His Oscar nominations have been for:

Best Supporting Actor (2011) - The Kids Are All Right (as Paul)

Best Supporting Actor (2015) - Foxcatcher (as David Schultz)

Best Supporting Actor (2016) - Spotlight (as Mike Rezendes)

How would you rank these performances? Do you think he deserved to win in any of these years? Do you think he deserved nominations for any other performances?

Here are some other awards nominations/wins he has received:

I've always really liked him as an actor and found him pretty underrated. I hope he continues to star in more awards friendly pictures as well as blockbusters so he can eventually win one day..

1 Spotlight

2 The Kids Are All Right

3 Foxcatcher

I think he's really good in all of these but this is how I would rank them. He nailed the characteristics of the real reporter in Spotlight though and his 'it could of been you' speech really resonated with me. I think he actually would have been choice for the win that year - way better than Mark Rylance anyway :drama:
