Free users can skip, but only a certain number of times per day.

Spotify is by FAR the biggest streaming platform, the others contribute a much smaller proportion so don't need their own discussion topics. iTunes is the same for the download market.

Yes one or two skips per day is really a lot

Do you have specific data confirming your words about 'FAR' domination of Spotify over lets say Deezer? And many others?

Are the other platforms not included into chart at all?

It's more like 5 or 6, as I've found from experience.

I don't have specific data from recently but back in 2015, when the chart first moved to Friday, there was a week without any Spotify data in the chart. The impact of streaming was negligible as a result, because Spotify holds such a huge share. If you totalled up the daily Spotify figures and compared them to the final streaming figures at the end of the week, I'm sure you'd find there isn't a particularly big difference between the two figures.

They are included but they don't make a significant impact.

Spotify has 100 million users

Apple Music has 20 million.

Deezer has 6 million.

Because that actually takes effort.

I make a effort then clearly lol

Plenty of contenders to chart high this week, expect Dua Lipa to debut into the top 50 and expect climbs into the top 50 from Lady Gaga, Luis Fonsi, Paramore, and Shawn Mendes. Expect Lana Del Rey to climb a lot higher in the top 50 than she is.

Honestly I think a good percentage of users do, but they're probably all veering off into different directions that can't be seen on the chart because they spread too thin. And heck, there might be people who are making their own playlists based on songs they've heard on those playlists they like (I do it with New Music Friday myself) and that'll only show up on the chart as more seemingly autonomous streams for those playlist-boosted songs.

Is there any evidence that most people just passively listen, rather thn choosing what they listen to?

I want Steps to enter the spotify chart, hopefully with their new labum, it will help.

Scared Of The Dark needs to be on Hot Hits though!

What a run! I've never even heard of it! 😂

that's because it for some ungodly reason got a big push to Spotify playlists but received absolutely no sales or radio push so stayed in the chart for ages just from passive streams :') (and Joel Adams's two fans)
Great to see Paramore at #55 and Gaga #60! Will both make top 50 tomorrow I hope!

Lana up to #22 wow!!!!

Derulo #11
