Stitches WAS one of the most exciting climbers of last year! But actually the most exciting, as you know, was The Neales' very rapid climb to #22 with I'll Be There. I assume its surprise appearance here is still to come? :o

Don't think I haven't noticed you putting Stitches at #2 when I'm pretty sure it was #3 on my EOY last year. I think I know what my 2016 #1 is gonna be now devil_80_anim_gif.gif

(Honestly haven't listened to If I Were Sorry since Eurovision so I'll just take your word that it's really that good :heehee:)

Fabulous countdown and congrats on finishing :cheer: You know what to do next *poke* *multi EOY*

Hiya http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/uploads/group_images/of_18_icon.gif! Firstly, congrats on your very successful thread. *_*

Your EOY #1 is my EOY #292

SHAWN MENDES Sian Monden *.* Possibly my favourite new artist of the year (well, I knew him a bit towards the end of 2015 but he smashed in 2016 of course  ). I think I marginally prefer Treat You Better to Stitches these days. :o I have a lot of love for the Seeb remix of Stitches too.

Joel Adams is pleasant and has nice blue eyes

You seem to have missed out your EOY 4th?? devil_80_anim_gif.gif

Fifth Harmony my huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge [/matt] favourite of your Top 5, so pleased to see it this high! A bop I'm still not tired of. Really hope the girls continue to bring the tunes & the success as a four piece.

Just noticed 'Make Me...' is at #11; it missing the Top 10 does not make me moo ooh :snif: :heehee:!

~

Fabulous to see 'Glory' as your second fave album of the year! I still remember our first play of it, what a moment! Lots of amazing albums in your Top 10 which would definitely feature high in my EOY Albums should I do a list - Ariana, All Saints, Fifth Harmony, Shawn Mendes, Little Mix & Delta.

(Just pressed 'Preview Post' and oh dear at the number of smileys I've used :') )

Overall, a wonderful EOY, sorry I've not replied as much as I should have but I have kept an eye on it throughout! <3 Here's to 2017. ;o :cheer:

Hiya Jay *.* You know me, I'm not a stranger to a hiT thread #dot

#292 :o outrageously low

Oooh I see ;o Stitches will probably always be his best in my books but Treat You Better does run it close so I've got a lot of love for that too.

No shade to Ryan http://static.skaip.org/img/emoticons/180x180/f6fcff/wait.gif!!

Make Me was top 10 until just days before I revealed its position, I felt Treat You Better was more deserving

Thanks very much for all the comments Jay, much appreciated!!

what an awful top 5, this is why you got my top vote in that award ^_^ x

Nah I kid, 'Grats on this thread, been good to read through and the effort and passion is really quite something! And Cold Water and Rockabye were two mega hits I could definitely get behind and We Don't Talk Anymore was wayyy better than anything else Charlie Puth did. Magnetised was good too, and I'm not normally a fan of Tom Odell's, a shame that didn't do much.

This shade!! :o

Thanks very much Chez, glad you found a few tracks to enjoy in my top 20 despite us having polar opposite tastes for the most part!

Frans shade :hand:

Thanks Cameron, means a lot

The Neales !!! That can be my honourary #0 tbh x

What are you accusing me of?? http://static.skaip.org/img/emoticons/180x180/f6fcff/wait.gif I've been telling you all year that I'm still loving Stitches! :basil:

Thanks Jordan!! *goes to open the multi EOY spreadsheet*

I suppose it's a good #1 in the end, even after being my Melfest hate figure, he turned out fine. Very well done on the thread, an 18-page marvel of commentary for tons of songs that you clearly love a lot.

Frans *.*

Fantastic song, and a great EOY No.1, surprised Young Like Us stalled at No.33 for you, but then it wasn't up to much really :(

Thanks Rich! :D Young Like Us was #1 in my weekly chart and I do like it a lot, but it's definitely not as good as If I Were Sorry. Still, I'm intrigued to see what else he might release!

Phenomenal effort as per, Joseph! I regret not following properly throughout this time, though if anything it means I'm even more awestruck by your work than other years in being HIT FULL FORCE by that gloriously formatted recap post on page 17(!).

Can get behind 'If I Were Sorry' as the champ here as I found it a real standout on Eurovision night with it being nicely inventive and catchy. I'm also a shameless 'Stitches' stan, and 'Please Don't Go' really crept up on me post-BJSC - definitely among the big growers of the year. :music:

Loads of other good stuff but I think the presence of All Saints jumps out at me most from your countdowns. Their comeback album was a complete revelation for me (as I was barely even aware they'd reformed, let alone had any expectations) and I know that I'll continue revisiting it for years to come. It all feels very sincere and well-crafted and polished, and sort of justifies them being away so long, and ACTUALLY (x4 :kink:) I'd somehow forgotten/never properly realised that 'Who Hurt Who' is about their relationship(s) as a band until reading your commentary :o, oops. Pretty touching! *listens again with new ears*

Not a shock of a number one to be honest :o

Shawn Menedes's Stitiches is excellent though I prefer it to the Frans song!

Work From Home in the top 5  That was released on my birthday last year and I remember thinking it was a great gift :lol; Easily one of the best songs of the year.

Your #1 was decent but it didn't stand out among the other Eurovision tracks for me.

Brilliant countdown overall too :D

well at least Shawn Mendes isn't #1 :heehee:

I enjoyed the Frans track a fair bit, was one of my faves of the Eurovision season last year so can't complain with that.

Oops sorry Dan, I missed this post when replying before! Thanks for the reply, glad you like the Frans track, I remember it taking me by surprise when you were among the few people who like it on Buzzjack

Thanks very much Noah  I always like to make sure my EOY is presented nicely *.*

Glad to hear you're a fan of the top three! Please Don't Go not Q'ing in BJSC was a huge shame I think but I can at least claim I have a silver certified hit in the UK out of it :kink:

The All Saints comeback has been showered in praise on here and I'm one of the biggest champions of it. It was a total revelation for me too, like I said before I've been a fan of theirs for a long time now but I never expected to enjoy the comeback this much! I agree that it feels sincere, you can tell they're doing it not just because they love music, but they love spending time with each other now, and it shines through in the music. Who Hurt Who is very touching lyrically, I noticed the connections quite quickly because I'd not long since had a read of their Wiki page when I first heard it

Not a shock of a number one to be honest :o

Thanks Lewis  that really is a fantastic birthday present tbh *.* it was a couple of weeks before my own birthday actually!

Well at least Frans was the #1 of the 2 :P I think I said at the time of the contest it was a quite nice sounding song but I wasn't all that keen on his vocals, listening back it is sounding better however.

The Ryan Lawrie track was pretty good actually which in turn surprised me because I wasn't a fan during his XF stint.

Work From Home was quite the tune indeed, gotta love that D-Bed sampling  I don't return to it much now I think I just heard it way too much when it was big.

Great stuff seeing Cheat Codes so high! Definitely a model example of how to take a song & do something interesting with it.

Oops, sorry for the late reply to this Dobbo! Thanks for commenting :D

I don't think Ryan really got to perform the type of music he'd release during The X Factor which was a shame, but hopefully it's given him a nice springboard to go on to big things in the future! :D

I think we're the only two people on the site who seem to love Let Me Hold You  I agree, they've put their own spin on a hugely well-known track and it works so well. I much prefer it to the original in fact!

I haven't heard much of your top 10 :') But I doubt it would be for me.

Adore 'Side To Side', 'Work From Home' and even 'All Night'
