Shame to see Sorry, Stay, 7 Years, Final Song, Cheap Thrills, I Would Like and Sexual all miss out among others! Also, Never Forget You is probably my second favourite Zara song behind Lush Life these days actually, and it's her only #1 in my chart, shame to see you not liking that one so much :(

Excited for what's still to come :D

Hi Lewis

Just been getting into Redbone this past week or so and have been really enjoying it, definitely a track I that I can see myself getting into more in the future. 3005 is still his best track yet though for me, that is a massive tune!

Hype was pretty terrible though so I'm glad it missed your list, Dizzee hasn't been good in years so no surprise there but Calvin has been on such top form for so long now so this was just shockingly bad for him, it just sounds like pure noise with terrible vocals on top, far from the greatness of stuff like HWDIYL and TIWYCF

:D

3005 is my favourite of his too. Although Sober & Sweatpants are all brill too.

Yeah Dizzee has been pretty poor for a while. Hype should have been so much better.

Great pick of songs. Greedy is my 2nd/3rd favourite album track.

Sorry in particular was unlucky to miss out because I still enjoy that the same when I listen to it. I could just never get into Never Forget You.

Numbers, Sunshine, F**ckin' Problems and Redbone so good

All tunes :D

The Top 100.

I'm going to try and get this complete quickly but I have 3 uni assignments in for January so we'll see what happens.

Comment: This obviously made #1 in my chart back when there was hope. It's such a shame that this song is so much better than the actual national team. Expect this to chart in 2 years time when everyone ignores the last tournament for 2 weeks to support Southgate & the lads in Russia.

99. Chase & Status ft Slaves - Control

My Peak: 03

Chart Run: 4-3-11-15 (4 weeks)

Slaves' Chart History:

2015 01 The Hunter

2016 03 Control (Chase & Status ft Slaves)

Comment: I forgot how much of a tune this is. It's very loud and in-your-face which is probably why it dropped out so quickly. Best song Chase & Status have released this year.

Comment: There was a time when I thought this was going to reach #1 in my chart but it started to get overplayed and ruined it for me. Love the video for this though.

Crownnote EOY Chart Finish: 102

Lyric: You're loving on the murderer sitting next to you.

Twenty One Pilots' Chart History:

2016 10 Heathens

Comment: The Suicide Squad soundtrack has been the best of the year, with another 2 tracks from it to go. This sounded like a huge smash from the first listen and it didn't disappoint reaching the top 5 in the UK and 2 in the US.

96. Poli Genova - If Love Was A Crime

My Peak: 02

Chart Run: 2-20 (2 weeks)

Crownnote EOY Chart Finish: 130

Lyric: You and me against the world.

Poli Genova' Chart History:

2016 02 If Love Was A Crime

Comment: Last year's top 100 featured 4 Eurovision tracks, this year there is only 3. This was the highest peaking from this year's competition but has been overtaken by two more in the final countdown. This fell hard on the Dangerous Woman release week and was not able to recover. Just listened to it again though and it's still brilliant.

95. Raleigh Ritchie ft Stormzy - Keep It Simple

2016 05 Keep It Simple (ft Stormzy)

2015 01 WickedSkengMan 4

2015 01 Shut Up

2016 05 Keep It Simple (Raleigh Ritchie ft Stormzy)

2016 06 Scary

Comment: This is one of the most underrated songs of the year. Not even 250,000 views of YouTube is criminal. I did forget about this song a bit over the year hence it finishing way lower than it's points position would suggest. If you haven't heard this, I would certainly recommend listening to it. Such a nice laid back tune. Both artists have one more song to come.

2016 06 Boys & Girls (Will.I.Am ft Pia Mia)

2016 10 F**k With You (ft G-Eazy)

Comment: This is a guilty pleasure. Will's lyrics sound like they've been written by a 12 year old and Pia's chorus sounds like it's meant for a different song. But somehow it makes a catchy and enjoyable song.

93. Ariana Grande - Bad Decisions

My Peak: 02

Chart Run: 2-8-15-(x10)-19 (4 weeks)

2016 12 Touch It

2016 13 Thinking Bout You

2016 14 Moonlight

2016 15 Knew Better / Forever Boy

Comment: The first of only 7 from Ariana in this year's top 100. This is my favourite track that doesn't have a video or was released before the album. Mainly due to that perfect delivery of the lyric I posted earlier. The chorus is brilliant too. That chart history took a while to compile.

92. David Bowie - Starman

My Peak: 02

Chart Run: 2-5-14 (3 weeks)

Official Peak: 10 (in 1972)

2016 02 Starman

2016 04 Heroes

2016 14 Let's Dance

2016 15 Rebel Rebel

Comment: One of two Bowie songs to feature. This is one of his most iconic songs of a career of many. Out of the many legends we lost during 2016, Bowie was one of the most upsetting. What a great man he was.

Boys & Girls is definitely a guilty pleasure, it feels so dated and I'm sure could have easily been a smash back in 2011 or something but yeah it is just so catchy. I hope will moves with the times a bit though because I'd love him to get some more hits, they're always such tunes

Bad Decisions has always been one of my big highlights from Dangerous Woman so glad to see someone else appreciating it! In fact, I'd have probably picked it as the next single instead of Everyday, although I do like that too and am glad it has been released. She has so many choices for singles anyway, Be Alright, Moonlight, Leave Me Lonely, love them all

Comment: At the time, I wanted R'N'B to win X Factor over Louisa but I didn't really expect them to make great music. However they released this summer jam which should have at least reached the top 20 in the official chart. But hey it done better than Honey G and that's the main thing. They lose out to Louisa again as she still has a song to come.

