I think the sentence will be reduced on appeal. It is a stupidly harsh punishment. He has said he has a problem, yes by all means ban him, but 18 months is way too long. It just reeks of the FA throwing the book at someone to make a point.

 

More to the point, he is awful at betting, 3 wins out of 30!

He's still a grade A f***ing idiot, Mr Barton. Has never learnt at all. The most controversial player in Premier League history.

Certainly controversial, I agree though. 18 months is over the top as a punishment.

Apparently it was the minimum ban for that according to the FA.
