Good to see Cool Me Down here, am also a big fan of it, one of the pop songs of the year.

House Work & Gone Missing my other picks from that last section.

Cool Me Down is a top notch pop anthem, should really have made it to Eurovision :( This One's For You is neither Zara nor Guetta's best like you said, but it's enjoyable enough for what it is I guess!

Hiya Dan

A few more tunes though, David Guetta (and Zara Larsson for that matter) are capable of far better than This One's For You but at least it was a jam for a couple of weeks at least. Guetta has had some absolute bangers in recent years so a shame 2016 hasn't really been as successful for him.

House Work was pretty good but Jax Jones' new single already sounds so much stronger, I got a bit bored of HW quite quickly. I think I Got U is probably going to remain his best for quite some time <3

Lovely stuff!

House Work is the song that stands out here for me, really catchy and instantly hit me. This One's For You is great as well! :music:
• quite catchy indeed, I would have liked it to be more melodic but it is great.

• one of the best pop songs that didn't chart this year, and better than quite a few that did.

• yeah would've been nice to see it performed on Euro.

• Guetta hasn't been quite as great this year really, it very much feels like he peaked years ago now

• Not familiar with the new Jax Jones single yet, House Work was good though. I also really enjoyed I Got U

Thermo's hot hits | EOY 2016 | #131-140

#140. DJ Snake (feat. George Maple) - Talk
601 points
28-32-35-70-54-30-46-55-46-63-61-99-93-x

This was an unexpected turn from DJ Snake, less chart-friendly than what we're used to but it really does work. Would like to hear more of this kinda thing from him instead of generic 'Lean On' rip-offs.

#139. Dua Lipa - Hotter Than Hell
601 points
80-92-72-58-48-40-33-54-53-43-51-51-59-79-x

Duo's breakthrough hit was a great tropical pop song, she makes some very fresh songs and she's got the voice for it too so I'm glad she's become a thing this year.

#138. Major Lazer (feat. Justin Bieber and MØ) - Cold Water
605 points
6-13-15-20-26-37-53-65-88-85-98-x

This got so much hype pre-release it was unsurprising that it was a huge UK #1, and straight into my top ten too. Showing that they're still top of their game, and both Bieber and MØ sound great on it.

#137. Tom Zanetti (feat. Sadie Ama) - You Want Me
614 points
89-35-25-14-19-21-25-33-34-...

Dat bassline, wow. Amazed at this becoming an actual UK chart hit too. It just makes me wanna bop my head when I listen to it. Iconic rapping too.

#136. Drake (feat. Rihanna) - Too Good
616 points
90-72-44-51-45-28-33-45-47-44-72-84-76-90-78-x

This took a while to get into but I do quite like the groove of this. I'd say 'Take Care' is better but this is a great follow-up to that.

#135. Bicep - Just
621 points
16-11-14-15-15-17-44-55-x

I do love a bleepy-bloopy instrumental track and this one is very well produced.

#134. Izzy Bizu - White Tiger (Marcus Layton Remix)
621 points
61-52-52-49-50-45-43-50-53-50-66-74-96-100-98-92-90-76-...

Bangin' tropical house remix of Izzy Bizu who was tipped for big things but that never happened.

#133. Filatov & Karas - Tell It To My Heart
628 points
48-14-16-18-20-19-23-22-...

Expect another entry from them a lot higher up, of which this was the follow-up to. A cover of the song Kelly Llorenna covered over ten years ago done in their own fresh style, though very similarly sounding to 'Don't Be So Shy' it works well.

#132. Dua Lipa - Blow Your Mind (Mwah)
628 points
83-29-30-47-47-52-63-98-67-54-36-37-42-...

Another Dua Lipa song appears! This one's even better than HTH but only slightly. Just a fun upbeat pop song really, what's not to love?

#131. Emeli Sandé - Hurts
629 points
34-14-14-18-21-29-34-50-66-x

Emeli Sandé unfortunately fell to Sophomore Syndrome with 'Hurts' missing the UK top 20 despite it being another great single from her. She really left it too long between albums though, and she's done herself no favours with the dull 'Breathing Underwater' as her 2nd single. Emeli will appear again later on with Offaiah's remix of the track.

#130. Shaun Frank and KSHMR (feat. Delaney Jane) - Heaven
629 points
...-2-3-3-7-12-33-70-70-90-91-x

This one kept on going into the first few weeks of the year after having a big 2015. Brilliant tune that almost became KSHMR's 2nd #1 hit but it wasn't meant to be, but he's at #1 now with his current single.

