149. Cobi - Don't You Cry For Me

LOVE MONTH - SEPTEMBER

- What a brilliant track! This was a BJSC entry for Mulgracia in arguably the best contest of the entire year. Such a great kind of indie rock style tune with such stunning vocals. JSG always seems to deliver in contests and this was rightfully a hit for him. Has had such longevity in my personal playlists too, still spinning it now

148. Giggs ft Donae'o - Lock Doh

LOVE MONTH - NOVEMBER

- This was a different type of hit! It did really well on Spotify, hitting the top 50 for around a week, unfortunately it just missed out on an Official top 40 placing which was a massive shame. This is probably one of the biggest grime hits of the year, and definitely my favourite Giggs track, if you're into Skepta and Stormzy, you'll love this :D

147. The 1975 - The Sound

LOVE MONTH - FEBRUARY

- This did unexpectedly well in the Official Charts if I remember correctly, and it was a great beginning of the 2016 era for The 1975. The Sound is a feel good, sing-along indie track that you'd expect from The 1975, and Matt Healys vocals are poignant as ever. This is their only song in my countdown, but their whole recent era has been pretty flawless.

146. Era Istrefi - Bonbon

LOVE MONTH - APRIL

- A former BJSC entry from Yehesi, a country that have been very hit and miss this year (there's another one of their songs coming up later on in the countdown from a girl band), but this one was fantastic. A sassy, poppy anthem that made massive waves in Europe but never failed to conquer the hard-to-crack UK market, this was one of my favourite pop songs of the first half of the year.

Hey MDH~ catching up!

10. Sia - This Is Acting

8. Justin Bieber - Purpose

7. The Weeknd - STARBOY

Not heard many of your top 10 but these are all fantastic <3

Hi mdh!

Only heard The Sound from the recent batch and I did really like it. It's probably now my favourite track from them and I loved how it did actually hang around in the charts for a while. One of the few indie artists who seem to be able to get hits nowadays :(

Hey there Josh, hope you're having a great Christmas period! :D

Yeah it was a nice surprise, initially I expected it to miss out on the top fourty, but as ever their fanbase never ceases to amaze me! Really hope they can get a top 10 in the next era, provided they have streaming on their side (looks like they will have!).

Love The Sound, my fave 1975 track to date

It's a brilliant track, I do probably prefer Chocolate to The Sound but it's definitely within my top 3! They've got so many good tracks, it'd be hard to give a definitive ranking of them :D

Hey there Haus!

Yeah they're all great albums, especially Justin Bieber - what a turnaround for him. I never expected to love an album by someone I genuinely despised in the past so much, pleasant surprise indeed.

Don't You Cry For Me was amazing :D It really grew on me as the competition progressed!

The Sound is great as well, my favourite from that album :)

Indeed! It clicked with me right at the start of the competiton, was so nice to see it eventually do well especially considering I had an awful feeling it'd DNQ. Definitely Mulgracia's best of the year!

Yep same, the singles choices from the album have been very very good :D

BONBON!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

That might actually appear pretty high up on my EOY as well :P

Ooh good - it's so worthy, such a change from the usual pop we see in BJSC (in the sense that it's not overly weird or sassy but not too mainstream and trend-hopping, a welcome anomale to the trends of pop music!)

145. Suns - Catalyse

LOVE MONTH - AUGUST

- Now this one sparked a bit of controversy that I can only apologise for in BJSC - I completely forgot to include this easy 18 in my votes, subsequently meaning Desbuanda miss out on crucial points in the contest  Am I allowed to laugh? Sorry. But anyway, this was a brilliant track, totally different to what I usually listen to, and that is what BJSC is all about for me, great discoveries from artists and genres I wouldn't even THINK about giving a listen!

144. Drake - Fake Love

LOVE MONTH - NOVEMBER

- *waits for disapproving comment from Pete* :P Yeah, I find this brilliant. The first of three Drake entries in my countdown, this was released out of nowhere in mid-October to great joy by myself, and it did pretty well in the charts! It's a really catchy rap track, where we see some typical relatable Drake lyrics and a simple beat which = a fab song

143. Alle Farben ft YOUTNOUS - Please Tell Rosie

LOVE MONTH - AUGUST

- So moving on from a song that Pete hates, to a song that (if I recall correctly!) Pete loves. I hope that's made you feel a tad better :P. This is another ~German bop~ :music:, the second of three to feature in the countdown, and the deep house/tropical house vibes in this are just TOO irresistable. It's a must listen if you love dance music/tropical music.

