I am REALLY excited about seeing Gareth on our screens again, It has been such a long time since we last saw him. The documentary he is going to be doing sounds really interesting and it will be great to see what he has been upto since he's been away. :D

I hope this works out for Gareth. He is a very talented singer, but got caught the brunt of the whole Pop Idol backlash. A lot of blokes seemed to resent him for being too goodlooking, which was no more his fault than him having a disability that he couldn't hide.

There were some outstanding tracks on his second album. I read on DigitalSpy that what was supposed to be the next single from Go Your Own Way (All Cried Out) may now be released by someone else. Simon Cowell should be shot for the way he mis-managed him, but he's escaped now, so good on him.

....... sorry, in what way is this bloke 'talented'?...

Ok please tell me who is talented and why you think they are, and then I know how to answer you. :D

what i think is irrelevant, it doesnt alter any facts, i think too many 'fans' mistake of confusing their personal taste with what 'talent' really is.

this guy cant sing any better then half the population, his material consists mainly (or seemingly) of dire covers and his own compositions are feeble at best.. of course i realise that theres a generation here that have been brought up on second rate karaoke artists, which highlights all thats wrong with current 'pop'.

Tbh, I think Gareth is one of the best things to come out of reality TV - which I know isn't saying much, but I certainly wouldn't say he isn't talented  Sure he isn't as talented as other people out there, but he's good at what he does - POP.

i think the sticking point is the use of the word 'talented'... when someone is described as talented it usually means that they are exceptionally talented. gareth gates does NOT fit this definition.... however he can sing (to a degree) so he does posses some talent.

i still hate him :)

Well yes, that's fair enough

Yes he can sing, he also plays the piano brilliantly, he plays guitar and the drums and he writes his own songs. :D

And of course its OK you still hate him, dont mind that at all. :D

He got Grade 8 in singing (and piano and classical guitar) and a place at the Royal Northern College of Music. It's not just the deluded 'fans' that think he has 'talent'.

Only a tiny proportion of his music has been covers, and if you think that, your judgement on his own material is not to be trusted.

Yes, that is apparent, and also slightly obsessed by the look of things.

Until he shows some sort of abilty to produce some interesting music I shall also continue to hate him. Everything I have seen thus far has been entirely vile.

It will be interesting to see what direction the new album goes, anyone know what genre it is?

Anyone Of Us and What My Heart Wants To Say were both good I thought.

I hope he does well with his comeback. It has been a while so he could easily be forgotten. There have been many reality music shows since he first came on the scene and he has to an extent lost some popularity in that respect. It is a shame that he had such a long break, he needed to stay in the music business for a longer period of time in order to establish himself first.

ill continue to hate him until he produces something worthy of the praise he gets off his 'deluded fans' (your words not mine! :P )

if he hadnt been on tv but had tried to get a recording deal like every other artist does... he would never have been offered a recording contract.

when he starts getting critical acclaim for his writing skills, or nominations/recognition from the respected area of the music industry, then ill listen .

Fair enough, but maybe try to listen to his new music with an open mind? :D

Some people don't want to have an open mind hasso. People like Marshyman can only like something if someone he thinks is 'cool' tells him it's OK to like.

I hold you to that. :D

Erm somehow I doubt that

Oooooh I'm tettering closer and closer to having a new set of fans to dislike :D

Well put mate, he's just a bloody Karaoke singer when all's said and done. Frankly, I'd have the same low opinion of him even if he went out and did some 'experimental art-house' album, I would always question the motives of acts such as him....

I'm not impressed by these sorts of desperate fools who cant be arsed doing it the harder way, go on a Reality TV show and throw themselves at parastic b/astards like Cowell or Walsh. If he went out there gigging constantly, grafting, living out of transit van and believing in the music that HE actually did himself, then I'd have a bit more respect for him... The music of people like K T Tunstall or James Blunt is not exactly my cup of tea, but I can certainly respect them as artists who have achieved something off their own backs and actually believed in their own music as opposed to just taking the easy route and covering someone else's just to get themselves noticed....

I always thought it was weird how he could sing yet couldn't talk properly...

Why didn't he stutter when he sang?

Dunno really.. One would think a speech impediment would affect the singing voice to some degree as well...
