Great single title and cover (if that is the cover). Harry was always going to blow up as a solo artist. He's always been the JT/Robbie of 1D.

Looks like he'll get a full week of sales then, 6 days and 22.5 hours worth to be exact which is good. I was worried itd be released Friday night in the UK.
At least they are releasing it at the right time by giving it the full week. I look forward to hearing this, i must say they have surprised me so far with their solo offerings I like Niall and Louis's offerings so far.

Apparently there's only one copy of the song in the world right now and it's on an iPod that people are given to hear it

It's on Capital's A list from Friday, although the lettering works differently so this is the third-from-top playlist, not the top playlist as originally expected. I assume they're a bit cautious because the description doesn't sound very Capital friendly :') and going by the above, it's possibly they've not even heard it yet!

Seems like the previous timings were wrong, the Columbia Records Twitter has confirmed it premieres at 8am on Radio 1 :D

EDIT: full premiere times:

What do they do if it accidentally gets deleted? Or if somebody does so deliberately to be vindictive?

 I'm sure it's saved securely with the record label but that's not a bad point :kink: nevertheless it's a pretty good tactic, ensures it doesn't get leaked at least!

STYLES THE STARMAN:We give the world’s FIRST review of Harry Styles’ debut solo single Sign of the Times — an epic, David Bowie-esque rock ballad

One Direction star wows with 'deeply personal' song

6th April 2017 | from Dan Wootton's Bizarre column

FIVE minutes and 40 seconds.

That’s how long it takes former ONE DIRECTION heart-throb HARRY STYLES to establish himself as the world’s most exciting new music star.

His debut single Sign of the Times is a soaring, epic rock ballad that sounds like a cross between DAVID BOWIE and LANA DEL REY (as weird as that sounds).

It goes against the current trend of non-distinguishable dance tracks — the length alone would make it commercial suicide for any other artist.

Its main instrument is the piano, which Harry has been studiously playing in private for years.

For large portions of the track he sings in falsetto, showing off a quality voice with much more range than we ever saw during his five years in 1D. This song has the potential to become a timeless classic.

Harry co-wrote it with the brilliant, highly regarded Grammy-winning producer JEFF BHASKER, best known for his work with KANYE WEST and JAY Z.

Whether anyone in the industry will take young Harry seriously as the “next Bowie” remains to be seen, but the 23-year-old is certainly putting his best foot forward.

The lyrics are “deeply personal”, sources close to Harry tell me, but they’re also open to any form of interpretation.

Sign of the Times begins with him singing over the piano: “Just stop your crying, it’s a sign of the times. Welcome to the final show, hope you’re wearing your best clothes.”

Could it be about a break-up? Possibly. Or maybe about death? More likely.

The refrain throughout the song is his need to “gotta get away from here”. From what exactly isn’t clear.

We could meet again somewhere, somewhere far away from here,” he sings, poignantly.

Many people think Harry has disappeared up his own backside with an arty promotional campaign designed to distance himself as far as possible from the 1D heritage that has given him this opportunity.

That said, I give him huge credit for releasing the most daring and well-delivered debut single of the decade.

And you won’t get it out of your head once you’ve heard it . . .

Starman rating: 5/5 stars

This is all sounding VERY exciting now :o

I think I'm a bit of a MESS right now, never been quite this exhilarated over a song premiere, but wow that was incredible   I had slight doubts in my mind and they were totally unnecessary in the end, his voice is incredible on any song and it's really well written too. Totally different to anything else in the charts but not alienating, to stop it being a hit.
Yeah, this really is pretty fantastic. I can definitely understand the Bowie comparison/inspiration. With all the hype on his side, he's surely gonna be the biggest solo success of 1D
I really like it! The rock power ballad vibe really works for him. I wasn't too sure on the slightly distorted vocals during the falsetto at first, it didn't seem to fit right and took away from the impact of just hearing his natural voice over a piano, but I grew to like it towards the end. Definitely going to be a bit hit, although I suspect radio will want a ~3:30 edit.

Straight onto the Radio 1 a-list and is top of the New Music Friday playlist on Spotify! Also added to Hot Hits UK on Spotify too, ie. the playlist with the biggest chart impact :cheer:
