Based on the Boston marathon bombings

Had to laugh when "From the director of Deepwater Horizon" came up as the start of the trailer is VERY similar ... Mark Wahlberg, real life event, talking with his wife before going off to work

I went to see this today! The second film I've seen in the cinema this year after 'Lion' so 100% based on true story films so far :kink: Anyway, these kind of films always seem to leave more of an impact on me just knowing it actually happened. It was such a TENSE film so I felt very gripped for the majority of it. I was glued to the screen from the bombs going off at the marathon onwards. The

hostage of Dun Meng

(he turned out to be my favourite character!) and

the action scenes between the police and Tamerlan and Jahar where the former was killed

were the best moments for me. A general observation was also that I appreciated some of the filming being handheld. There was clearly a lot of research put into this (it was a nice touch to have

victims speaking out at the end)

and it just felt extremely exciting throughout. Would recommend~

Brilliant film this, a very strong homage to the awful events of that fateful day. So many tense moments, the scene where they hijacked that innocent guy's car the most of all. Had my reservations about seeing this initially but glad I did.

Saw this a few weeks ago and it was SO much better than Deepwater Horizon, there's a lot more emotional pull involved in this story. I didn't see all the events coming because although I obviously knew about the Boston bombings, I didn't recall the car hijacking, Jahar being found in a boat etc. so it kept me glued. Some of the injury detail was tough to watch but it was a very well done tribute.
