What I mean is that rather than being able to download/stream as a single version, HQ just tweeted 'get your copy from the album' with SLS and have basically done the same with Touch

Ah, okay, yeah I don't think most artists do that any more unless the new version is drastically different like Hair. The main reason is because the album version always starts climbing from early on and when a single version is released it can mean two versions are charting lower rather than one higher on iTunes.

Ah OK thanks, when you explain it like that it does kinda make sense

Touch combined has overtaken Rockabye on sales now, and would have been combined #2 on iTunes without Double-Ed. With the video coming this week, they'd have gotten a new peak, probably.
On the positive side, that shows that Top 3 next week is possible

They'd have to get a REALLY big video boost for that.

I suppose it was a good thing the video wasn't released this week afterall with both Ed's songs being released. Hopefully when it is released they get a big sales boost and helps them remain top 10 for a long time.
I think only Shape Of You will stick around in the top 5, so they still have a chance for a new peak. Also, Zara is moving on, filming a video for a new single, so I Would Like shouldn't be getting anymore promo.

Well, they're falling fast from outselling like 10x more than #3, I wouldn't get hopes up too much that they're absolutely flying down the charts.

He really isn't falling fast at all. He's lead is incredible. The best thing to do is focus on, is when the video gaining as much a possible and trying to get a lead on the non-Ed songs.

Oh I know his lead is incredible but I thought he would still be increasing now.

It will be huge on Streaming.

Now I'm curious to see what it will do on a global scale as SOTME was their first proper hit outside the UK.
I think Touch could still make the Top 5 this Friday. With Ed making up the Top 2, Rockabye and Human making up the rest of the top 5 leaves one space that seems like a fight between Touch, I Would Like (which is no longer discounted) and September Song (which is rising on iTunes but I think is lower in streaming, plus Touch has a second version on iTunes at 25-30 still).

I mean, it's all nice and all to have high chart peaks and whatever for stats sake, but honestly I don't really mind where this peaks now. It's transcended so much more than just the charts to the point where I've heard so many friends talking about how much they love the song which leads to "Little Mix are so good recently". The accessibility of this single has really helped to branch their popularity and audience out even further so now they're reaching the "cool for straight lads to like" stage that Bieber recently reached.

The single has done its job SO successfully, whether it's a #1, #2, #3, #4 or whatever.

Yup. Definitely agreed. Just woulda been nice to jave seen it get top 2 at some stage

I agree, espcially as it would have been relatively easy for them to go top 2 this time, and as a chart geek it does annoy me when the chart position doesn't match the status of the song. Outside of that it really doesn't matter, a song that's been top 5 for 3 weeks is going to look great to the record company and radios.
