6 days later and it most certainly is a grower! Absolutely brilliant, effortlessly upbeat and infectious with great lyrics - this is what a pop song should be! Lovely to see she's managed to craft a superb pop song without trend hopping.

 

I can see this being one of my favourite songs of the year tbh.

Give me CATCHY GENERIC POP over tuneless noise like Dark Horse any day. Roar might be pop by numbers but that chorus is instant, infectious and so much fun. Firework is obviously ICONIC for it's rubbish lyrics but self help pop has always been a thing and I don't mind when it's got a sledgehammer chorus like that. Dark Horse doesn't even HAVE a chorus.

Dark Horse IS tuneage, absolute bip!! Veery catchy without being cheesy pop.