#129. Herplay (feat. Limmona) - Into the Night (Emanuele Asti Edit)
629 points
76-61-28-18-10-9-18-48-57-75-82-x

Another fun tropical house song, this one discovered from Spinning Adam's personal chart!

#128. Matt Simons - Catch & Release (Deepend Remix)
632 points
60-29-28-28-32-38-55-43-39-53-75-100-x

Great acoustic guitar driven song turned deep house massive European smash hit, sadly it never took off in the UK though.

#127. Martin Garrix - Poison
633 points
...-5-5-4-13-19-44-72-77-59-79-x

Another leftover from last year, this was a great progressive house instrumental, something that Garrix does best. Though we saw him do future bass later this year and that will be making a high appearance on the chart!

#126. Rihanna (feat. SZA) - Consideration
634 points
75-44-62-44-10-15-26-26-44-54-77-x

This was instantly the stand-out album track when "ANTI" was released, it's so full of swagger and energy.

#125. Jess Glynne - Take Me Home
634 points
...-37-16-16-18-13-16-39-65-93-84-95-90-97-x

Dame Jess Glynne OBE, Queen of Music, slayed us with a ballad proving she can do more than just the uptempos. We look forward to her return whenever that is (2017 plz).

#124. Felix Jaehn (feat. Polina) - Book Of Love
638 points
48-5-3-5-13-22-40-57-78-x

Decent enough tropical house song from Felix Jaehn, but it is quite forgotten now after the brilliance of what he released next - 'Bonfire'.

#123. KSHMR and Marnik - Bazaar
639 points
7-14-17-36-42-25-35-50-66-91-93-97-x

This one suffers a bit here for being very similar to 'Jammu' but it's a banger.

#122. Kanye West (feat. Post Malone and Ty Dolla $ign) - Fade
645 points
59-29-20-22-28-32-43-41-51-54-87-...

Love the house music influence on this one, that is one good bassline. The rappers' parts are decent enough as well I guess.

#121. Petite Meller (feat. Pnau) - Lil' Love
629 points
74-46-31-23-17-26-28-36-47-59-66-x

Another great upbeat house song here, a lot better than 'Baby Love', which seemed to get her a fair bit of hype which she quickly lost.

Some amazing songs in those last 2 sections. Cold Water & Too Good both brilliant & still not bored of either. You Want Me definitely agree I thought once it had that one week in the top 100 that would be it but it's took off in a big way.

Tell It To My Heart what a fab cover! Good to see Catch & Release quite high on your list too.

Bazaar also charted for me but didn't hang around for that long.

Tell it To My Heart was great, a great follow up to Don't Be So Shy!

Great to see You Want Me here, love that! :music:

I'd forgotten about 'Book of Love' :o Great when it first came out, one of Polna's best (but 'Little Babylon' is just that bit better)

Hi Dan

I knew you liked Jess Glynne but didn't realise you were such a fan of Take Me Home! It's probably her second best single for me now behind DBSHOY, her voice really suits it and it was so nice for her to have a bit of a change in direction.

Consideration has always been one of my highlights from ANTI, a bit gutted it was never made a single but I guess there is still a slim chance it could be. All of her singles this era really deserved so much more, she should have had four top 10 singles from ANTI imo, not just Work :'(

Enjoying this so far :D

#120. Tchami and Malaa - Prophecy
662 points
50-11-15-13-12-12-14-19-...

Tchami came back with a banging future house instrumental anthem, which was also the first I heard of Malaa. The drop blew my mind.

#119. Zonderling (feat. Bishøp) - Keep On
663 points
40-41-38-40-46-83-41-32-36-53-57-77-79-88-x

Zonderling followed up the success of 'Crazy For You' with another Bishøp-featuring song. Whilst it may not be as amazing, it's another uniquely Zonderling-style production which I love.

#118. Bishop Briggs - River
669 points
70-62-58-44-37-47-69-78-83-84-77-x-86-84-63-35-38-56-94-85-x

Coincidentally here is another Bishop, this time though with a rare non-EDM song which became a real sleeper hit in my chart. She really deserved to break through with 'River' but it wasn't to be. She'll make one more appearance in this EOY.

#117. Tez Cadey (feat. Julia Church) - Walls (Summer Mix)
670 points
70-81-59-53-40-36-24-14-15-31-87-73-71-90-x

Banging house tune updated for the Summer and vastly improved from the original version. It became Cadey's second hit in my chart following BJSC flop 'Seve' (really worth checking out).

