First listen rate for meeeee:

09.5 'Filthy'

07.5 'Midnight Summer Jam' > Very 'Take Back the Night' meets 'Let the Groove Get In'. Not quite as strong as either of them though. <

08.5 'Sauce' > Ooft. There's something about this that I love. I think it'll grow into one of my faves! <

06.5 'Man Of The Woods' > I dunno exactly what I was expecting, but this wasn't what I had in mind. Lol. Erm. It's ok. I'm sure I'll grow to like it after the initial "shock" <

06.0 'Higher Higher' > Meh. We'll see with this one. <

07.0 'Wave' > Love the bouncy production. I'm kinda digging this. Not sure though. <

09.0 'Supplies'

07.0 'Morning Light' (feat. Alicia Keys) > I am liking this despite it not being particularly exciting. Alicia was a nice feature choice though. <

10.0 'Say Something' (feat. Chris Stapleton)

xx.x. 'Hers (Interlude)' > Not really one to rate interludes, but this was lovely. <

07.5 'Flannel' > This is quite corny but cute. This reminds me of the sort of thing he did when he was in 'Inside Llewyn Davis' haha. <

06.0 'Montana' > Very filler. But it's got a nice groove to it. <

07.0 'Breeze Off the Pond' > Love the ending. His voice is best when it flickers to and from his falsetto wubbbb <

08.0 'Livin' Off the Land' > Definitely one of the more interesting tracks off the album. I assume this was assisted by Timbaland? The chorus melody is gorgeous. <

08.5 'The Hard Stuff' > I would love this more if the melody in the production was more obvious! Such a nice song though. <

08.0 'Young Man' > Really sweet and pretty much what I expected from it. The ending is too cute. <

Basically... In the future, less Pharrell and more Timbaland please Justin.

As I said above, if you was to reimagine a sequel to 'Justified' today, I suspect this is what you'd get.

I don't hate or dislike the album, but I'd be lying if I was saying I wasn't disappointed. It's a nice album though. Quite similar to 'Joanne' for me in that it's still quite like the artist with the odd quirks and stuff, but I was expecting more/wasn't expecting them to be as "earthy" as they turned out to be. But I grew to absolutely adore 'Joanne' so I will definitely be sticking with this.

Nice effort, but expected a bit more.

dull as anything. smacks of having nothing to say yet ironically putting out a 16 track bloated record of these kumbaya ditties

i guess he’s getting on a bit now with a wife and child so naturally his musical identity metamorphoses into a costa coffee background music

Costa coffee background music

I kinda died

hahaha that's one step lower than starbucks coffee music I imagine ;)
but weren't there supposed to be songs with a bit on a Bon Iver sound??? pretty sure I read it somewhere

This has potential to be Joanne-like rebirth but it's just too long and all over the place. Also the lyrics are one gigantic mess... Like: "Success is cool / Money is fine / But you’re special, another level"

Bitch please :D :D

Listened in full - at 1 hour 6 minutes it does feel like a lengthy process. I think after another listen through I may cut 4 tracks. I also don't think the multiple interludes help.

"Waves" is the standout dud for me.

However I did enjoy it - certainly as background music - so the Costa Coffee background music analogy is arguably spot on. I don't think that's a bad thing though!

Oh and I loved the title track!

On the brighter note, this is going to end up being a significant album for all the "what they were thinking" articles.

I like Midnight Summer Jam, it's basically what the title suggests

I've given this a spin and I have to say this is one of his best IMO. i love the slight country influences. It reminds me of Kylie's new stuff; still very much his sound but with a bit of tweeking. He's not gone all honky tonk but added more than a steel guitar.

gimme dat country pop JT yass Daddy.

It's all what I expect from a JT album in 2018. He's clearly more grounded with his family but still has that fun side to him. Plus, the visuals are amazing. He gets better looking as he ages. I prefer him with a more rugged, slightly more rough around the edges look rather than the overly polished sex symbol look he used to rock.

Livin' Off The Land >>>>>>>>>

He's never been much of a lyricist anyway though.

2nd listen through and much better. I said "Waves" was a dud but I'm not feeling so much like that now.

Oddly I found the 2nd half better on 1st listen, and found the 1st half better on 2nd listen

Initial impression is that this is generally rather shite. I had a quick flick through earlier and there is pretty much nothing I want to revisit.

Say Something really is about as good as it's gonna get on this visit.

I think for me it could stand up there with his very best in the long-run, really really loving "Say Something"

‘livin off the land’ the amish anti-banger you never knew you never wanted

OKay upon first listen I have decided that I have had ENOUGH OF ONE MINUTE LONG INTERVALS AFTER EVERY SINGLE SONG. A lot of these sound very Justified-era which is also promising.

So Livin’ Off The Land was the other song in the MOTW trailer! Nice.

Honestly so disappointed by this. Was so looking forward to something new from Justin but it is all just so unbelievably bland.
The more I listen the more I enjoy this. It has a feel of "I'm a lumberjack who works all day on the land and then goes home to my log cabin and does kinky sex things with my hot wife" which I'm here for.

Saaame. I'm already growing to like most of the tracks.

Just got around to watching the MOTW video, so cute and really sold the song to me. Pretty funny in a late chat show sketch sort of way, especially in the last minute or so.

My only issue with the videos is... How do they connect? I was really intrigued by the way 'Filthy' ended and thought we'd get 4 videos connected together...
