LOVE! :heart: As I hoped, it's playful and ironic disguised in a colourful, eccentric video. You've got little nods to what the song is about but it's very subtly done.

 

So much for 'Last Friday Night' Part 2 though... :kink:

I loved the video though, high budget, glossy and Disney-like colours but with a really sinister undertone and clear message.

I love the undertone and subtle shade of the video, whilst being masked by brightness and happiness. It portrays the song perfectly! I've never really liked Katy that much but I'm so on board with this release.

Her looks and clothes in the video are tragic. I don't like the video, there's something super childish about it. It's also too random and not in a funny or artistic way.

This is already a contender for the best video of this year. Around the end I kinda got what the video's message and GOD it looks so fun!

The second half of the video (particularly the scene with Skip Marley) works better than the first for me. I think it just has more power and symbolic meaning given the message of the song.

 

I suppose the first half has to have them all in this distorted overly happy reality and set that up in order for there to be any weight behind the realisation they are all being distracted from the real issues at hand. I also suppose a fairground is the perfect setting for that, because when you are on a ride it is kind of beyond your individual control, you can't get off and you are forced at that point to let those controlling the ride to do as they please. Then there is the fact it is a kind of induced happiness that is short lasting which also goes with the message of realisation. It is only when you remove yourself from the ride that you can truly see what is going on.

 

I think it is very well done and well thought out overall. I just think I prefer the second half aesthetically.

I like this now but not as a comeback single thanks to that excellent video.
