11th FETISH 7.23

UK peak: #33 (so far)

US peak: #27 (so far)

Highest score: 10 (John James, Cremey, Davidson, Joseph, burbe, Josh, darkstar79, Luke)

Lowest score: -1 (Dexton)

Just missing out on the top 10 by a whisker (a 0.01 less average than the song immediately above it) is Selena's current single! This is another slow jam like Good For You which I feel is her lane for a lot of people and she certainly owns it. Compared to Good For You however, this is more trap with a bit of a heavier beat without losing any of the subtle sexiness that drips from Selena's voice on a song like this. It's gone top 40 in the UK and US which is solid but I can't see it peaking any higher, as much as songs take time to build it's out of the top 100 on UK iTunes and #60 on US itunes, but who knows in the current chart climate?

Fetish is growing on me slowly but it's still not in the same league with my faves imo
DEXTON YOU LI'L SHIT

I really don't like it  She's just trying too hard to replicate Good For You

Fetish is amazing and I'm surprised people aren't into it more! I could see it blossoming into a bigger hit actually, airplay hasn't kicked in yet as Bad Liar's finishing its impact.

10th I WANT YOU TO KNOW 7.24

UK peak: #14

US peak: #17 (Platinum)

Highest score: 10 (Joe, cqmerqn, billy, UltraRedLight, Dexton)

Lowest score: 1 (Davidson)

Kicking off the top 10 is an absolute banger and the 2nd highest of Selena's collabs, this time with dance DJ Zedd.. This suited her so well, she had dance-pop before but this ramped it up and threw her into a full dance diva lane with a huge drop and banging production. It's nothing revolutionary or life changing but it's a damn good floorfiller and was a top 20 hit both sides of the Atlantic.

9th SLOW DOWN 7.55

UK peak: #106

US peak: #27 (Platinum)

Highest score: 11 (Spadam)

Lowest score: 2 (blacksquare)

Next to bow out is the 2nd single from Stars Dance and Selena's first more mature, sexy and grown up dance-pop banger! She'd had songs like Round & Round and Hit The Lights with The Scene but this came with a proper big drop in the chorus to make it an unequivocal pop stomper. It's nothing revolutionary but I can't help but want to dance when I hear this, the production is just brilliant for a song like this. It's a shame it wasn't a hit in the UK following Come & Get It doing so well but I feel it was maybe a few years too late, it'd have SMASHED in 2010 when that song was really in vogue I feel.

8th IT AIN'T ME 7.65

UK peak: #7 (Platinum)

US peak: #10 (Platinum)

Highest score: 11 (cqmerqn, SamJudd)

Lowest score: -1 (Davidson)

The highest collab here, and no surprise really, is It Ain't Me <3 This folky tune was a more mature sound for both Selena and Kygo, continuin Selena's maturation. She was a pop princess, she got a bit sexy and playful and this detailed a broken relationship marred by alcohol. The lyrics are pretty sombre but musically the song feels defiant and almost empowering through its instrumentation. It ended up being a massive hit on both sides of the Atlantic and its easy to see why. It's on trend, not totally out of either artists' comfort zone but does it in a perfect way.

'I Want You To Know' and 'It Ain't Me' are both awful stains on her discography for me! 'Slow Down' is decent however, I agree that it probably would have smashed if it had been around a few years earlier.

THESE RESULTS ARE f***ING TRAGIC.

It Ain't Me, Slow Down and I Want You To Know are top 5. omg.

7th BAD LIAR 7.70

UK peak: #21

US peak: #20

Highest score: 10 (Liam, cqmerqn, billy., Tim, Lotti, Riser, Tombo, UltraRedLight)

Lowest score: 2 (all is vanity)

The highest song not to get a single 11, but it did get an abundance of 10s! The first single from her upcoming album, preceding Fetish. This was unlike anything Selenahas done and unlike anything in the charts really with its bassline lifted from Talking Heads' Psycho Killer and restrained almost spoken verses. It struck me first listen, I wasn't sure it would be a hit but it just grew and grew, and actually it did quite well for such a non-commercial song. It's so unique it feels like nobody but Selena could pull it off and I hope we hear more songs like this on the album!
