October 27, 20177 yr The xmas TV shows have always been talked in here as well, can't see any harm to be honest.
October 27, 20177 yr I thought the sketches/chatting was largely cringey and forced, so it's unfortunate that this took up the majority of the programme. The set looked good though and I liked the performances. I feel it could have done with one more guest performance, and one less sketch.
October 27, 20177 yr I echo the need for more performances and fewer sketches. The sketches might even have been okay but I found Greg and Dotty largely dreadful, completely lacking charisma. Jason Derulo completely outshone them and held the hosting side of the show together. I fear the BBC will make this their latest platform to parade their usual circus of favourite acts that PLAGUE the BBC Music Awards which just seemed to be a platform for the BBC to be arrogant and not actually choose relevant and popular acts due to their snobbery and reward those they and they alone like. They've got away with it with tonight's line-up this time (Jessie Ware would fit into the BBC favourite acts circus but I can forgive one per show), but I fear as we go further on that won't be the case. This is probably something that irritates me only, but I really do dislike BBC Radio/Music at times like these. All that said, it's better to have what we had tonight than not at all - massive room for improvement though.
October 27, 20177 yr Enjoyed tonight's show but as others have said I wish there were more performances and less sketches! I think Demi Lovato is the only act I'm hyped for who's on the next two weeks though :(
October 28, 20177 yr The viewing figures for the show as it was broadcast were 2.21m, which was 12.2% of the total TV viewing audience. The final viewing figures, which includes viewings on timeshift (Sky+ etc plus I believe also iPlayer) in the next 7 days, will be available in a fortnight's time. That's a decent figure given that it was up against Coronation Street which got 6.05m viewers and 33.4% of the audience. The real test will be how SLFN performs next week as many people will have been watching out of curiosity to see what the programme was like. Edited October 28, 20177 yr by Robbie
October 31, 20177 yr Catching up now. I’m sure Greg James just introduced Jason Derulo as having had 4 number 1 albums as opposed to singles...
November 3, 20177 yr didn't expect to, but I'm actually quite gutted I'm missing this tonight. lineup looks GREAT this week, especially Mabel and Liam Gallagher.
November 3, 20177 yr didn't expect to, but I'm actually quite gutted I'm missing this tonight. lineup looks GREAT this week, especially Mabel and Liam Gallagher.Liam Gallager won't now be appearing and has been replaced by Dizzee Rascal http://www.musicweek.com/talent/read/liam-...ay-night/070370
November 3, 20177 yr Already preferring this weeks episode more than the last night. 4 performers is definitely the right way
November 3, 20177 yr Good to see new artists getting a spot - Mabel was great even tho I'm not a fan of the song! Pity Liam is doing a cover of What About Us!
November 4, 20177 yr Author Yes it was definitely a better show - at least the first half was, until they went back to the sketches. At least it's one more song but it needs another one or two. And a chart rundown. Oh just bring back TOTP. 1.61m this week - it's not going to get recommissioned at this rate.
November 4, 20177 yr 1.61m this week - it's not going to get recommissioned at this rate. That doesn't include catch up though does it. I've quite enjoyed both episodes so far, shame Liam G had to pull out though.
November 4, 20177 yr You'd think they'd get more ratings if they just gave it the name Top of the Pops, not sure why they didn't do that.
November 4, 20177 yr That doesn't include catch up though does it. I've quite enjoyed both episodes so far, shame Liam G had to pull out though.1.61m is the "overnights" figure which is the amount of viewers who watched the programme by midnight last night. BARB, the organisation that calculates viewing figures describes the overnights figure as These figures not only include those who watched the programme at the time it was broadcast but also those who recorded it and watched it back the same day. This is referred to as ‘viewing on the same day as live’ or VOSDAL.The consolidated figures that are released 14 or so days later are the figures that the broadcasting industry and advertising agencies take note of. The overnights are simply a guide and in many cases (like Doctor Who) they are less and less reliable as an indication of final figures due to large numbers watching on catchup / timeshift during the following week. Overnights however are not the viewing figures that appear on our website. These are consolidated ratings and include catch-up, or time-shifted, viewing that happened up to seven days after the original broadcast. The consolidated ratings are the BARB gold standard on which the UK broadcasting and advertising industries rely for all reporting and trading. These final figures include all time shifting, such as Sky+ boxes and iPlayer viewings http://www.barb.co.uk/about-us/how-we-do-what-we-do/