#116. Jonas Blue (feat. JP Cooper) - Perfect Strangers
674 points
63-x(2)-84-45-36-18-20-19-29-44-56-55-69-x

Mr. Blue became one of the big dance producers to break out in 2016, scoring two massive #2 UK hits including 'Perfect Strangers' which was a nice change in direction for him, though it is 'Fast Car' that edges out ahead in this chart - still to come. His third single 'By Your Side' is still gaining and could be big for me next year..

#115. The Chainsmokers (feat. Charlee) - Inside Out
677 points
52-30-49-49-89-x(2)-92-71-66-84-68-78-81-52-58-69-68-59-84-87-74-84-x

Chainsmokers we meet again, this time with their promo single 'Inside Out' which is my second-favourite of theirs from the 'Collage' EP, but the only to not make any sort of chart impact. It really deserved better, it's quite a lovely song and it's got a great melodic drop.

#114. Felix Jaehn (feat. Lost Frequencies and Linying) - Eagle Eyes (Lucas & Steve Remix)
679 points
...-3-2-2-6-9-32-41-62-86-88-x

Unlucky for this to have impacted just as the year was ending, it appears just outside the top 100 two years in a row. Great tropical house tune if you hadn't already guessed by those names.

#113. Alesso (feat. Nico & Vinz) - I Wanna Know
682 points
24-42-62-74-x(7)-94-80-69-68-70-45-31-35-45-49-69-82-100-97-x

This was Alesso's turn to try out poppified deep house, which shouldn't really work but it does. Though it's a long way off from the greatness of last year's 'Cool', we want those bangers back please.

#112. DJ Snake (feat. Bipolar Sunshine) - Middle
682 points
39-12-36-80-x(10)-90-92-76-80-58-38-35-53-52-88-86-71-78-83-90-x

DJ Taylor Swift's 'Middle' finally took off in the UK about half a year after it was actually released, good thing it did though as it's a really well produced song, I'd say the best of his solo releases (that doesn't include 'Lean On'). Subtlety in trap always works, as good as 'Turn Down For What' was I'd prefer more of the 'Middle' and 'Talk' side to him.

#111. Mahama vs. Wolf Tide - Spoke The Words
688 points
68-66-54-74-62-61-72-70-60-53-47-34-56-59-63-61-69-...

A huge sleeper hit in the chart now, there's been a few of those this year. It was the debut release for tropical house producer Mahama, which got my attention as it was a remix of former BJSC entry 'Spoke The Words' - and it really does improve it.

Good to see Too Good and Cold Water being big chart hits, both are very good.

I didn't expect You Want Me to get into the official top 40, glad it has though.

TITMH is brilliant, I'm looking forward to what they bring next year.

Tell it To My Heart was great, a great follow up to Don't Be So Shy!

Great to see You Want Me here, love that! :music:

I'd forgotten about 'Book of Love' :o Great when it first came out, one of Polna's best (but 'Little Babylon' is just that bit better)

It's very good, I do love their style though they probably should change it up a little for their next single.

You Want Me is a proper bangin' choon :music:

'Book of Love' seems to have that effect. Solid effort from Felix but not up with his best.

Hi Dan

I knew you liked Jess Glynne but didn't realise you were such a fan of Take Me Home! It's probably her second best single for me now behind DBSHOY, her voice really suits it and it was so nice for her to have a bit of a change in direction.

Enjoying this so far :D

Take Me Home is great, it peaked at #5 for me last year but kept on going into 2016. I'd say Hold My Hand is her best solo single still.

I don't think Consideration would've really worked as a single, shame because it is great. Expect 'Work' to be high in the EOY too

thanks toe everyone who's commented so far :cheer:

Perfect Strangers is really good i think that could be his second best for me after By your Side tbh

I Wanna Know and Middle both good too!

Great Section :D

Hi Dan

I think Perfect Strangers is definitely my favourite Jonas Blue track yet although By Your Side is not far behind at all. After despising the Fast Car cover, I've turned into a bit of a fan from his past two singles. Hope we don't get any more rubbish covers and more original choons :music:

Hey Dan! :D

Dua Lipa x2, Cold Water and Hurts are my favourites from the last few sections, and Take Me Home is Jess Glynne's best song for me also!

Perfect Strangers is solid but I definitely prefer Fast Car (and By Your Side for that matter). He's definitely one of the breakout stars of the year though, and with good reason! JP Cooper's another one to watch I think.

Great stuff!

Thermo's hot hits | EOY 2016 | #101-110

#110. Rochelle - All Night Long
695 points
20-4-11-17-31-46-48-37-50-57-95-x

Rochelle gave us another jam this year, this time without the help of trap group Yellow Claw, though this is reasonably trappy despite that. It's 100% Tim too so no surprise that he introduced it to us in BJSC this year.

