Derek Milligan decides to get revenge on Gary Windass after their business partnership soured and furiously wields a gun in the Rovers.

But during the firefight, which plays out on December 25, Michelle Connor’s partner Robert Preston, played by Tristan Gemmill, is fatally shot. Another resident is also wounded.

A soap source said: “Derek gets drunk and starts waving a gun around the pub.

"There’s a tense stand-off then a massive fight between the two men and two people are shot, including Robert, who dies on Christmas Day.

I’m sad this has leaked as it could’ve been great had it not been spoiled! Roberts story ending that way is sad tbh but I suppose there was no way back for him given the getting someone else pregnant element and then with Kym Marsh leaving too. Maybe he might die a hero though?

Wonder if the other person is Bethany which leads to her exit.

I think she’ll survive but perhaps a near death experience will make her re-evaluate her life and she’ll go of to pursue her journalism career.

Don't forget the extra show on Thursday at 8.30 folks. Means they've still 3 to slot in somewhere as they work to a strict schedule of 312 shows recorded and screened a year. Have read they'll slot them in over Christmas though with more hour-long episodes.

I don’t know if I’m in the minority or majority here but I much prefer hour long episodes as opposed to two half hour ones 30 mins apart.

I do too. Hate the half-hour in between.

I much prefer the half hour gap, it breaks it up a bit! Hour-long episodes are a bit much I find, the break to watch EastEnders in between (well, Monday and Friday anyway) is welcomed by me.
A terminal cancer storyline being totally ruined by this cheap sensationalist cheating crap. Shame on the producers.

It is hampering the storyline and totally unnecessary.

Agreed, it's ruining both Daniel and Bethany and it's taking away from what should be a moment for Sinead to shine. And it still is, Katie McGlynn is playing beyond a blinder, but it's a shame that they feel the need to embellish it with the type of storyline we see so often.

Def agree as,as a couple they were strong so the bethany stuff takes away from all that.

If they ruin it with any Bethany and Daniel material they will have ruined the whole storyline.
That was a perfect ending, even the bits that weren't Daniel and Sinead (I mean they couldn't do an hour of Sinead in bed barely clinging to life) felt fitting for her and didn't detract from the fact they were her last hours.
Hmm seems a bit odd having her funeral in about 6 weeks time... maybe it’s just been filmed really late and will be slotted in over the next fortnight or something?
