BJSC 110: Daoko - Haikei-Goodbye-Sayonara

Feeling like I'll break,
But I never do
Feeling like I'll overflow,
But I never even get close
I'm such a fool
I'll never amount to much of anything

They're just magic words, nothing more
It'd be foolish to think you're gonna save me
They're just magic words, nothing more
But that's what I was relying on

Dear, Goodbye farewell
I killed who I was until yesterday
Dear, Goodbye farewell
A new morning will arrive for me

For the last contest of this year I've decided to enter the Japanese artist Daoko with the song "Haikei-Goodbye-Sayonara" ~
I don't really know what to expect, but hopefully some people find this enjoyable ^_^

I've been enjoying Daoko a lot recently. Especially that really high-viewed song for the Fireworks film. This is also really lovely, I'm really pleased to find something else great from her! Good stuff.

BJSC 111: Anna von Hausswolff - The Mysterious Vanishing of Electra

You search through the forest and the bottomless sea
And you cry
Push the trees, push the sky, push the air aside

You look at their faces and their meaningless loss
And you cry
Who is she, who is she, who is she to say goodbye

After sending a string of twelve songs in foreign languages - with a few English words here and there - we (finally?) send a song fully in English. "The Mysterious Vanishing of Electra" is sung by the Swedish artist Anna von Hausswolff who began her career in 2010 I think. The song itself is needless to say something of an experience and is nothing like something I have sent before to this contest ~

Im happy that you enjoyed the song Iz~ Thought you might know her from before, she is not exactly completely unknown in Japan if I have understood correctly.

BJSC 112: Pillar Point - Dove

All the songs that I could sing

To show you that I feel this

Would they change a thing?

No matter which way this wind blows

You know I'm coming home

It's no road that I'd run without a curve

So baby would you come in close at the turn

And let a different love song pass your lips

Or we might suffer shipwreck with the ship

Without love

You're just a stupefied dove

We are going american this time with the band Pillar Point and their song "Dove". The music video was filmed in in the capital of Colombia, Bogotá. The dancer in the video is named Kia LaBeija the current mother of the house of LaBeija which is based in New York.

This is what she had to say about her dancing in the music video:

BHV: In the video, did you have a routine, or were you freestylin’?

Kia: Everything in Dove was freestyle. There was no choreography, just improvised moves. If you can really vogue, you can vogue to anything – not thinking about choreography, just about interpreting the music, telling your story, and dancing with your heart. A lot of people can take voguing classes and get the moves down, but many of them can’t actually vogue. Class is meant to teach you the elements, the outline, but YOU have to write the essay, or else you are plagiarizing.

BJSC 113: Hawa Boussim - Koregore

A little song from Burkina Faso that I discovered while I was travelling in Kenya a few months ago. Took me a long time to find the song, but it was definitely worth it ^_^

So glad that you did manage to reconfirm on time because this is an absolute bop. (also almost certainly the first song I've ever heard by a Burkinabé artist, I stan)

^ Yay, glad you like the song Bré! In hindsight i'm kinda happy that i ended up getting vetoed :P it allowed this song to grow more on me, needless to say i'm going to be a tiny bit disappointed if I end up not qualifying

Veto: Sunmi - Noir

I feel so high
Everything goes blurry one two three
Now I’m blind
I don’t know why
I know what it is
even if I don’t see it
bad ending

We are in noir
There’s nothing more with you
We are in noir
Now let go of me

BJSC 114: Merk & Kremont - Sad Story (Out Of Luck)

And now he's locked away
21 years of age
How many lives will go to waste?
As far as graves
Until I see some f***ing change
Oh, and I don't even know how
We continue to
Fight one another now...

Now he don't talk too much, talk too much
He's probably given up, given up
I think he's had enough, had enough
Cause he ran out of luck, out of luck

… And we got vetoed for the second time in a row

Anyway our entry for this edition, replacing Sunmi, is the Italian DJ and producer duo Merk & Kremont and a vocalist named Ady Suleiman.

