top 10-er if they do indeed go for it.
February 22, 20178 yr Omg they better not just use that :/ It won't be the worst in the final but it's one of those songs that I just can't give a shit about either way. It's like Frans without the divisive vocals, ofc I hated Frans but at least it had huge appeal to those who were the other side to me. This is just tedium.
February 25, 20178 yr One Frans was more than enough to want to exterminate them all. We don't need another
February 26, 20178 yr Tina Arena is a new rumour. I'd be fine with her over Isaiah for sure  I suppose she fits the variety bill too, if we're gonna roll with that, because she's an older woman.
March 2, 20178 yr Author Julia and Sam have stepped down as commentators! :o :snif: https://www.escxtra.com/2017/03/02/australi...rovision-hosts/
March 6, 20178 yr Author Isaiah is odds-on favourite to be the representative, I like him and his voice so he'd be a good choice even if the pure pop fan in me would love The Veronicas. I really hope they do go with It's Gotta Be You, I've really grown to love it and I definitely see it in the top 3 in Kyiv as things stand. Maybe this has been a long-term plan and SBS/Sony have strategically made this song already be a European Spotify success ahead of time? Australia and Sweden are best friends after all and they may fancy pulling a Frans on Spotify.
March 6, 20178 yr It won't be Samantha Jade as she's in London currently so won't be there for the announcement. So many bitter Betties on the Facebook pages about Australia today.
March 6, 20178 yr I'm hoping the late Tina Arena rumour can check out, she's not the most exciting but I'll just be so disappointed if it really is Isaiah, especially with It's Gotta Be You which I just cannot get into :/ It just feels like the Eurovision equivalent of being really cheap in BJSC by sending a European hit, just because it's done ok in Sweden and Denmark. It's just that in the case of Australia they can easily send a big local act with an amazing pop song, as they have for the past two years, so it's a disappointment to have a song like this that's already out anyway.
March 7, 20178 yr Didn't Tina Arena just recently announce a GH album? I wouldn't mind Isaiah - if he got another song. Edited March 7, 20178 yr by Mateja
March 7, 20178 yr I wouldn't mind Isiah - if he got another song. And this is exactly what's happening! RiXEMYUqa3w
March 7, 20178 yr Ooh yay, another ballad! He has a good voice but I can't really see this being much of a televoters pick...low top ten? And I will have to wait another year for Delta/The Veronicas/Sheppard etc! Edited March 7, 20178 yr by gooddelta

If Australia get invited in 2018, following the trend 2014: Jessica Mauboy (DID NOT PARTICIPATE) 2015: Guy Sebastian 2016: Dami Im 2017: Isaiah Firebrace 2018: ??? Possibly a femal artist?