90. Louisa Johnson - So Good

89. Christine & The Queens - Tilted

Comment: All three songs in this section being 1-hit wonders. :o This seems to be one of the most universally loved songs of the year and it's easy to see why. Very cool dancing and some great live performances really bring this song to life. My Dad became obsessed with this song after one performance and had a spell where he went on about it loads.

Yeah, Boys & Girls does sound like something that would have been huge a few years ago. I'm sure Will.I.Am will be back soon, he always seems to come back with a big hit.

There are so many potential single on Dangerous Woman, she could really release anything next. :D

Hello again!

Another good little trio there, I think Titled is my favourite of the three, Christine just seems so cool and most of TV performances have blown me away with all the choreography. I'm glad the album was big for her but I wish Saint Claude had turned into a hit too.

Louisa has really great vocals so I'm glad both Tears and SG have showcased thosee, she sounds fantastic. It definitely deserved a top 10 peak imo but at least it is having some good longevity at the moment :D

Yeah, her live performances of Tilted are probably the best I've seen on TV this year. Steals the show every time she's on. I only heard Saint Claude once though so I can't comment on that one.

So Good definitely should have went top 10 but long longevity is probably just as good in this era of the charts.

Hey Lewis! :D

New Girl is lots of fun, I wish it ended up being more of a hit than it was, they come across as really likeable too.

I like In the Name of Love although both Martin and Bebe have been on better songs, Animals and Hey Mama are my faves respectively!

Heathens is by faaaar the best 21P song I've heard!

Comment: This is a rare thing from 2016. A Drake song on Youtube, posted on one of Drake's channels no less :o I had heart the solo Dave version a few times but couldn't get into it. The Drake remix is so much better and looked at one stage like it might have became a hit in the UK.

87. Katy Perry - Rise

My Peak: 05

Chart Run: 6-7-5-13 (4 weeks)

Official Peak: #25

2014 02 Unconditionally

2014 01 Dark Horse (ft Juicy J)

2014 04 This Is How We Do

2016 05 Rise

Comment: This song works perfectly in an advert for the Olympics coverage but away from that it just doesn't sound like 'a hit' in 2016. Katy has been one of my favourite pop stars since she came on the scene with I Kissed A Girl so I hope when she returns properly it is with a song much better than this. The song is very atmospheric and I enjoy it when it's on but it is very forgetable.

Comment: There was some controversy around Australia being invited back for a 2nd year to Eurovision but if they send songs this good then I think they are more than welcome. Her performance of this on the night was absolutely stunning and deserved to win the competition (damn the new voting system). Just one more Eurovision song to come.

2016 16 Hand Over Hand (Watsky ft Anderson .Paak)

2016 03 Dance Off (Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ft Idris Elba & Anderson .Paak)

Comment: This had some much potential to smash in the UK. I thought when Radio 1 made it Track of the Day that it was going to happen but it never happened. Idris Elba busts out one of the choruses of the year and Anderon .Paak's small bridge is the highlight of the song.

2016 06 F**kin' Problems (A$AP Rocky ft Drake, 2 Chainz & Kendrick Lamar)

2016 05 The Greatest (Sia ft Kendrick Lamar)

Comment: This is the only Sia song that hasn't became unlistenable after repeated listens. This is still great to listen to, as long as it's the Kendrick version. The weird instrumental bit sounds weird in the Sia only version.

Comment: This is the best indie song of the year. Such a feel good and summery anthem, I love the way the lead singers local accent comes through. It's a shame it only came to everyone's attention in the way it did. RIP to the members and their manager.

Edited by RobinJuanPersie

Good to see Viola Beach make an appearance, was such a shame about their passing :( At least their music will forever be remembered now, even if it did take massively sad circumstances to trigger it.

Also good to see The Greatest and Wanna Know here - the latter especially

Rick Ross' Chart History:

2015 10 Monster (Kanye West ft Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross & Bon Iver)

2016 05 Purple Lamborghini (Skrillex & Rick Ross)

Comment: This is one of my most unusual songs of the year, I never expected Rick Ross over some generic dance beats would sound so good. The lyrics are cheesy, especially in the first verse where Ross tries to name everything single thing he knows related to DC. I'm sure Jared Leto spends longer in this video than he does in the whole of Suicide Squad too.

81. M.O - Who Do You Think Of

2016 03 Who Do You Think Of

Comment: This is the only song by them I've liked and I must be right as it's their only hit. They do kinda feel like a 2nd rate girlband but more tunes like this would help them change that. This song is very catchy and sounded great during my holiday last year.

80. David Bowie - Heroes

My Peak: 04

Chart Run: 4-4-15 (3 weeks)

Official Peak: #12

2016 04 Heroes

2016 14 Let's Dance

2016 15 Rebel Rebel

Comment: This has seemed to become Bowie's signature song this year and that's fully deserved. You can really feel the emotion when he's singing this song, the strains in his voice make it such a great listen. I'm happy that this managed a new peak this year but it so deserved to reach the top 10. This is by any definition, a classic.

Yeah, it was very fitting that they reached #1 in the albums so many people got to hear the music they made. It's so tragic that they never got to see it though.

The Greatest & Wanna Know are both tunes
