Dare I say Asha might be the best character in the show right now? LOVE her

It's just lovely to see what's developing between her and Nina right now, a no fuss, no fireworks same-sex relationship that isn't made a big deal, but it's still tackled in an entertaining and important and lovely way.

Haven't watched in a while but it was cute to see it develop on Wednesday nights show, although going for a date in that silly excuse of a park. I wish they'd just let that spot go.

Corrie's been so good this year I think, by far the best of the soaps. Almost every storyline is interesting! The Leanne / Simon drug storyline has been a brilliant pay-off to the Oliver storyline, Jane Danson is superb as ever and Alex Bain has really proven himself in his first proper adult storyline. Jenny McAlpine has been amazing in the Tyrone / Fiz storyline too? I know the character of Fiz isn't overly popular but she's been so easy to root for recently.

The downside is the Bailey family storyline, or more specifically, Michael  I'm not endeared at all to Ronnie so far and Aggie being on videocall only isn't helping but I quite like the actual storyline. It's a shame Michael is so poorly acted  I feel like they're wasting all the storylines on him while James has faded into the background - I hope the homophobia in sport storyline isn't done for good as there's surely more to explore there!

I don’t really get the ‘Michael is a bad actor’ thing? I mean he’s not gonna be winning a BAFTA anytime soon but I think he’s really the only likeable one in the family? Edison’s acting leaves a lot to be desired and James’ acting is really not that good. The less said about Aggie’s FaceTime the better. You know it’s bad when Grace is now one of the better ones in the family :arrr:

The Bailey family are just so pointless, Michael is ok and I like James but the whole dynamic of the family is just... flat? They don't work as a unit, there's absolutely no point to Aggie or Ed. I mean Aggie just pops up on a video call now and then or slags off Grace, there isn't an ounce of personality between either of them. At least they've tried for storylines with the two boys, I cba with the RIVETING "Aggie is a nurse you know!!!!11!" loop. I think the character is just written awfully bc the actress was brilliant in Doctors.

The Alina/Tyone saga is also borderline excruciating, as if Fiz needed any more reasons to do nothing but whinge and moan. Alina also is just a horrendous actress, the character is fine but she's such a bad actress that sometimes it makes me genuinely HOWL, last night when she lashed out at Maria

I agree about the Baileys, they dont work, Michael is the only one in any way interesting but they are not a family I can see staying for long unless the scriptwriters can turn their fortunes around.

The character's not unlikeable but that doesn't make the actor any good :kink: nothing he does is particularly convincing to me. Ed and James aren't exactly BAFTA winners like you say but I think they're better at least. I enjoy the family unit as a whole, I think there are interesting dynamics and we've not even seen them at their full potential yet.

They were obviously brought in to tick the right PC boxes so can't see them got rid of just yet but I'm not keen on them or their stories at all.

Edited by common sense

between Leanne and her grief and now this drug storyline, I'm giving Corrie a miss... oh and that Peter "might die" storyline when you know the actor isn't going anywhere. Am I dubious for finding these kinda stories annoying?

Am loving the Leanne/Simon drug running storyline and Harvey's a great character.

Wonder if Alina will leave. Hope she stays, if only to rub Fiz's nose in it every time she sees her.

ITV has just announced that due to Prince Philip's death, tonight's Corrie is cancelled. A decision yet to be made about Monday's edition.

Big new Corrie storyline starts tonight and set to run all year and in to next year too. This is Corrie's big new storyline of 2021 with lots of twists and turns.

Goth Nina and boyfriend Seb are viciously attacked in a hate attack after responding to being taunted by Cory, Kelly and gang. Both are left with terriblel life-changing injuries. Then Corey denies it all to a very suspicious Asha.

I have been getting more and more into Corrie over the past few months. Today confirmed that it is an exceptional soap. The way they have built up the characters over the past few months, explored Nina's identity and really allowed us to connect to her, Seb and Asha, only for the cruel reality of discrimination and prejudice to beat them down in the way they did was brutal.

I felt so emotional and teary; the chase scenes in particular were really difficult to watch. Feeling so drained after the two episodes :''(

Abi is most probably the best character in any soap for me atm, I LOVE her. This storyline was awful to watch tonight but so important, can't wait to see what happens and I know they will do it justice.

You'll have to wait a long time as it's going on until at least Jan/Feb.

It was such a powerful couple of episodes. The attack itself was horrific to watch, particularly as I really enjoy both Nina and Seb, particularly as a couple. Roy stole the second episode of the night, he must be protected at all costs

This is what Corrie does so well - it builds characters up and makes us care for them before the big issue-based storylines, and that's why it works. EastEnders, take notes!
