Oh please, Elisabeth! Can't you just stick with Robbie's page for his praising?! Nobody is bothering you there.

What promo exactly has Giants had, so that people had the opportunity to NOT GET the song? I'm more than willing to concede your point if Take That have an important promotion slot and the single does absolutely nothing. Until then, it's all supposition on your part and facts on ours. When I look at the main page on this forum, almost everyone who's heard the song likes it.

Robbie may have shifted a few copies in other countries, but then again, he just came off a big international tour and heavy, heavy, heavy promotion.

We're simply comparing what's comparable at this point: the situation in UK, period. And nobody was doing it to put down Robbie. We were just trying to emphasize the fact that TT have done decently with 0 promotion and bad streaming.

As for LML beating Giants on iTunes, that's only due to PROMOTION - have you magically forgot a little show called THE BRIT AWARDS this week? I'd say that, for such an important slot, LML is actually doing pretty bad on iTunes. LML #33, after the Brits, Giants #37 after...NOTHING.

Grrrr YouTube has taken down the acapella version of Giants. Was really looking forward to hearing it too!
It's still working for me. Install Hola and set it for another country. It's working for the USA for me.

Thank you so much milly :)

That YouTube channel is amazing, I was like a kid in a sweet shop lol. Loving the acapella songs and how on earth did I not know about all of the extended versions of those early TT songs??!!

You welcome :)

The acapella versions are incredible. Freeze sounds amazing.

Oh dear... no Giants on Let it Shine tonight. Absolute madness!

Could it be that the BBC wouldn't allow it, in case it was seen as an abuse of Gary' s position in the show?

On the plus side, it was a great performance of The Flood. And it just looks/feels right with 4 members on stage together.

Yes definitely must be something to do with self promotion on the BBC?

The Flood has jumped to #108 on iTunes, pretty sure if they had been allowed to perform 'Giants' it would be back in the Top 20.

Looks like Giants will never get any promotion. I enjoyed the flood performance as i love that song. Giants isnt a patch on the flood or many other singles by them for that matter. I like Giants but its not a song i would purchase if it wasnt for the fact i wanted the cd singles for my Take That collection. I am hoping (and im confident there will) be much better songs on the album.

Im really disappointed by the very low debut of number 86 here in Ireland. I had hoped low top 40.

Yup, whatever the reason, Giants doesn't seem to be getting any promo soon.

Gary did say in an interview that he was anxious to get the new music out there and he couldn't wait anymore - maybe that's what happened - they hurried up with the single instead of waiting for March and that's why they didn't have any promo lined up.

I'm still hoping that this was just a buzz single and they'll follow up with a 2nd one, right before the album release. Fearne Cotton was gushing about Hope - maybe they'll release that one as the leading single for the album.

Ya it would be great if Giants was only a buzz single but the release of the cd single suggests it wasnt and that it is the lead single.

If I remember correctly, I recall Andrew Lloyd Webber wasn't allowed to perform any of the music from Love Never Dies leading up to its launch, due to the promotion issue. Although, he could perform any of his back catalogue, which probably explains why they did The Flood.

Must say, they were fantastic last night. Best I've heard Robbie ever sing it

I can KIND OF understand the BBCs stance on this, given that they have to be seen to be impartial etc, but when you break it down its a bit of a flawed policy really...

BBC - sorry Gary you can't perform Giants tonight as we can't be seen to be allowing you to use Let it Shine as a promotional vehicle for take that.

Gary - what??? cant you just ask graham to do that thing afterwards that the BBC always does by saying "other songs by reformed 90s boy bands are available"?

BBC - no. Sorry.

[PAUSE]

BBC - but...if you want, feel free to promote one of your old songs instead.

In my mind, if the BBC have decided it's ok for TT to perform on Let it shine then it shouldn't matter what song they sing. Whatever they sings its "promotion" of sorts.

Agree with MOTTFAN.

But even admitting that BBC didn't allow them to perform Giants, there's still no excuse for the lack of promotion through other vehicles.

^^This! Regardless of the reason of not performing 'Giants' on LIS there is no excuse for zero promo elsewhere! As I said previously it's not like they would struggle to get on most TV shows.

It's the fact there hasn't even been key radio interviews either that gets me - they have literally done nothing apart from a live Facebook interview.

I just don't get why they went to so much effort with physicals, new b-side, live tracks etc., and managed to combat lack of streams and then forgot they had even released it.

The album will do well - Take That are very much an album act now but it will be a fan base album as they have so far failed to inform the casual listener/general public that they are back.

The problem they now face, and most likely experienced with Three, is they are losing fans and failing to attract the casual fans. Giants, will have done nothing to reverse this which indicates the new album will sell less than Three. That said, all they need is a classic Take That style ballad to try and stall or reverse the decline in sales. However, with the complete lack of promotion invested into Giants i am apprehensive with how the Wonderland era will perform all round.

The performance of the 2nd single will play a major influence, for the 2nd single they really need to put in the work.

There is seemingly an interview with Chris Evans on March, 31. That's another thing I don't understand - I'd have thought they would throw in all the big guns to promote the album before the release or during the release week, when most of the sales happen.

^^I won't judge yet until we see what promo they actually do but the whole thing feels like a mess at the moment.

Gary is everywhere working on multiple projects and Howard and Mark are nowhere to be seen? I know Howard has just had his baby but there is nothing to stop the band members individually getting promo.

The comments about losing fans is right - they are not the supergroup they once were and I appreciate that you can't stay top of your game forever but at least try?

I am a hardcore GB fan, but I'm almost jealous of how well everything is going for The Girls and I wish TT's new album got the same reception.

You know it's not good when a musical gets more promotion than a new album.

I hope Wonderland delivers, for me at least, just the way The Girls and FN did.
