December 9, 20168 yr Taylor and Zayn are the favourites - 11/4. Bookies are so clueless when it comes to the charts haha. I doubt it'll even be in the top 10 in Christmas week

December 10, 20168 yr http://www.radiox.co.uk/news/inspiral-carp...stmas-no1-gill/ This will probably explain who Inspiral Carpets are, Dan.
December 10, 20168 yr Older than I thought - seen him in a Xmas chart rundown a few years back and thought he looked young. Ah well that grainy vid would be from 1975.
December 10, 20168 yr I mean one of those countdowns when he spoke about the track nowadays (although it was a few years ago I saw it)!
December 11, 20168 yr Author Ladbrokes 3/1 Friends of Jo Cox 4/1 Matt Terry 6/1 Louis Tomlinson/Steve Aoki 6/1 Saara Aalto 7/1 Zayn Malik/Taylor Swift 8/1 London Hospices Choir --------- 12/1 Little Mix 14/1 Kylie Minogue 20/1 Clean Bandit 20/1 Greg Lake 20/1 Inspiral Carpets 25/1 Mariah Carey 25/1 Calvin Harris 25/1 Cliff Richard
December 11, 20168 yr Quite remarkable at just how open it is this year - I think we can rule out ZAYN and Taylor unless it gets put on Spotify, though. So it seems a very very close race between Louis, Little Mix (who are being totally underestimated in my eyes), the X-Factor winner, Hospices & Friends Of Jo Cox, and I can't call it at all at this moment in time.

December 11, 20168 yr Bookies are so clueless when it comes to the charts haha. I doubt it'll even be in the top 10 in Christmas week Don't forget that bookies are trying to make money, so their odds aren't always a pure reflection of how likely something is. And yes, I do feel old when people don't know who the Inspiral Carpets were. Believe it or not, I remember that song being played on Capital.
December 11, 20168 yr I think Mariah could do it this year, her streams should be huge that week and she has the Christmas Carpool Karaoke coming up, which should help with downloads.
December 11, 20168 yr Funny how this years race is one of the best in years - seems streaming inadvertently has revived the Christmas chart race!
December 12, 20168 yr Funny how this years race is one of the best in years - seems streaming inadvertently has revived the Christmas chart race!I also hope it's stopped the one week wonders from getting to the top. The Christmas number 1 used to be about records that were popular getting to the top of the charts. Heck, some even used to sell a million. When was the last time that happened? With the greatest of respect to Jo Cox I hope that record doesn't reach number 1 nor any NHS song nor any dying child number 1. Let's have a proper number 1 at Christmas we all enjoy. Sorry for replying to your post with this negative response Steve as it's not you - or anyone else at BuzzJack - I'm directing this at. I've hijacked your post. But let's cut the bullshit and stop these one week wonders from ruining forever the Christmas number 1. Thankfully the X Factor song won't do either as they are responsible for starting all this "let's aim a song at the top for Christmas number 1" rubbish. At least if Mariah gets to the top (which she won't, though she'll be top 10) at least she will have made her way to the top. Bah, humbug!

I find your post to be the opposite of 'bah humbug' - completely agree! Was Mr Blobby a charity single?!
December 12, 20168 yr I don't think Mr Blobby was a charity single, no. Was James Arthur the last Christmas Number One to sell a million?
