I don't know if it would make much difference who takes over Breakfast on Radio 1. The BBC have already said that Radio 1 has to lower the average age of its listeners and the average age is still outside of the 15 to 29 age group it has been told to appeal to. I believe the average age of the audience is 32 so losing listeners is possibly what the station, and Breakfast, may have to do in order to meet its remit.

I think Ben Cooper knows that listening figures are in irreversible decline due to Spotify/YouTube hence him bigging up R1's social media presence.

They're not just losing listeners to streaming though - they're losing them to the likes of Kiss and Capital. It's not an irreversible decline.

The problem is though they're not being very successful in lowering the average age. They're just losing listeners.

A common comment I get from others is "there's too much talking". I don't think it's that bad but I can understand people moving to Kiss, Capital and even Heart as there's more music and less unnecessary chat. I know Radio 1 do it for audience engagement but maybe that's not what the general listener is looking for anymore.

All change from the 6th then!

It wouldn't surprise me if Jordan North ended up doing the Breakfast show tbh

I can do the rest of the Saturday schedule:

4:00 Dance Anthems with Danny Howard (The last week of Danny)

7:00 1xtra Live

0:00 Diplo and Friends

2:00 Kan D Man and DJ Limelight

4:00 David Rodigan!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow at Rodigan being bumped to Sunday mornings

Does Target have the usual 7-9/10pm slot as 1Xtra Live will be a one off thing surely? Just wondering who has the show afterwards to replace Charlie Sloth too.

Edited by LewisTScream

I think Charlie Sloth will keep his slot but be 9-12 with Target from 7-9.

I'm pretty certain Rodigan is keeping his normal show on 1xtra and it's just being repeated then on R1

Don't know how recent these figures are, but someone posted on Digital Spy that R1's Chart Show gets 1.7m (which is up on the around 1m it used to get on Sunday) and Big Top 40 gets 2.4m

Sad to see that there are more listeners tuning in to a fake chart show rather than a proper one. Being up 700k though is pretty good!

I bet those figures would be pretty much the same if they played something other than a chart show in the timeslot. I expect most people who are listening in spite of it being a chart show not because of it.

Edited in the extra info now published for Sat nights. Diplo & Friends is from 23:00 and which means there's still a show between that and the new Asian beats show at 03:00 to be announced.

Also, what's going on with Annie Nightingale? She hasn't presented her show in like 6 weeks now.

Edited by LewisTScream

Does that mean that Dev will now start from 7 in the morning if the Asian Beats show is 3 and David Rodigan is 5?

I think that new extra show might be Seani B since he always seems to do that show when Target is away and I think unless it's been confirmed as something else the 9 till 11 show will probably still be Charlie Sloth

According to Radio Times, the Asian Beats show on the 11th November is 3 hours. It's provisional though and the timings on BBC Asian Network (Also simulcasting 1Xtra Live) and R1/1Xtra differs a bit.

EDIT: The Asian Network timing is indeed incorrect.
