Dawin - Dessert 64-44-35-42-42-44-50-57-60-62-56-54-59-62-60-x (15 weeks) 66 points Both songs that I am commenting on in this section have something in common. I thought both were going to be surefire crossover hits & hang around for a while. Thank fuck that didn't occur with either this or New Girl which I'll be coming to later. This is just one of those songs I don't think I was ever going to like and it is just a poor, forgettable, crap song. Though being a bit positive in this chart for once, definitely not the worst song Silento has done though! I don't think much can beat Watch Me for the overall title of worst song of the decade. So this doesn't come close to that horror but this is still dreadful. (commentary by Ultra) [editor's note: Silento features in the single remix, however the OCC credit it to Dawin only, and I think the solo version was promoted more on Spotify] 29. Bebe Rexha feat. Nicki Minaj - No Broken Hearts DNC 74 points Usually the chart flops get away with it and don't end up in the hate chart however a significant number of you really didn't like 'No Broken Hearts', which became yet another failed attempt for Bebe Rexha to become popular as a solo artist. It's not difficult to see why it flopped, when it's quite a boring song and Bebe puts on an annoying accent in the chorus (I haven't heard the song enough to remember anything else, but I'm probably not missing out on much). She really needs a killer song to have hits outside of featuring on rap and dance hits, her problem is she doesn't have that (yet?). 28. DNCE - Toothbrush 66-49-55-53-54-62-64-x (7 weeks) 75 points Well here is DUNCE again. :manson: Firstly, what a disappointing band name. For a group named DNCE, none of their songs actually make me want to dance. They also sound like they're trying to be Maroon 5 in this song, which they are not. Also, we really don't need another Maroon 5. 'Toothbrush' may not have been as overexposed and annoying as their other hit, and it's a stretch to even call this a hit as it missed the UK top 40 (thankfully), but it's still terrible. Jonas' voice sounds so whiny in the chorus, and the lyrics are awful and cringey. The production values are basically non-existant as it's generic as fuck. Basically, nothing saves this song. I'm glad they seem to have pissed off now with their floptastic third single (which barely made the Top 100) and album. This is a great example of how NOT to follow up your debut massive hit. 27. Reggie 'N' Bollie - New Girl 26-32-37-45-61-75-x (6 weeks) 75 points (more votes) This was as bad I was expecting, not fun & just irritating. They annoyed me on the X-Factor live shows (thank gosh Louisa won *.*) and this debut single was just a noise & not fun at all. This flopped a lot more than I was expecting and we finally got a follow-up single that nobody wanted this month, which supposedly samples Peter Andre's Mysterious Girl, one of the few songs worse than most of the horrors appearing in this hatechart. Thankfully I've avoided that single but unfortunately I heard this and it was crap and is fully deserving of its placing here! (commentary by Ultra) 26. Justin Timberlake - Can't Stop The Feeling! 3-2-2-2-2-3-3-5-6-9-11-11-11-15-13-18-18-23-28-29-27-26-28-29-29-30-32-32-38-44-54-56-55-39-... (34+ weeks) 76 points Justin Timberlake can do some really great songs and push the boundaries of pop music (such as getting an eight-minute long single to #1!), but then there's this which may well be one of his weakest singles to date yet it became his biggest. It feels very forced the amount of times he tells you to dance and feel good, not to mention the amount of overplay this received which it really suffered from. At least this is just for a film and isn't the single off his next album. Annoyingly it's back in the top 40 now too, can't it just go away? :drama:
January 2, 20178 yr Dessert [4.0] No Broken Hearts [4.5] I enjoyed Rexha's collaborations with Cash Cash and Martin Garrix. Her David Guetta collab was okay and the G-Eazy collab, but there is something about NBH that turns me off. Toothbrush [5.0] New Girl [5.5] Can't Stop The Feeling [9.5] They made a reference to this song in the Big Fat Quiz Of 2016
January 7, 20178 yr No Broken HEarts isn't THAT bad, it does feel like a Rita Ora album track though so doesn't really fit Bebe. That's her problem, she's had that, I Got You and I Can't Stop Drinking About You/I'm Gonna Show You Crazy, the latter two were a good sound but with the former two she's just seeing what will stick by trying everything