142. Jonas Blue ft JP Cooper - Perfect Strangers

LOVE MONTH - JUNE

- So this is, in my opinion, the worst Jonas Blue song since he burst onto the scene at the start of the year. Released just in time for the summer, this was a gigantic hit in the UK and I really loved it at first, the drop was kind of generic but catchy, and the vocals from future star (who's new/kind of new song September Song is fab) JP Cooper are great. Can't complain with this, you'll see two more Jonas Blue tracks, and like this, they're all tropical BANGERS.

─────────────────────────────────────────,

Merry Christmas guys, the next time I post it'll most probably be Christmas Day, so I hope you all have a great rest of night/start of day and get everything you want etc. Just enjoy yourselves and don't get too tipsy

I like some of the hated songs... at least the N.1 is horrible :funky:

I really like Perfect Strangers (although is not going to enter my YEC).

I think I need to listen to more music :drama:

Ah yeah, that makes sense considering there are a fair few pop songs in the top 10 :P

Yeah it's a good song, it's my least favourite of the Jonas Blue tracks though. And if you're going to be sticking around in the charts forum you're bound to discover so much more music, to the point where you've already gotten bored of songs when they've become hits :D

Hi againg mdh, hope you're having a lovely Xmas period too ! :)

Fake Love gets far too much hate on here just for being a Drake song. He still has way better tracks but I love the vibe of it all, glad it was yet another hit for him in the charts.

Fast Car is definitely the worst Jonas Blue track for me, I hate the original anyway and the remix is just as lifeless. I think PS is my favourite so far so aww at it being your least but I also think BYS is going to overtake it for me soon. So catchy!!!

Loving this so far ! x

hiya mdh!

Good list so far, Sunshine really is dreamy & a deserved top 20 hit after all.

Sexual was one I was aware of long before it took off, always a nice moment when you hear friends talking about songs that you knew AGES before :heehee:

Fake Love is definitely a jam, what a year Drizzy has had.

Hey there Josh! Thankyou, I had a very good day, hope you did as well :D

Yeah, there's something so chilled out about it, I think the thing I like about Drake the most is the fact he doesn't take himself too seriously and he can easily pass as 'one of us', what with his relatable lyrics etcx.

I've always been a fan of the original, but I have to say the Jonas Blue version is far superior according to my ears :D I can see why you wouldn't like it, though, there's something about Dakota's vocals which do come across as a tad grating after a while. Plus, it's not exactly a totally original track, it's about as trendhopping as you can get but nvm

Thankyou, I'll check out your countdown again now :) x

Hey there Dobbo, hope your Christmas was good! :D

Oh yes indeed, such a summery tune and it was a given that it'd become a hit.

I charted Sexual initially in like late July, or thereabouts, and I assumed it wouldn't be anything more than a minor Spotify hit (ala Starley, Joel Adams), so it was a bit of a shock to see it get such long-term mainstream success, not that I'm complaining or anything! The Radio 1 edit is a bit weird though, Sensual sounds totally strange. :heehee:

Indeed, Drake has been on fire nearly all year, I'm hotly anticipating the 'More Love' (is that what it's called?) era, whenever he does finally decide to release it :D

141. Mark Forster - Wir Sind Grob

LOVE MONTH - JUNE

- I forgot this! This actually makes it the third out of four German language tracks, and this is kind of criminally low. I've been a fan of Mark Forster for a while (actually he appears again later on in the countdown, VERY high up), and this is just another great summer single from him! He somehow manages to make German so appealing, and rightfully so this was a big hit overseas.

140. Tiesto & Oliver Heldens ft Natalie La Rose - The Right Song

LOVE MONTH - FEBRUARY

- This was a really great way to start the year! Tiesto released some of his best material ever in this track, and Oliver Heldens deservedly got another hit with this. I'd also had my eye on Natalie La Rose since Somebody became a big #2 hit in 2015 (and her follow up All Around The World was absolutely fantastic ) so to see that these three musical powerhouses were coming together was very exciting. This is a huge tune, not at all trendhopping and I was really glad to see this make the top 40 last winter.

139. Francis & The Lights ft Kanye West & Bon Iver - Friends

LOVE MONTH - OCTOBER

- BBC Radio 1 had hammered this for a while before I got into it, and at first I did just think it was average, but after a few more listens I was totally in love with it, what a beautiful song! Although I'm not too sure where Kanye contributes, all three artists are fantastic alternatives, and they all combined so perfectly to make what can only be regarded as a totally breathtaking track. Bon Iver's album, released just after this, is also fantastic.

138. Carly Rae Jepsen - Store

LOVE MONTH - SEPTEMBER

- I've never been too much of a fan of Carly, Call Me Maybe was absolutely awful and I didn't think much of her 2013-15 era (bar I Really Like You and Tonight I'm Getting Over You, the former especially), so I was rather pessimistic as her E-MO-TION era began. But I was pleasantly surprised, the album has some total gems on it - this song is the main one! Such a great singalong chorus and a total earworm.
