I feel like Hot Hits Uk has more effect on how songs do than airplay now...

I agree - it needs looked at - imo if a song is top 40/50 on iTunes it should be added and once a songs been on or reached a peak it should be removed!

Looking at these charts you can really see how rigid things are, it sums up the definition of the expression "same shit, different day". You can't even get the same buzz that you could have got from iTunes in it's heyday when the chart would update every 30 minutes making it as fresh as it could be. You can only see this chart being updated once per day and it seems like there is a detached lack of continuity with how the songs are placed in the chart compared to the previous day.

Stormzy still hanging around quite well! I suppose he could still make official top 10 this week, we'll have to wait and see where he is in todays mids though.

 

Despacito is doing a Chantaje but on a slightly larger scale! It's all due to it being #3 on the worldwide charts, but it'll be interesting to see if any of these foriegn language songs can do well enough to become a hit here. I'd say the next Enrique Iglesias one could be a hit here if it's mainstream enough!

funny how long it's taken for Train to go top 200.... what I don't get is how come it was already doing well on Apple Stream, it's been around #60-70 for days now... but all newies do better at Apple, Stormzy is currently #3... and many others that are not top 40 on Spotify are top 40 on Apple like Safe Inside, Zara's So Good, Imagine Dragons, Samantha, Big Sean etc

There's usually a rough correlation between the iTunes chart and the Apple Music chart, meaning that new songs are favoured more so there than they are on Spotify. I think if there was a prominent playlist on Spotify which had the iTunes chart on there'd be a lot more movement in the chart, as even though streaming plays a bigger sales part in the chart now the truest reflection of a songs current popularity is still on iTunes.
