December 29, 20169 yr They've done it before! :kink: Really when? I do really like to think MTV has to play Mariah until the 5th Jan at least lol
December 29, 20169 yr Author Really when? I do really like to think MTV has to play Mariah until the 5th Jan at least lol Certainly in the Jameela era of the chart show! I definitely remember hearing Mariah and The Pogues in the top 40 the week after Christmas ^_^
December 29, 20169 yr Would be i fun - I'm def a fan of not just playing Xmas songs until Xmas day but playing them through the holiday season. Would love to see if we have a huge Xmas hit in future years to see I it falls as quick as other Xmas songs do on the chart. Leona was maybe the best modern example when it fell slow enough (on iTunes at least for a Christmas track)!
December 29, 20169 yr Coming for that 3-8-23-Out kinda chart run then! In fairness he has held on much better this week than I was expecting. I'm pretty sure it'll be a fair bit lower than #23.
December 29, 20169 yr Matts at 29 on iTunes and top 50 on Spotify at this stage of the week not doing too badly!
December 29, 20169 yr They could have easily moved the Chart Of The Year to the old Sunday slot so we could still have our weekly fix.
December 29, 20169 yr From 'The Sun' - His festive track Last Christmas, another Wham! classic, is No5 in the offficial chart with Careless Whisper at No58 and Faith at N83. Plus they are asking fans to chose a track to back to support the charities he contributed to - https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thesun.co..../?client=safari
December 29, 20169 yr I think they'll just play the top 40 chart of the year in full and briefly mention the top 10 of the week. Hopefully they have time to do a George Michael tribute also by playing Last Christmas and Careless Whisper in full, as they'll likely fall out next week.
December 29, 20169 yr If Careless Whispers is #58, I doubt there be many George Michael tracks in the top 100, I don't even know where they are going to chart to be honest, Last Xmas will probably be outside the top 10 by tomorrow surely, Careless Whispers could scrape the top 40, but it could go the other way. I think Wham!, Mariah Carey, Matt Terry, and most likely The Pogues (maybe???) will be the only xmas tracks to the 40, still have to add 3 days of streaming sales to that update + downloads for the reminder of the week
December 29, 20169 yr You could be right Martin but a significant amount of the xmas tracks will have been sold at the start of the week, probably enough to easily be top 20 for this week despite them selling less in the final 4 days of the week. Wham especially has continued to sell post boxing day due to the untimely news about George so I would say he should be top 15 with that. Mariah should be top 10 or 11. December 29, 20169 yr I hear Elton John may perform DLTSFDOM at Georges funeral, could return to the top 40 if so.
December 29, 20169 yr Another thing I'm sure George Michael will get a recognition at the Brits for his contribution to British Music, so we haven't seen the last of Careless Whispers just yet.
December 29, 20169 yr Not a bad thing to not be seeing the back of Careless Whisper - its a fantastic track, brilliant lyrics!
December 29, 20169 yr the BRITS David Bowie didn't really affect his singles though(?) so can't see Careless Whisper returning off the back of whatever the BRITS do for that. It'll be the greatest hits album that gets the proper boost.
December 29, 20169 yr Ball & Boe back on top of the Amazon Best Sellers, wonder whether they can snatch a third week at the top. I guess the lack of stock for George Michael's "Ladies & Gentlemen" will probably prevent it from being the fifth posthumous number 1 Album of the year. Little Mix still looking strong on iTunes downloads.
December 29, 20169 yr Ball/Boe are only 4.99 most places. Must be close at the top - hard to know about sales as Friday and Saturday will ne huge whereas the rest of the week slow - maybe 55k for no1?
December 29, 20169 yr I hear Elton John may perform DLTSFDOM at Georges funeral, could return to the top 40 if so. Which word beginning with 'F' has replaced 'go'? Fall? <_<
December 29, 20169 yr From 'The Sun' - Plus they are asking fans to chose a track to back to support the charities he contributed to - https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thesun.co..../?client=safari Considering how that shitty rag treated George Michael, they've got a nerve to demand the re-release of his music so they can stick their logo all over it. http://www.nme.com/news/music/wham-careles...reissue-1925012