BJSC 115: Emma Blackery - Third Eye

Can't believe that I was so blind
I won't have you messing with my mind
'Cause I'm looking at you with my third eye, my third eye
And you think that you're invincible
But you're not the one who's in control
'Cause you don't know what the future holds
You'll be out in the cold

And so you twist, insist, and turn it around
And this is it, you're like a machine always on and on, repeating
So what do you want from me?
And tell me how can you break my trust if you never had it?
But you'll do what you must, becomin' a habit
And on and on repeating
So what do you want from me, what do you want from me?

I didn't get vetoed this time (yay)
This is a bop
From her album Villains
Couldn't chose between this and

So, random.org made that choice for me (yay)
I'm tired.

Your Best Of: Ágy - Arvedávgi

Her color is dark grey

"This is who I am", she says

"I've had it all,

Built up a wall - for protection.

Colors are hard to find

I've almost given up

This is my one last call to the sky"

Result: 15/39 (119 points)

Pride II: Aquilo - Calling Me

A sudden thought of disbelief

Clouds my every conscience

But how do we seek refuge here?

I panic a bit to find out that

This is all I've got

I panic a bit to find out that

This is all I need

Honestly, this is my favorite out of all the songs that I have sent this year. So emotional. I hope some of you enjoy this!

Thrilled to have archieved my first top 10 result this year, huge thanks to everyone that voted for "The Other Promise" in the final!

In other news, Lotunia has had their most successful year until now. We have somehow managed to qualify for every single final, some being more surprising then others - like Anna von Hausswolff, Hawa Boussim, Hishigdalai and Pillar Point. Of course, this can all change with one of the three songs I have lined up for the rest of the year ~

Your entry this time was beautiful  didn't quite realise that I was the only person to give it an 18 :o but yeah, I'm a sucker for a piano instrumental.

Congrats on the top 10 position <3

Worldvision IV: Reniss - La Sauce

Les hommes aiment les femmes à cause de la sauce
Je le mets dans la sauce, je tourne la sauce
O moussongo na weti, o moussongo na weti
O moussongo na weti, situation a changé
O moussongo na weti, o moussongo na weti
O moussongo na weti, situation a changé

Dans la sauce! Dans la sauce!
Le piment dans la sauce. Les condiments dans la sauce
Le plantain dans la sauce

Result: 13/34 (115 points)

Completely forgot about this when I wrote about BJSC 117  . So, for this edition of Worldvision I got Cameroon, which was very fun since I already had an artist that I wanted to send to the regular contest from that country. Reniss is one of the artists that I discovered when visited Kenya earlier this year, and she will most likely not be the last one that finds her way to BJSC ^_^ . The song "La Sauce" is sung in French and Pidgin, and was widely considered to be the unoffical anthem for the Cameroonian football team the 2017 AFCON.

BJSC 118: Charlotte Lawrence - Why Do You Love Me

We fight until someone's calling the cops
But you never blame it on me
You're so annoying
Four in the morning, you're changing the locks
How could you do this to me?

Apologize, never apologize
You hate the way I lie
So here you go, I'm being honest
Narcissist, come on, give us a kiss
Let's have some fun with it
It's kinda sweet

Sounds kinda like something Billie Eilish could have made tbh
I hope that is good thing on this forum ~

Special thanks goes to Holland-Oats, Ultraviolenceland, TARO Bellamia, Arcodesia and Fljótavik who gave her bronze or silver medals! And United States of Jack, Espen and Rep d’Áskorza who gave us gold, couldn’t have done this without you guys ^_^

Next month: It’s likely that I will not send what I originally intended for BJSC 119. Having an AQ changes everything.

BJSC 119: NCT U - Yestoday

Shoved and pushed around
Filled with all these empty moments
Not feeling anymore now
In the midst of an abyss
I’m sorry for yesterday

Broken heart, even if I try to let you go
The story was carved deep inside my heart
This short dream, past memories
The moments that won’t ever be forgotten
My precious yesterday
Tomorrow then yesterday
Sorry that I walked away
Tomorrow then yesterday
My precious yesterday

A song with lyrics penned by two of the members, Taeyong (the first rapper) and Mark (the second rapper).
Joined by Lucas (the last rapper) and Doyoung (the vocalist).
A reflection on their memories from before they joined the idol-industry, past regrets, youth, and moving foward.
Honestly, my favorite entry this year, only beaten by "The Other Promise".
