MelFest 2017 is turning into a mini shit storm. There's only three songs I'm bothered about. If Wictoria gets it, that's two years on the bounce I'll be brushing Sweden to one side. I reluctantly accepted Frans as it was on-trend, as much as I disliked it it, but Wictoria? Absolutely not.

I'll give Sweden some credit, discarding Loreen like that was ballsy. They did it in such a destructive way, let's have her perform AGAIN and tell her no.

Depending on what Sweden ends up sending, Loreen likely would have just done better in Eurovision based on name alone.

God help them if Owe ends up going, they won't even get out of the Semi's. I wouldn't put it past the international juries to throw him a few points to screw them over either.

Owe isn't the only one that I would think would fail to qualify for the Eurovision Finals either.

for whatever reason i can see a robin win

gay internet ppl and swedish tele voters are 2 different beasts...

Can't believe Loreen really has gone. Utter madness!
When people say Loreen would do well on name alone just look at Charlotte with Hero. I mean I know she looked like a different person but that's a big fall.
It's pretty sad that she's never going to become the star she deserves to be. She'll probably just be touring the Eurovision legacy circuit with Johnny Logan et al in 20 years time, or quit music altogether, I'm undecided which.

Same, I think she'll continue to get her messages across (by entering politics perhaps?), but possibly not through music.

I just don't see her being reduced to a one-hit wonder nostalgia act, she appears to be too passionate about her causes to just give up. But it's become heartbreakingly clear that she will never be a commercial musical prospect again, and I'm not so sure that she's ever been that into recording music anyway.

I don't think it's the last we've heard of Loreen, I'm just unsure as to how and where we'll hear of her again after this album (if it ever sees the light of day).

She is really one if the most promising musicians out there at the moment. Her stage presence and charisma are something some others never even dream of. Not even mentioning her vocals and a very likeable personality. This shouldn't be the last we hear from her surely. Loreen doesn't strike me as someone to give up like that.

It would be such a shame for Loreen to just give up but it must be such a disheartening loss :/ Not to sound snobby towards the other songs but for a brilliant, different song with such an amazing message to lose to so many generic white "hot" males with generic pop songs (most of which are good, to be fair) is a bit ridiculous. I think it was just too out there for Eurovision, the most different they'll go is Jon-Henrik and anything ethnic isn't really a HUGE risk, it just doesn't happen that much anymore.

At Eurovision I'd guess something like:

Wild Child - top 10

Her Kiss - probably borderline qualifier, 21st or so in the final sort of thing

I Don't Give A - top 20

I Can't Go On - top 15

En värld full av strider - a tough one, I'm not sure if it's something only Sweden really get or if it'd be something ethnic and different that connected at Eurovision

Kiss You Goodbye - probably top 15, these sort of songs are usually safe for about that if a bit lower.

A Million Years - top 10

Gotta Thing About You - top 15, possibly top 10

Hold On - top 20

As I Lay Me Down - top 5 surely??

Good Lovin' - top 20

Boogieman Blues - probably DNQ

I feel like maybe I'm over optimistic because this is Sweden but I think being Sweden, if they chuck out another obvious hit in Wiktoria they'll most probably stil get a top 20 with most entries because they can easily stage songs to get their potential out and finish well. I think Owe is the only one who'd DNQ but Her Kiss is borderline definitely.

Boogieman Blues would be such a ridiculous entry, part of me thinks it could actually Q  I can see why people have it but it's a charming performance and it's not like it has no musical merit, it's pretty instant. Not that Sweden would ever pick it anyway mind.

I do think they need to be careful with what they pick if they want to keep the top five streak up, it's not exactly a final full of potential Eurovision smashes this year.

I'm worried that people will be blinded by thinking Nano will be a smash and vote for that next week, because I still really don't think it would connect massively at Eurovision, I could see it maybe mopping up lots of 1-3 points and that's it really...it completely fails to be as big, anthemic and momentous as it is trying to be imo.

On the SVT website poll Jon Henrik is winning with 19%, Wiktoria with 15% and Nano with 14%. I would imagine it will come down the Juries. its quite wide open but I am definitely rooting for Wiktoria. itd definitely be a top 5 contender at Eurovision.

I'm glad he's been shoved on last because I watched a recap earlier of the finalists in the running order and it would've been too much of a change to be between anything else

Bias aside, I don't see Wictoria as storming Eurovision. Top 10, possibly top 5 with a good slot. I genuinely think Nano, Mariette and Robin would do better in Kiev.

The International Jury for Melodifestivalen 2017

Armenia – Iveta Mukuchyan (Eurovision 2016)

Australia – Stephanie Werret (Head of Delegation/SBS/ Blink TV)

UK – Simon Proctor

France – Edoardo Grassi (Head of Delegation/ France 2)

Israel – Tali Eshkoli

Italy – Nicola Caligiore (Head of Delegation/Rai)

Malta – Gordon Bonello

Norway – Anette Lauenborg Waaler

Poland – Mateusz Grzesinski

Czech Republic – Jan Bors (Head of Delegation/CT)

Ukraine – Victoria Romanova ( Head of Delegation/NTU)

The voting presentation has changed a bit at the end, once they are down to the final 2 contenders they took the scoreboard off screen and did an X Factor esque "the winner is...." with the 2 contenders in split screen instead of "so and so gets 125 points which isn't enough!!!"