January 7, 20178 yr VbfpW0pbvaU 25. Shawn Mendes- Treat You Better 31-45-38-29-20-13-9-6-6-7-9-9-9-8-13-13-13-14-14-18-16-19-20-22-24-36-36-48-62-53-39-.... (31 weeks) 77 points 'Stitches' was seriously overexposed, and if it couldn't get any worse, we had to put up with the song all over again with 'Treat You Better'. The similarities between the two stand out so much that I can't decide which song is objectively more awful, although I'd say this if I had to choose. They're both in the same key, both have the same acoustic guitar and drumbeat, and the subject matter of the lyrics is also very similar (if anything, the lyrics on 'Treat You Better' are even worse, but the production is slightly better). It makes me wonder will we actually have a Shawn Mendes hit song where he's happy??? I'm sure there's one somewhere but it hasn't been released as a single yet. Although I'd rather if we just stop letting him have hits, that would be brilliant. BADDER DAN ECAN. (commentary by Dan) 24. Kanye West ft. Rihanna & Swizz Beatz - Famous 33-34-36-46-53-59-69-x(7)-74-x(3)71-73-x (10 weeks) 77 points Yeah this is utter crap. At least it didn't do too well in the charts. The lyrics are utterly disgusting, especially a specific one of course that I'm not gonna mention. Actually I really cba to give this any more commentary. Definitely one of the worst of the last few years. 23. Cheat Codes & Kris Kross Amsterdam - Sex 72-50-35-30-20-14-11-9-11-11-17-18-18-20-29-32-41-47-54-68-x (20 weeks) 81 points And more awfulness here in one of the worst dance songs of the year, this should have finished way higher than this. I like the original version but this is easily one of the worst examples of an older song being remixed. It is just offensively bad & so dreadfully done. The vocals are also crap and the beat is horrific. Shame this couldn't stall at #11 for 4 weeks, a song that would have actually been deserving of having that peak instead of the classics which have stalled at #11. Though tbh #11 is still far too high for this. Maybe #11111.... Or just non-existent. Horrendous. 22. Shawn Mendes- Stitches 72-69-55-48-53-56-55-47-41-29-25-12-4-2-1-1-3-5-5-7-10-12-8-12-12-18-16-21-22-23-25-35-34-35-38-38-47-49-46-51-59-61-62-60-61-61-65-70-69-68-72-71-x (52 weeks) 82 points This started to peak in the chart about this time last year, and eventually hit UK #1 to my disappointment. His voice for one is annoying to listen to, although the SeeB remix makes it somewhat bearable. Combined with dull production and with it being an acoustic guitar driven song, all that can sell the original song is his voice and lyrics - and neither are impressive. It's aimed too much at the pre-teen market for me to get into, I know some people here really enjoy it but to me it just feels like another generic cliche heartbreak song. Also the way he sings in the chorus, it is so annoying and painful to listen to - someone tell him to stop trying to hit the high notes. (commentary by Dan) 21. Calvin Harris - My Way 5-4-4-6-8-10-13-12-15-16-22-24-34-46-54-36-... (16 weeks) 82 points Easily the worst thing Calvin has done for a long, long time. His vocals are utterly horrific on this (well at least he doesn't get the award for having the worst vocal on his own dance track, that can go to The Chainsmokers guy who is constantly now shoe-horning himself into their songs) & the song is incredibly dull and boring. The repetitive & not good lyric makes this even worse & it is just awfully generic. A big miss from Calvin & unfortunately this was a big-ish top 5 hit but has thankfully fell quite quickly after its top 20 run!
January 7, 20178 yr Work From Home is 31 places too low here. Utter horror that song is. Why it's so popular baffles me. No, however, is very good. Towards the later section, Dessert and No Broken Hearts are garbage, but I kinda enjoy Can't Stop The Feeling. I don't love it, but it doesn't bother me. I've not heard either Toothbrush or New Girl. The 25-21 section is largely uninteresting, although Treat You Better I actually really like. Edited January 7, 20178 yr by Taylor Jago
January 7, 20178 yr Author Those two Shawn Mendes songs :puke: Both are completely unbearable, and in my opinion the two worst of the year (yes Stitches is technically 2015 I know). Poor Calvin :( I really love 'My Way' so it was a shame to see it get such a negative reception on BuzzJack. 'Sex' is also a tune, and 'Famous' is quite good.
January 7, 20178 yr Justin Timberlake is pop TRASH. Absolute utter garbage and this new 'song' is no different!
January 7, 20178 yr Treat You Better :puke: desgusteng Kanye though *.* i made that bitch faaaamous ('Sex' ain't that bad either)
January 8, 20178 yr Both Shawn songs are excellent and I won't hear otherwise. I really don't think they're THAT similar either, it's just his musical style :magic: I've given Sex loads of chances but I just can't get into it. I normally love Trevor Dahl's vocals (heck he's in my avatar right now lmao) but they are oddly distorted in this one and the production is quite boring really. My Way is AWFUL, pure awful. Basic production, even more basic lyrics, and I've never thought Calvin could sing particularly well.