#109. Beyoncé - Formation
698 points
17-9-13-17-23-34-59-79-x(3)-59-51-52-x

Continuing with the female swag, Beyoncé came back this year with the overhyped (as she often is) 'Lemonade' album. This was the one song from it I could get behind though, the sassy black female empowerment anthem 'Formation' with a great trap beat.

#108. Sia (feat. Sean Paul) - Cheap Thrills
699 points
85-78-30-28-26-23-23-36-41-46-49-70-79-x

Sia really got everyone's attention with Shon de Pawl collab 'Cheap Thrills' by being a terrific pop song that probably wouldn't have worked quite as well had it been sang by Rihanna as it was intended. It's a fun carefree song which if you haven't heard at least 20 times this year you've probably been living under a rock.

#107. Hailee Steinfeld and Grey (feat. Zedd) - Starving
703 points
64-94-62-82-68-57-56-48-36-38-22-27-27-30-...

Have to say I wasn't expecting much from a Zedd produced female pop song, as he's been a disappointment too many times. This is quite the jam though and brings Zedd right into 2016. Although Grey probably did most of the production. Hailee doesn't compare to Zara Larsson in terms of 2016 young female breakthroughs but I guess her voice works for this song (and 'Love Myself' was fairly good too).

#106. Years & Years (feat. Tove Lo) - Desire
711 points
12-3-5-8-9-15-34-52-64-97-x

Wasn't that keen on Y&Y re-releasing 'Desire' when I wasn't hugely keen on it first-time round (although it did make my top 20) but bringing Tove Lo really gave it an edge it didn't previously have. Certainly an improvement to the song, and Tove herself has had a great year for me. Let's just hope we don't get another 'Meteorite' of a disappointment for whatever they release next.

#105. Willy Williams - Ego
756 points
34-11-10-18-30-31-36-34-28-38-85-x

A rare French language bop making my chart, this is an undeniable tune though and could've been a huge UK hit if only it were in English. Probably not though, it didn't help Era Istrefi. The 'allez allez allez' hook has to be one of the catchiest of the year in terms of pop hits.

#104. Lukas Graham - 7 Years
762 points
27-30-27-33-35-38-28-35-40-39-50-68-x

Once I was 7 years old, it's a song everyone can relate to except those yet to have their 7th birthday. It's a great song too and was nice to see something different make the top of the UK charts. 'Mama Said' deserved all the floppage it got though, if that got properly big it could've been a contender for my hate chart.

#103. Kent Jones - Don't Mind
763 points
97-47-26-16-7-8-11-16-40-54-65-89-88-87-x

I do love a catchy crossover US rap hit, and there were a few of those this year. 'Don't Mind' is very fun and has a nice feel to it.

#102. Alessia Cara - Wild Things (MK Remix)
766 points
91-93-69-28-22-20-16-16-19-36-28-43-77-93-98-x

Alessia Cara got a great makeover by house music legend MK, who vastly improved what was a substandard pop song into a floorfiller anthem. Not to mention lyrics about 808s actually work better when paired with a house beat.

#101. The Weeknd (feat. Daft Punk) - Starboy
767 points
67-18-10-10-8-7-8-9-5-...

Unfortunately for The Weeknd he loses out on a top 100 position from a tiebreak. 'Starboy' was an amazing comeback single, with a very unexpected and unique production from Daft Punk and great songwriting from The Weeknd, who's very keen to let you know he's f***in' famous. It may well be his best song to date.

Perfect Strangers is really good i think that could be his second best for me after By your Side tbh

I Wanna Know and Middle both good too!

Great Section :D

Perfect Strangers is great, though it did get old after a few months so I'm glad he has a new song out now.

I Wanna Know :music: :music: :music: Love that song, Nico & Vinz' voices work really well on it!

Middle & Perfect Strangers great as well :D

Yep, not a huge fan of N&V but they sound great on that song (and Am I Wrong).

Hi Dan

I think Perfect Strangers is definitely my favourite Jonas Blue track yet although By Your Side is not far behind at all. After despising the Fast Car cover, I've turned into a bit of a fan from his past two singles. Hope we don't get any more rubbish covers and more original choons :music:

Fast Car was a good cover, although somewhat diminished by the Tobtok cover that I preferred. Both versions make my EOY 100 though :cheer: All his singles so far have been great, though none of them truly amazing.

Hey Dan!

'also'? I never said Take Me Home was her best :P though it is very good.

I slightly prefer Fast Car too but both are great. It was good to see him branch out of cover versions by the 2nd single anyway, didn't want him to become another DJ Sammy.

September Song could very well be a hit single next year.
