Posted August 10, 20177 yr I KNOW there's a thread for this but I cannot for the life of me find it!! Anyway, we finally have an air date for the TV adaptation of JK Rowling's most famous book series written under a pseudonym: the Cormoran Strike series. It follows a private detective and his assistant in their investigations. The first book 'The Cuckoo's Calling' will be the first to air (:o) on Sunday August 27th at 9pm on BBC One! JK Rowling has said she is "thrilled" that War & Peace actor Tom Burke will star in a TV series based on the crime novels she wrote as Robert Galbraith. Burke, who also appeared in The Musketeers, will play private detective Cormoran Strike in the BBC One adaptation. He described the character as "complex" and "larger than life". Shooting on the seven hour-long dramas will begin in London in the autumn. Rowling has written three novels about the war veteran-turned-detective. The Cuckoo's Calling, The Silkworm and Career of Evil will all be adapted and will be screened as separate dramas. Burke, who appeared as Fedor Dolokhov in the recent BBC adaptation of War & Peace, said: "I'm overjoyed to be immersing myself in the role of Cormoran Strike, who is as complex as he is larger than life. "I know I'm joining an extraordinary team of people on a series that for me is peppered with moments of real emotional depth and meticulously grounded in the page-turning momentum of these novels." Rowling, best known for the Harry Potter series, said: "I'm thrilled about the casting of Tom Burke, a massively talented actor who'll bring the character to perfect life. Cormoran Strike is pure joy to write and I can't wait to see Tom play him." SO SO excited for this as I love the books and the BBC is always so trustworthy with major dramas.
August 31, 20177 yr Author Still need to wath this (and VERY much looking forward to it!) but good news is that The Silkworm will be airing the following week after Sunday's conclusion!!
September 17, 20177 yr I'm really enjoying this, the current story is more intriguing than the first one was - I have a gut feeling as to who it will be this time though I hope I'm wrong.
September 17, 20177 yr Yeah this second story's better than the first one. Just watched on I-Player so can watch Pt2 tonight.
September 17, 20177 yr Shame we have to wait until next year for the third book </3 Fab adaptation, loved both stories!
September 17, 20177 yr Definitely the better adaptation of the two books, mind you I've read all of the books, but the ending was no surprise for me, but the books have been adapted quite well and enjoyable to watch, the third book will be transmitted on New Year's Day apparently filling the Sherlock slot.
September 17, 20177 yr Hmmmmm. I'm looking at the sentence structure there and especially the use of so many commas; am wondering if you really typed that as it isn't your usual posting style Mart!n.
September 17, 20177 yr Author Well he's read all the books but, shockingly considering that, the ending didn't surprise him! :o

September 18, 20177 yr Eh I did not get the second story at all. Artistically, it was completely different to the first - it almost felt like a different programme. Also were there only two episodes because it was so bloody slow and then Strike just told us in the last five minutes who wrote the texts = the murderer? Is there a third part?
September 21, 20177 yr I noticed you used the semi colon in the sentence above :o There's nothing like a good semi-colon
September 24, 20177 yr Author just finished The Cuckoo's Calling, a really great translation of the book to TV as burbe said! All the essential aspects were there and it was easy to follow without having read the book too! Robin is perfect and Strike is great also, still thinks he looks too young though :kink:
September 30, 20177 yr Completed The Cuckoo's Calling. Excellent! Going to start The Silkworm soon. :)
February 25, 20187 yr Career of Evil currently being shown which was shown tonight wish this was more than a two-parter. I'm hooked enough to be impatient for the next episode.
August 29, 20204 yr Author I didn’t even realise but Lethal White airs tomorrow and Monday! Can’t even remember the main plot of the book, all I can remember is how Robin’s storyline develops oops so at least they’ll be surprises for me again.
June 5, 20214 yr Been watching this all week and it’s really excellent, didn’t read or heard of any of the books so was a nice surprise with what happened!
