May 13, 20178 yr I find him as a normal guy with no deviances. He said what he said, it's his opinion. Here are your opinions. Some are well explained, some are too emotional. Your ones. And the absolute truth seems to lay just in the middle. p.s. Estonia's landslide in jury voting is really q.e.d.
May 13, 20178 yr Why do you not think it wasn't just used as a platform to send his message to the world outside of the contest and without specifically targeting it? You were the one posting his quote after all. Let's stick to the facts. Neither what you or I have said is fact, though? You don't know for a fact that he used his win to send a message to the world.. so yes, let's stick to the facts and your statement ain't one of them.
May 14, 20178 yr Looking at the lyrics, this could pass as an Ed Sheeran album track! He says his music is real music, but it's just as cliche and predictable as every other pop song out there, if not more cliche. In summary, he's chatting total contradictory bullshit. you have to add the emotions you can deliver, the way you sing that lyric, and many other feelings that Ed will never be able to give. What we portuguese means with making real music is when radios throws at us songs that plays more than 20 times a day, and next month we dont listen to them anymore because theres another fast "food" music, if you get offended well just take it as a offense, shit music is already a offense to people who enjoys real music art. May 14, 20178 yr Portugal is like the Chicago Cubs of Eurovision, you can't begrudge them winning. But f***ING CHRIST ALMIGHTY THAT HAS GOT TO BE THE WORST EUROVISION WINNER EVER. Officially gone to the dogs. RIP Eurovision 1956-2017.
May 14, 20178 yr That is what really grates with me. No music is disposable. Moldova eurovision song was disposable, per example. Edited May 14, 20178 yr by Odaisul
May 14, 20178 yr I agree with Phil I don't think "disposable" is the right word to use for music... Moldova and Norway for example were cheap and I feel like attempts at an easy hit but being a sort of generic chart song that would easily do well on Spotify, but I wouldn't say disposable. Now, WHERE THE FUCK IS MY SPREADSHEET WITH ALL THE VOTING DATA IN IT EBU, I'M NOT SLEEPING UNTIL I HAVE COMPLETED MY ANALYSIS! Omg legit, I am ready to drop but want to peek at that :drama: Ikr. That staging was PERFECTION, the dancers were FIERCE and most importantly the song was on the same level as Lovewave! Exactly :( I'd have got it a bit more if she did a Svala and just stood there and wasted staging but it really brought out the song and made it memorable.
May 14, 20178 yr Moldova eurovision song was disposable, per example. Says who, you? Who decides what's disposible or not? Who's to say someone hasn't connected to that song and wont be listening to it in 2020? Stop with the elitist bullshit. I still listen to cheesy pop music from the late 90s that a lot of people found disposible. Guess what, what's disposible to you may not be to everyone else.
May 14, 20178 yr It's 3am Ukraine time and I'm too tired to write too much for now, but Portugal was easily my favourite of the night and I'm overjoyed it won. Astonished by the hatred and fury some are giving it here, bloody well done to Salvadore I say. Looking forward to Lisbon 2018 if I'm actually able to get a ticket!
May 14, 20178 yr Portuguese media seem to be ignoring the win, nothing about it on TV yet. Probably too busy searching the back of the sofa to see if they've enough Euros to host it
May 14, 20178 yr Neither what you or I have said is fact, though? You don't know for a fact that he used his win to send a message to the world.. so yes, let's stick to the facts and your statement ain't one of them. By the let's stick to the facts remark I didnt mean my theory was one, it was just a suggestion to not jump the gun with definitive conclusions. Which, again, I did make none of.
May 14, 20178 yr Portuguese media seem to be ignoring the win, nothing about it on TV yet. are the 2am news a thing in portugal? x
May 14, 20178 yr Probably too busy searching the back of the sofa to see if they've enough Euros to host it Only RTP needs to care, the other channels dont give a f*** lol. Clearly the state will have to contribute for this special occasion, they dont want RTP to embarass themselves. And we all know they like to fvck it up.
May 14, 20178 yr are the 2am news a thing in portugal? x Yes there are some channels that focus on news 24h a day. They're more focused on discussing one of our football teams winning the championship. Football trumps everything here  Plus I truly dont think Eurovision has been part of our interest since probably the 90s, mostly due to RTP messing it up year after year and people started to tune out.
May 14, 20178 yr are the 2am news a thing in portugal? x Surely 24hr news is a global thing? Even Russia's chief propaganda machine Russia Today broadcasts it's English language channel 24/7 here!
May 14, 20178 yr Yeah but the majority of reports tend to come in the morning surely. RTP and all of its channels will surely report it. But I'm gonna see if the "competition" will say something.
May 14, 20178 yr The detailed voting stats appear to be out but, at least for some countries, the jury member names don't seem to have been updated from last year. Emmelie is currently shown as being part of the Danish jury and only ranking the song that she helped to write, in 10th place