January 8, 20178 yr Author #16-20 coming soon. Until then here's some clues #16 Paul approved of this #17 Thankfully this actually flopped in the UK #18 We were told this would make a comeback #19 Some people said this was painful to their ears #20 He won the Hate Chart two years ago

It felt like a late 2014/impacted charts in early 2015 but supposedly not! Well this is Jason up there with his utter worst, joining the likes of Trumpets, Wiggle- a former hatechart winner!, and Don't Wanna Go Home as his 0/10 tracks. The lyrics to this is awful and the whole vocals/production is dreadful. Especially the productions, that post chorus bloody racketing noise is one of the worst moments in a song this year. Well deserving of a top 20 placing here! (commentary by Ultra) 19. Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa & Imagine Dragons with Logic, Ty Dolla $ign & X Ambassadors - Sucker for Pain 65-28-16-13-13-11-14-15-15-18-21-23-26-34-38-46-50-69-x (18 weeks) 84 points I wonder if the Suicide Squad soundtrack producers have ever heard the expression 'too many cooks spoil the broth'? Probably not, because despite there being six artists on this song it just isn't that great. The verses are alright at best (although as often is the case, Wayne's verse is quite pointless) and the chorus gets annoying after a few listens. Quite a few passionately hated this however, especially mdh who's probably typing his rant post about this not being higher in the hate chart already. I never hated this but it didn't make my playlist either. 18. Nevada feat. Mark Morrison & Fetty Wap - The Mack 60-44-23-17-14-17-19-20-28-25-... (10 weeks) 85 points I've only heard this three times. That was enough for this to seal a place in my top 15 worst songs of last year. This is basically 'Sex' but worse. Like somehow even more generic & then there is that horrendous usual out of tune vocals by Fetty Wap on the track. Doesn't help that I detest the original as well and that is one of my least favourite songs of all time. This remix just adds another song to my worst list, dreadful. (commentary by Ultra) 17. Meghan Trainor - Me Too DNC Top 75 (#84 peak) 93 points If I was Meghan Trainor, I'd want to be me too. No but seriously, who in the world thought this was a good idea of a song? Let's start with the production, which is laughably awful. And this is from the producer (Ricky Reed) that made Jason Derulo's 'Talk Dirty' and 'Wiggle' both of which I liked, so what happened to him? Researching him, it seems he also produced 5SOS 'Girls Talk Boys', so that's two terrible songs he's done this year. It really is such a poor attempt at revitalising the electro-pop sound and sounds like something that should be coming from a Pixie Lott budget comeback, rather than a huge worldwide popstar. FORTUNATELY the UK saw sense with this one and it got no higher than #84 in the charts, but it was a US Billboard top 20 hit. Anyway, onto the vocal and lyrics, which are even worse than the production. It doesn't sound like the self-empowerment anthem it's trying to sell itself as, but more of a "I'm so wonderful look at me" anthem. Some people can pull that off, Kanye has based his whole career on selling his own greatness and he's brilliant, but it just doesn't work coming from Meghan - especially when the delivery of the lyrics are extremely annoying. Definitely one of my least favourite songs of the year. 16. Rae Sremmurd feat. Gucci Mane - Black Beatles 36-4-2-2-2-6-10-13-14-... (9 weeks) 93 points And the song which started the horrific Mannequin Challenge also unsurprisingly is one of the worst songs of the year. This was just a massive bunch of noise to my ears from listen 1 and I don't understand the appeal of the song at all. This unfortunately got as high as #2 in the charts but thank gosh it was blocked from the top spot by the FAR FAR superior Rockabye <3 Easily one of the worst songs of the last few years & glad I have managed to avoid it more than I expected to! (commentary by Ultra)
January 9, 20178 yr I love My Way, and I like Sucker For Pain and The Mack (even though I prefer the 1996 original). Speaking of Return Of The Mack, I remember watching Charity Shop Hunt videos by a YouTuber called CD Singles Collector last year (whose main attempt is to collect every UK Top 75 single from the 90's on CD single), and in one of the videos, he panned the ROTM song and didn't like the fact that it stopped his favourite Manic Street Preachers song "A Design For Life" from reaching number one. I thought Me Too and Stitches were okay. Black Beatles is somewhere between 5.5 and 6.0 for me. Speaking of which, Nicki Minaj did a version of this song called "Black Barbies", and instead of "That girl is a real crowd pleaser", it's "That girl is a real p***y pleaser". Haven't heard the full song, but I discovered it in a Billboard Hot 100 video. Get Ugly and Treat You Better: both meh for me. Don't like Famous and Sex, though. February 4, 20178 yr You are! However Dan will be doing the rest for this year or we will never get done as my BJSC/BJSC Reloaded/Buzzjack Oscars hosting + lots of real life stuff means I rly don't have time for this right now! :(
