I might have asked this question before, but do you see Alonso staying at McLaren after 2017? I'd be amazed if he does if McLaren are like 2015 all over again.

It'll be interesting to se how Stroll does for Williams in the early races for some reason I have Pizzonia's vibes with him.

I don't think so. He's either retiring or going for a glory year with someone capable of winning. Palmer is on a one year contract. Ferrari are in market again. Not sure Bottas is tied to merc for long either. Plenty of big seats around.

Honestly I see Renault going for Sainz rather than Alonso (as nice as it's be) and I cant see him back at Ferrari so either Merc or retire I think. Shame as he's the superior talent to Hamilton. Hamilton is anonymous when not in the best car and that's when Alonso utterly thrives.

Testing didn't go well for Stroll did it? I'm apprehensive about him coz his daddy clearly bought that seat and I'm not entirely convinced it's deserved. Stoffel for example is a much more promising talent. At that end of the experience scale Stroll is up against Ocon, Werhline, Palmer and Max too and I haven't seen anything that convinces me that he's worth a drive at all never mind capable of beating last years rookies

And Mercedes top both of the practice sessions. Hoping Ferrari and Red Bull put a fight at least in qualifying and the race.

With the rules changes, they've either f***ed it up again and made it boring or produced close exciting racing. We shall see.

Good to see Hammo on pole & Bottas putting up a decent fight! Shame Vettel just pipped him to the front row but at least it's 2 teams at the front I suppose. The start will be interesting with the clutch changes & I can see Seb leading into turn 1 tbf.

Gutted for Danny Ric, a very uncharacteristic error. Should be fun watching him scythe through the field.

Hopefully it will be an interesting race. Didn't see qualifying though. Stroll already looking out of his depth there.

Giovinazzi in for Wehrlein who misses the race due to his back injury. Qualified 17th.

Mightly qualifying for Grosjean in Haas in 6th.

*16th

Very nearly beat Eriksson who lines up 15th. If he'd no made that wee error on the final turn he'd have made Q2.

Palmer is just an embarrassment. His attitude sucked after too. He binned it on Friday and then they had to rush the car so he's nae right to f***ing winge about the car after that. If it continues he'll be gone by the mid point.

^_^

I cackled when the overcut worked and at just how loudly the crowd celebrated the dethroning of hamilcunt. Could be a good year after all

the crowd reaction was great to see

gutted for Ricciardo tho especially on home soil

I think he got boo'd on the podium a lil too.

Horrid weekend for Dani Ric. :( hopefully they've not burned through an engine already as that's gonna be costly at the end of the season

Yes he definitely got booed obviously because of his controversial tactics in Abu Dhabi. Good win for Vettel, finally a non-Mercedes win.

Stroll very poor indeed.

Amazed the fans were allowed to invade the track straight after the race when cars were still on the track.

I expect the crowd were cheering mainly just because a Mercedes was overtaken! First win on outright performance for a different team since Singapore 2015. Definitely what the season needed, although if it ends up swinging the other way & Ferrari become the dominant car that'll make for an even worse season given their mantra of a clear first & second driver. Hopefully not & we see a close fight throughout with hopefully RBR getting in the mix too.

Australians never have much luck in Oz do they?

I'm glad though that there was a non-Mercedes win. It definitely needed that. I expect a straight fight between Vettel and the Brit. Can see Raikkonen and Bottas definitely being the no2 driver.

I don't think Bottas should be disappointed with third place. It was a solid drive from him.

Massa had a good drive from his short-lived retirement. He'll much superior to Stroll. I know I have probably written him off, Stroll. He'll have to prove me wrong.

I can see Giovinazzi getting a drive next year hopefully. He'd impressed me considering he had limited running in the car. 12th was probably the best he could have hoped for.

Palmer was very disappointing, a contender to be replaced mid-season if he can't produce any results.

Giovinazzi will be racing again in China as Wehrlein continues his recovery from a back injury he suffered in the Race of Champions back in January.

He's getting a lot of flack for pulling out again :/

I hurt my back over a decade ago and when it hurts real bad there's no way it'd be able to get anywhere near the G forces one of these things produces.

Father of Max, Jos Verstappen has been arrested following a fight at the nightclub.

He could be back as late as Russia, Wehrlein could. Depends how bad the injury is, clearly he isn't fit enough to return just yet. If Antonio produces a similar drive or betters his drive in China he should be able to get a drive for next season.
